The thing is, my province covers IUI (except for prescriptions and donor material, which we'd need for IVF, anyways), but only covers one round of IVF, so it's definitely a tricky equation to find a balance to! my goodness i wish i watched this before my first round of failed IVF, my doctor saw us for 5 min each sesh and prescribed gonal and rushed us into egg retrieval, my husband has low sperm count and doc basically told him it´s fine to have up to 5 cigs a day, and never asked him to quit drinking his sugar beverages and eating processed meat prior to the process. we ended up having 5 blastocysts that stopped developing at day 4 + 5. i am going to clinic shop for a bit, taking my time, interviewing different doctors and prepare myself for the next round. thanks natalie this is so helpful!
did you go for the second cycle yet? If still prepping, I recommend looking up Andrew Hubermann's episode on fertility and all supplements. Lots interestingly enough were covered by our fertility doc, and to the huge dislike of my partner the doc told him to quit smoking (not going to happen sadly as his first daughter with ex-partner through IVF was conceived with 5 cigs a day, but probably explained almost point of miscarriage at 4.5m!)
yah i did - with another clinic that better understood our needs, umm this time my husband quit smoking 3 months before egg retrieval and started taking supplements, we ended up having 2 blasts, transferred 1, did not stick, i underwent a hysteroscopy and found that i had a Y shaped uterus on top of a very endometriosis covered linings.. corrected those, and going into my second FET next month. @@deepamanakkadavath8498 I don't know what you're asking so I answer it the best I can. The appointments are easy. every time I had a vaginal ultrasound which is painless. The shots suck. I was on several different injectable medications for 2 weeks. each med is used for a different reason and have their own side effects. mainly injection site irritation, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. The actual egg retrieval was much more painful than I expected. I thought I would be good to go the next day but I got a very common syndrome called ovarian hyperstimulation which caused an ovarian cyst and that cyst ruptured. after the egg retrieval it took me about 7-10 days to feel good again. Unfortunately we got 15 eggs but only 2 successfully grew after IVF so we are doing another round in november. I am not looking forward to it at all but I will do whatever I need to to become a mother. 3 weeks of uncomfortableness will be worth it in the end. If you are planning on doing IVF, talk to your work ahead of time. plan on feeling ill for about 2 weeks and then recover from surgery the next week. Maybe it wont be as bad for you as it was for me but I'd plan for the worse and hope for the best. hope that answered your question.

Dr. Crawford, you mentioned different protocols being used in IVF. I'm curious, how can patients tell if a clinic uses a one-size-fits-all approach or tailors the protocol to each patient's needs?
I love that you put a lot of information into the video (you speak fast to keep it short, but if listeners already know about the terms and concepts used, they would be able to follow). The information is well structured and you include a comprehensive set of steps. You are not trying to sell something but tell viewers that it is their choice - but here are some options and information. Great video - thanks!
I just had hysteroscopic polyectomy and bilateral recanalization. The recanalization was a fail. My tubes are blocked. 😢 My doctor (Dr. Parry in Mississippi) said IVF is my option. My body responded well to the Femara they gave me. I'm older, but I ovulated above average. Praying the IVF works. ❤

