Thanks for sharing. I’m glad your hooktier looks like mine (a bit rusty) but still works fine! 😊

I tried fluorocarbon one time, I heard the knot strength could be suspect so i tied up a 5 hook lengths and tested them. Three of them broke at the loop, i decided it was a waste of twenty bucks and put the other 2 aside and tied up more hook lengths using mono. Somehow I mixed up the two remaining fluorocarbon hook lengths with the mono ones and put 'em in the hook box. After fishing all day at my local pond and catching some big hard fighting wild carp I realized that I had used both of the fluorocarbon hook lengths and not got broken once, weird. The soap is a great idea, works good with mono using a hook tier, no kinks. Learn something new everyday. Thanks mate.

Great tips. Nice to see a top angler using a matchman hook tyer. I note that when you trim the line off the hook and loop you appear to let the tag end drop to the floor - I suppose that a short length of tag end won't necessarily harm wildlife - but personally I always try to recover any line that needs discarding.
