Have you upgradedd your iPhone in the past couple years Will you any time soon?
Went from an iPhone 8 to an iPhone 15 Pro Max. My work phone is still an iPhone 8. Switching from 15 PM to the 8 to use it briefly is like going back to the dark ages and makes my fingertips feel like they are a different size! I do tend to keep devices a long time. My iPhone before the 8 was a 4S. 4S was actually my first iPhone, as I was really big into music I just bought an 64GB iPod touch and used that in parallel with a simple feature phone. Lovely to see you back doing longer videos like this. Keep it up!
I upgraded from the iPhone 12 to 15 Pro Max a couple of months ago. Really impressive change! I want to ask you something about the always on display. Do you know something about burn in? I like that feature and I don’t mind the minor battery drain, but I really care about screen’s health because I am planning to keep it for 3-4 years.
I updated from a 13 Pro Max. The only reason I did was USB-C. I am a truck driver, and having only one cable that charges my phone, iPad, and my headset is convenient. Otherwise, I would have kept my 13 Pro Max. Frankly, at this point with devices and financial factors, I don’t see the need to update every year, or two years, or longer. I could see me still using this device in 28 or 29.

I made the sane upgrade you did. I had the 12 Pro Max and upgraded for two reasons: 1. USBC, and 2. my battery was degraded below 80% and it just made more sense for me to replace than deal with a battery replacement. I will admit this phone feels snappier next to my old 12, but I doubt I would have noticed unless I was looking at them side by side.

You are absolutely right about if your phone still gets updates and works, you should should just keep your iPhone. Camera quality doesn't really matter these days if you're just posting online or sending a pic to a friend. Especially since flagship phones run over a thousand.

Agreed , and when it’s all said and done they all have some strong points and weaker points , but it kinda balances out in the end.
Pixel 8 pro has a reputation for a very good camera , and sometimes it does just take better pics than my other phone cameras , the other day I had to take a few photos of the underside of my bike while I was working on it in poor light , the pixel was crap in that situation, my 14 pro did surprisingly fantastic, again they all have weak and strong points , in the end day to day , even my old 12 pro max all the basics still work very well …. And I still prefer the notch to the island 😊, if any of my phones ring or I need to look something up I’m happy to pick up and use either the old model or the newer one , very little difference in day to day use in modern phones .
Upgraded from 12 Pro Max to the 15 PM. Honestly, the upgrade for the battery life would’ve been enough for me initially. But there are so many more upgrades from then to now that have made my decision even more concrete. I will tell anyone (especially Verizon customers) to wait until you are offered a trade in value of at least $1000 for you old phone, because they pop up every once in awhile. I have the 256GB which retails for $1199, and getting $1000 for my old phone to get an extra $5 added to my bill is a no brainer. I will rinse and repeat every 3 years so long as I get a worthy trade in deal.
Still using a 12 mini and a 10-year old nexus 5 as a backup. Both are still up to date with security updates.
12 mini and 13 mini are actually the most valuable iPhones out there.
I upgraded from the 13 and it feel is very similar. A little smoother
Live Photo’s , I actually use Live Photo’s , my old mum was sick and I took quiet a few photos of her before she passed just after Xmas , I’m glad I had Live Photo even though I must confess a lot of them where not usable , but some were good.
Another way of getting into the camera quickly is , if you have lift to wake enabled , as soon as the screen wakes swipe the screen from right to left which is so easy and fast .
But nothing beats Samsungs double click the power power button at any time from any app and it will take you straight to the camera.
“Feels, iPhone-like” yes, I agree, even if you spend the premium for the upgraded “Pro” models, they’ll all basically have the same “feel” as the “ old” iPhones that are still getting the OS updates from Apple (even the ones just getting the security updates). I have an iPhone XR and, out of curiosity, tried my mom’s iPhone 14 Pro…. the “feel” was basically the same, minus, of course, all the new features put into the Pro which the average user probably won’t use (I’m the one who ends up showing the new select features that made it to the XR for people who have a Pro).
If one wants a different “feel” one can pick up an old Pixel 6a from eBay (I found one in perfect condition on eBay for $189). Was able to try features like “Screen My Call”, “Hold For Me” and “Direct My Call”.
the biggest problem with iPhones in the last few years has been connectivity. From cellular to WiFi has been very poor and has me trying android which on the same cell network and home Wi-Fi the speeds have been so much better? This needs to change soon because for a phone this price this needs to be the same or better than the competition
I still have my 12 and 14 pro max’s , you should be able to get a weather widget on your phone mate , even on The standby screen there’s a very basic weather thing showing the low and high temps and description, either cloudy, sunny, rainy .
Standby mode can show the weather. You just need to add the weather widget.
I just got the iPhone 15 pro max and I love it
20:40 One thing that I do to feel I'm moving to a new phone is to configure it from scratch and not from a backup, feel nice if you don't have lots of things to configure
Upgrading from a iPhone 11 actually previously upgraded from 11 to an s22 but the Samsung had so many bugs and charging issues I sold it and went back to 11. Hopefully upgrading to the 15 pro max will not be undesirable.
I got the 13 pro atm and really debating going over to s24U
I’m waiting for and expecting to get the iPhone 16 Pro Max at the end of this year. Because my current phone will be 4 years old by the end of this year and so it’s a reasonable time to upgrade (for me). I’m also interested in the possibility that it will have an ever so slightly larger screen (6.9”).
That said, my current phone is still in excellent condition and could go longer (with only a new battery at some point).
If the rumored new AI features are significant enough and interesting enough AND if they aren’t supported in iOS on my current phone then I might also want to upgrade for that reason too. Perhaps.
We shall see!
Not in a big hurry to upgrade right now but definitely some anticipation or excitement for my next iPhone!
Especially since I use it way more than any other device or traditional computer. In fact, it’s really the only “personal” device I use anymore along with my Apple Watch and AirPods.
I only have a Windows laptop for work. It’s a company laptop. Otherwise, I only have my iPhone for my personal computing needs.
I’m also somewhat interested in the gaming potential of newer iPhones like the 15 Pro models that are starting to support AAA gaming titles.
I like the look in dark mode. In my opinion the dynamic island is too large so with dark mode it's less distracting.