Dr. Crawford, first, I’d like to thank you so much for posting these videos. I follow all your social media platforms. I wanted to ask, following Dr. Brauer's podcast, could you possibly do an episode that focuses on foods to eat to increase fertility or to maintain a healthy pregnancy. The web is full of misconceptions, and I think it’s so important to be upfront about the carcinogens in today’s meats. Thank you for reading and consideration.
We are preparing to doing our second round of IVF and I feel like I’m good on tips 1-4 but #5: lifestyle, yikes! I really just need to calm down and take better care of myself before we begin. Thank you for sharing! ♥️
Thank you , thank you , thank you! My doctor gave my recommendation based on my race. 🙄I was devastated. It was an absolute recipe for disaster. She went on about diabetes in the culture. Omg. Let me reel it back lol. I’m great shape & health so I’m on my way!
I wish I had a doctor like this. I've been to 4 different fertility doctors and been disappointed every time. Each one gave me the same protocol, didn't want to test anything extra. My last one prescribed meds she knew I was allergic to, now I have to wait another month to start stims. I live in Germany and they are terrible here! I can handle going through more ivf cycles if I have to but the doctors are just so disappointing it makes me want to give up.
Is it normal to only ever see nurses at fertility clinics? I’ve only seen my doctor once. We’ve done 2 IUIs both performed by nurses and I go frequently for blood work and ultrasounds but never see the doc
I really wish I had this before I did IVF and failed. Because I felt I was told we will have a baby with an AMH of 0. 26 and I was 33 at the time and felt like I was under one protocol. 😪 thank you for the information.
@@jaysonwells1079 we tried to conceive on our own then when that did not happen went to fertility specialist and they told us only way to have a baby is with IVF so we did it and were not successful but were given so much false hope and they came back and said well you should do donor eggs now. But they knew all my numbers my amh was really low for my age and we spent $16000 on nothing which is ridiculous to me. I just felt I was under one protocol and that's it. We still have not conceived on our own yet and trying to pay that money off before we decide out next steps.
@@vcamp1015 hi… just watching the video and seen your comment. I also have low amh (0.4) and i was 33 …close to 34 when i found out. Did your clinic suggest any vitamin supplements? Exercise? amh changes month to month and you can still fall pregnant 🙏🏽 praying for u! if your unhappy with the protocol you were given make sure you do research and advocate for your self, looking into estrogen priming, for low amh it has good outcomes. Sending you encouragement i know how heart breaking it is💕

If the woman has never ever conceived before and is under 35 then it is more likely for her that she would conceive in 32% of cases. If women have had a child before then there are 37 percent of chances for IVF cycle to work and result in a successful pregnancy under the age of 35.
Do you have endometriosis? I do and tried twice both failed. Endometriosis makes it more likely not to work. Try to get a laparoscopy to find out if you have endo and try to have them remove it. Or try lupron for 3 months before a transfer.
I am 37 and we have 5 genetically normal high grade blastocysts - 2 females and 3 males. I REALLY want a little girl. And perhaps next would be one of the boys. I hope we have enough! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I’m 42 and I am doing a FET from my 37 YO eggs ( froze my eggs) . My transfer is in 2 days and now I’m altering my diet with fruits and veggies. Thank you for the tip! I may have some inflammation Too since I do drink and eat. I hope my transfer will be successful as I didn’t know it plays a major role. 😮
I get leg cramps when on estrogen pills for FET (this is my 3rd FET, last 2 miscarried) told this to my doctor multiple times. He keeps saying it would be because of dehydration. Also I have a history of PCOS and endometriosis, it would have been beneficial if I was prescribed COQ10 and other supplements before the retrieval rather than telling "it must have been a poor quality embryo" every time I miscarry. Its frustrating how most of the doctors do trial and error, and give the same protocol to all the patients.
We certainly learn more about you each cycle - but I agree, shouldn't just do the same thing without evaluating all options. I'm sorry for your experience, consider getting a second opinion - hugs!
Hello Mariam, I have PCOS . I had went through IVF cycle twice. First cycle I had 11 eggs retrieved, and three embryos made it to the five day blastocyst. All three embryos were tested and were abnormal. I decided to do a second round of IVF. Before my second cycle, I had fibroid surgery. While I was recovering from my surgery, I changed my diet. Incorporating fruits, vegetables and reducing my sugar intake. Eggs, smoothies and avocados were my best friend. I was prescribed metformin to help with the insulin resistance (PCOS). Also, I started taking Ovasitol and CoQ10. One month post surgery, I had my second retrieval. The doctor retrieved 30 eggs, and 11 embryos made it to day 5 blastocyst. Due to my age, I had all 11 embryos genetically tested. Six embryos came back normal. Because you have been diagnosed with PCOS, I highly recommend going on a strict diet. Also, as Dr Crawford mentioned, be careful what you put on and your body. I switched to skin care products that didn’t contain harmful chemicals. Wishing you success with your next cycle.

