It was a reasonable design choice. In the sense that they secured the OS’s identity recognition/awareness that way. It’s not the first time the user is falling victim of a marketing decision that secures the brand awareness of a product. That’s my speculation. At last they let us to customize it after 17 years.

My old lady jokingly said today that she wants Apple to steal even more features from Samsung/Android and it's crazy to think how there might be more similarities than differences in the operating systems. I guess that gives more curious Apple folk less incentive to switch and maybe more incentive to switch from those looking to defect from Android.

Appreciate the breakdown, but the way I see it, an Apple user that’s only ever used Apple products might say “I understand that Android’s had this feature for years, but I don’t care, I have an iPhone, and I will have an iPhone until society collapses, so any new features, borrowed or not, are going to seem exciting because my iPhone is the only place I’ll get to see them,” and many others will see the features as nuisances corrupting their precious iOS experience that they want to preserve as if it was 2012.

Tinkering with launchers and stuff gets old, And using an iPhone got me in touch with my inner caveman. I definitely like the points you bring up in this video. Although it is great that Apple is bringing these features you can’t deny how blatantly obvious it is. They are all copies from other people and from many years ago even. It’s kind of strange they’re doing all these things to the operating system, and there are still so many books and I’m sure there’s going to be more now. I just wish they would fix the alarm clock that randomly for me doesn’t go off once a week.

"No Apple hate here! It's just always interesting how they say 'Here's this thing...', and they give it a new name, and...they act like it's theirs, don't they?" No, they absolutely don't. Apple never claims they invented a new feature. They just introduce it as a new iOS feature, which it is. It's the same thing that every other company does. Every. One.
I challenge you to find a single Android announcement or press release where they mention a new feature and then say "Yeah we got this from Apple." No company does that, ever. Your criticism seems misguided and kind of childish.

Everyone cross-pollenates nowadays, and no one gives the originator credit - so Apple's doing so is just par for the course.
I'm sure that no one gave the originator of the steering wheel on the left or right to change the car's direction credit when cars were first being designed - it was simply a functional system that was universally adopted.
You're treating this a scandalous behavior, but it's just business as usual practiced by the entire industry.

And when the windows snapping feature does not work on Mac OS, they give the opportunity for 3rd party talents to program a “plug-in” application that solves this problem. A lack of a feature is an opportunity for YOU to code an app and to meet this need, until Apple decides that it is the time to monopolize it and put the resources on that one thing that they didn’t include so far. And not to mention that your deprivation of the “windows snapping”, brought you the most sophisticated and innovative trackpad with its exclusive gestures like Mission Control. Apple means Product Innovation and solving a problem by reinventing the wheel. Also, Mac OS is not a multitasking software because it wants you to focus and devote all your attention on the work that must be done.

Honestly, I mean no disrespect to your work, but I did find the content of this particular video rather childish and pointless. Why not talk about the on-device system-wide implementation of Apple intelligence, instead? No other platform can currently offer anything even remotely close to that. Android can only provide some AI features across a limited number of apps. Apple intelligence, with the revolutionary way it’s going to work, will offer a much deeper, more personal and useful interaction with your device. Why over-analyse minor changes to the OS rather than discuss far more important aspects of the presentation, I wonder? It feels like a missed opportunity to me. Looking forward to much more interesting content on the channel. Until then, peace out.

As an android/Pixel user that's never owned an Iphone I loved everything they unveiled. I always had little reasons not to switch, but now everything is on such equal footing I can now use widgets and do easy custom icons, even easier than on my Pixel software. Let's also be honest Apple does widgets better. IMessage is going to play well with android massaging. The siri redesign and integrations of AI looks better than Gemini, I uninstalled Gemini after 3 days, it was awful. I'm 100% sold and will soon for the first time be trading in My Pixel 7 for an Iphone 15.