Hey Jason, 100% agree about the Journal App.... Used once when it came out but found the whole experience of typing in this terrible iphone keyboard a chore I want to avoid. Never used the App again - however I think young generations may feel ok with that?
I've journaled a lot over the years and I just can't thumb type that fast. I need to be able to keep up with my brain.
My 14 is fine for a few years. Who knows when I’ll get the urge to upgrade.
I love mine, no issues at all with mine at all.
Still on my two year old 13 pro. Battery was 100% until a few weeks back when I updated to 17.4. Otherwise it is like new, but I’m getting bored of it and seriously thinking about going back to Android 👀
That’s what there updates are intended to do, slow down older phones.

No way dude. Not saying that tou are lying but I had a 13 pro max and when I upgraded to 15 pro max (2 weeks ago) it had 90% battery. Provided i did all the updates always.
@@Andrew1990R I have always updated it and had optimized charging from day one. Don´t play games on it, turned off background refresh, never leave it on charging over night etc. Seems to have worked.
never had an apple product...way out my price range...id love an iphone just for the camera and the spatial video...maybe if i win the lottery

Imagine this: you've got a phone from Brand A, another from Brand B, and maybe even a third from Brand C. Instead of sticking to one, you switch between them regularly. Sounds like a hassle? Maybe. But it could also be the way we all roll in the future. Diverse tech for diverse needs! It helps keep things fresh.

