  • Dont even try to open up the trap and get a snake to go down! Is it possible to get a snake to go down? Yes, but its very hard and can take a LONG time and it will only piss you off! I don't even bother trying to clear back to back drains when they are cast iron or galvanized steel. If it's ABS, no problemo! Any other drainage material...I AM GETTING ON THE ROOF.

I use a Ridgid k50 on roof vents like this all the time and the 5/8” cable with a drop head will definitely go through. I like that Duracable machine though!

Is there a trick to ensure you go downstream when you get the drain line from the stack? I do camera inspections from the roof, and sometimes I get pointed upstream. I'm going from a 3" stack so maybe that is my issue. TIA

@oregonhomeinspections3692 no unfortunately... have to hope the original plumber installed the proper fitting which is a wye w 45 or a combi. If proper fittings are in place you don't have an issue

Fill sinks half way. Run snake with no head. In and out in 20 min

It’s grease, soft stoppage, the head is likely ripping right thru the stoppage

I think they are good in certain circumstances. I only use my chains to tear out roots and occassionally use them in a kitchen sink drain. Problem with those cables is they are really hard to get around 90s, 45s. They work best with straight shots.