Hi, my frozen transfer night I am getting frequent urination.. but not painful.. it's normal or infection? But one thing before transfer iam not getting frequent urination..so please does anyone know about this?
Generally speaking, women over the age of 43 are not advised to undergo IVF with their own eggs due to the increased risk of chromosomal abnormalities in older eggs. These abnormalities can lead to miscarriage, birth defects, or developmental problems. However, this doesn't mean that IVF is off the table for older women or those facing other challenges. For women who still wish to use their own eggs, there are specialized clinics that offer IVF with donor eggs. Donor eggs come from younger women who have undergone a rigorous screening process to ensure the quality and health of their eggs. Using donor eggs can significantly improve the chances of a successful pregnancy for older women. Another option for women who are unable to carry a pregnancy themselves is surrogacy. Surrogacy involves a woman (the surrogate) carrying and giving birth to a baby for another couple (the intended parents). The intended parents can provide their own eggs and sperm to be fertilized and implanted in the surrogate's uterus, or they can use donor eggs, sperm, or embryos. IVF and surrogacy can offer hope for families who face challenges in their journey to parenthood. If you're considering these options, it's important to consult with experienced reproductive specialists to discuss your individual circumstances and explore the best path for you.
If a woman is stimulated during IVF and then eggs are being removed from the follicles and then frozen for some time maybe 6 months, and then this woman wants to have an embryo transfer is a woman going through stimulation again, or is it's less invasive procedure?

I’m 31 years old. I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years. We were diagnosed with male factor infertility. We completed our first IVF cycle last month where 11 eggs were retrieved and fertilized via ICSI. We have great quality embryos (all were graded high). One fresh embryo transfer was completed at the end of that cycle. It was unsuccessful. We will be doing FET next month. My question is...since we had a failed fresh transfer with one embryo, should we try to transfer more than one embryo next time? Getting a lot of different opinions.

if u have MTHFR mutations you should not take folic acid and good grass fed organic meat is great for you, to much plant based soy products can be bad for you also. And where was the talk about the male factors, all this info is great but not everyone knows they have other issues, what about sperm dna fragmentation, high histamine levels, silent endo, auto immune issues, blood clotting factors on the Fathers side. Latent infections, alpha dq matches, sometimes you just need to be in it to find out these issues, and Karyo type what if one of you carries a balanced translocation. I love this video, but there are 2 sides to IVF, male factor is a big part of fertility issues as well.
I have done IUI 3 times. First 2 times- pregnant but miscarried in 1st trimester. 3rs time- 5 weeks had emergency surgery to remove ectopic pregnancy.

You are a great doctor, and you read women's minds and how they are thinking during ivf. I like your video because it is useful.
I love how you set things out simply so the average person can actually understand the medical information . So often doctors use their “doctor talk” and it’s just so confusing and overwhelming. Great job!

@@NatalieCrawfordMD My question is, can interracial couples conceive via IVF? and would the baby be mixed or based on one parent's race?
Thank you. My Wife and I going through IVF. Your information was helpful. Much appreciated.
Dr. Crawford, you mentioned different protocols being used in IVF. I'm curious, how can patients tell if a clinic uses a one-size-fits-all approach or tailors the protocol to each patient's needs?
This is excellent. It's like every fertility book summed up in 11 minutes. Thank you!

So perfectly said!!! I couldn’t agree more!

I had two transfers and both failed. No more embryos.
Does drinking alcohol moderately while TTC decrease your chances of conception?
Day 2 embryo divided into 4 straw. Is that good for transfer into our uterus. Chance of get pregnant? Doctor.
Pls what's the success rate for a 26 years old going for ivf.
If the woman has never ever conceived before and is under 35 then it is more likely for her that she would conceive in 32% of cases. If women have had a child before then there are 37 percent of chances for IVF cycle to work and result in a successful pregnancy under the age of 35.
I did 4 times. Unfortunately they didn’t work.😢😢😢😢 What should I do?
Try again and pray more
Do you have endometriosis?

How old can a women do ivf
If a woman is stimulated during IVF and then eggs are being removed from the follicles and then frozen for some time maybe 6 months, and then this woman wants to have an embryo transfer is a woman going through stimulation again, or is it's less invasive procedure?
no once the eggs are out of the body the transfer is very simple (like a Pap smear almost)

3.3 is pretty good for a 45 year old! People have gotten pregnant with way lower levels.
if u have MTHFR mutations you should not take folic acid and good grass fed organic meat is great for you, to much plant based soy products can be bad for you also.