Yeah, I am switching to a Samsung S24 Ultra. I have been an iPhone user for over a decade. Have a Nothing Phone 2 as my secondary phone for work. Several reasons for the switch, bored with Apple, issues with the widgets and screen quality. Plus I have moved completely over to PC for work, live Windows 11, with that the Apple ecosystem isn’t a big deal. Also like the functionality of the Galaxy Watch 6 better than my Apple watch.
I'm genuinely interested in what you see in the Galaxy Watch, the standard Apple Watch has been better in every task I've thrown at the last 3 Galaxy Watches and has been the wost part of the shift away from Apple.
Only thing i don’t like is the no keyboard hectic feedback like my xs max phone 📱

I still have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and I wanted to update to 15 but I don’t think I will. I’m at the point now that I don’t care what phone I have. If my 11 were to break I would probably buy a used iPhone or just get a new iPhone SE.
15 plus is a good shout for an upgrade
I had the 12 pro max and So since I’ve used my 15 pro max these are the biggest differences I’ve noticed
1. Battery life is easily 6-8 hours better
2. Camera is better
3. Phone is way louder than my 12 pro max
4. The Dynamic Island is cool how they take an annoying notch and make it cool
5. My air pods connect faster
I like to call autocorrect on the iPhone autoincorrect!
I turned off live photos, they're annoying. The default camera app needs a button to pause video recording. Knowing Apple they will probably make you buy the iPhone 16 to get the AI features.
I have the iPhone 13 Pro not upgrading until 17 or 18 Max or Ultra whatever they call it.
I upgraded from the 11 Pro Max to the 15 Plus and it's totally worth it!
I bought the 15 pro max… i previously had a 14 pro max and theres a couple of differences i noticed… the battery life was horrendous on the 14 pro max it depleted so quickly. 14 pro max was a very solid heavy weight phone but felt nice and premium. Other hand the 15 pro max battery life after 5 months is still 100% and the phone is very light plus they added a usb-c port.. i think the action button on the side is pointless but cool for no reason.. cameras are the exact same which i think apple needs to work on. And im actually looking forward to an apple foldable phone…

This is why I have both, samsung z fold 5 and 15 pro. Was tired of going back and forth and IOS is outdated, boring and needs overhaul hopefully for ios 18. Have to have iphone for family reasons but i use the fold 5 for everything else. Also, use apple watch and have galaxy watch 6 classic which i think is more elegant looking. If you can afford to use both just do it.. but if i had to use just one.. s24 ultra all day.
Love all your content my favorite line from this was it’s time for Siri to shit or get off the pot 😂 but all that aside I want more actions that you can program for the action button also iOS still needs to be more customizable

Live voice mail doesn’t work here in NZ so I don’t really get any benefit there.
USBC is no great advantage. My keyboard needs Lightning, my AirPods need Lightning etc. it’s actually less convenient to not have Lightning on the phone!
Swipe typing is abysmal on the iPhone. Utterly awful.
Auto correct isn’t great as you say. Mine corrects things using substitutes I’ve never typed in my life. Bizarre.

Great content. It's too bad you can't take the widgets you want and put them all in one little square on the home screen. This way, you get 98% wallpaper on the home screen. Wait, you can 😮 just not an iPhone. I've had my car phone claw for over a year. Works perfect. And it only cost me 25 bucks. I heard that the iPhone 16pro max is gonna have a 6.9 inch display😮. So what's next? The s pen built in🤔

For me the iPhone 15 pro Max seems more prone to scratches than the XS Max I owned before. I already have 2 visible scratches on the screen after 6 months of owning whereas my iPhone XS Max virtually had none in more than 5 years. So this point is a disappointment for me. Other than that, the iPhone 15 pro Max is great.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is just a 12 Pro Max version 4. Same design and user interface. The big feature upgrade this year is a useless button. The 5x camera looks good until you realise that the old 2.5/3x range is worse. I want to upgrade, but is just not worth it.
My iPhone 15 plus is my secondary phone. And my Galaxy s23 ultra my primary phone. Samsung is more diverse, and I love it more.
My always on display keeps disappearing at night. When i wake up i need to tap the display to make it appear. How do i fix this?!
You probably have it set to do not disturb at a certain time or you have. a sleep focus set for 10 or 11 PM.

I switched to S24 Ultra. I see no value for iPhone. Sold away my old watch. I’m tired of same updates and no real value. I think I can live with iPhone 11. Nothing that makes me buy iPhone 15*

Upgrading tomorrow from the iPhone 12 to Samsung Galaxy S24+. Apple isn't making good decisions with their tech and there's no good reason to upgrade to iPhone 15 IMO. Even the ecosystem Apple's been trying to build doesn't seem as cohesive as it once felt. And the Apple devices are getting more expensive, but have far fewer features than their Android counterparts.
Bought iPhone 12 for $250. I've also used a iPhone 15. I honestly don't know why you would pay $600-700 more for the new one.
iPhone is becoming more and more boring. The only reason I am stuck with Apple is their ecosystem and specifically iMessage, since family and friends all exist their in groups. I tried Samsung 24 Ultra and I loved it but had to switch back and I hated Apple so much for that. Keep up the good work man!

Here's the deal I really need your help with this guys cause I'm really struggling. I'm having a really difficult time with Apple right now I have all their products I have the Apple Watch Ultra which I really like probably my favorite Apple product and then I have my iPhone 15 Pro Max Win terabyte I have a MacBook Pro I have a 2018 iPad Pro Still works great but here's my issue. There's no multitasking on my phone which is killing me and my iPhone 15 Pro Max feels exactly like my iPhone 13 Pro Max, which felt like my iPhone 11 felt like my iPhone X and so many ways. I don't know if I'm going crazy, but it's really hard to buy the same phone over and over again and Siri is complete garbage and I really want company is going to lean into AI and also lean into strong features like multitasking and things that Samsung is doing and I think someone said it when they said Apple wants to sell you multiple products so if they make one product better than the other product, you might just buy one product. I feel that way about the iPhone if it were as good as the Samsung phones with multitasking in AI maybe wouldn't buy that tablets me know your thoughts I'm just getting bored with Apple and I feel like they never really innovate that much and I'm use all their default apps because I try to support the stock situation but I really find myself bored. Let me know if you can help me through this, I wonder if I should get a Samsung S24 ultra or S25 ultra down the line to feel something different.
Have you guys ever felt this way here's another thing voice texting on iPhone is painful. I remember having android phones and really appreciating how accurate the voice texting was that actually actually bumps me out about Apple to. Also, how can you sell? A premium smartphone has to have such a terrible assistant. Siri literally feels like they just forgot and literally don't care anymore.
Thoughts 💭 make it make sense I didn't wanna leave Apple, but I feel like apples leaving me and it's really hard to make sense of it all right now.

I did the exact opposite I was a Samsung Knight I use to talk trash about how behind they were and all the things that Samsung users do 😅……then like I just got tired of the samething…… so I tried Apple absolutely loved it …it fits my needs way more even though I had multitask I didn’t use it u had stylus didn’t use it ….so I think you should really think about what you need …if you wanna try Samsung don’t get rid of all your devices unless you think your gonna go with Samsung eco system …which it’s bad but isn’t Apple can’t explain that 😂

My story is the same as yours,I was an apple sheep all the way,I have MacBook ,iPad Pro ,AirPods Pro , 2 home pod mini and an iPhone 15 pro max . But my love for iPhone starts to fade because I upgraded every year but I feel like I have the same phone for years . When the galaxy s 24 ultra launched i really wanted to try it but I was afraid I will miss my iPhone like I always do when I try to switch phones . I just bought the s24 ultra and kept my iPhone as well just in case 😂 I was all in the ecosystem so I decide to put all my stuff in google , google fotos, google drive ,google notes ,google agenda , google contacts . To my surprise I don’t miss the iPhone what so ever ! If you download all google apps on your other apple device everything stays synchronized it works perfectly. The day you want an iPhone again all your stuff from android will be in your google accounts , so you have nothing to loose ! The only thing I miss is my Apple Watch , but my iPhone is history for now . Greetings from Belgium

The only reason why I am even keeping this iphone is I like the Apple Ultra watch (I have a Ipad pro, also). To this DAY I still miss my old Samsung Note 9 lol. I switched ONLY because Samsung stopped supporting it, and at the time, Apple supported their phones the longest. Not so much now, since both Samsung AND Google guarantees support for 7 years 😮
