Replacing a balancing valve on a high rise building
There's an aerator/filter at the end of the tub spout. Remove it. It's adding too much restriction. Yes, the water won't look as nice flowing out, but at least it will work.
if you cant replace the pipe to the spout, you can install some kind of shut off inline with the shower head.
5:29 Assbrook
What the hell is going on? They killed a 1970s American state Washbrook urinal into a 2023 Washbrook urinal
Just wait until you see their rain head prices
Did the diverter work ok when it was intalled new? If so my money is on a dirty aerator on the spout causing back pressure. And as far as $500 goes, we have been blessed with insane inflation numbers. My $4 toothpaste now costs $10 to $13 depending on day of the week. I couldn't even begin to imagine how much it would cost me on the West coast. I'm surprised $500 is all it was in CA. KEEP UP THE GOOD VIDEOS
I like your caulk!... Sorry! I had to!
From the shower valve to the tup spout, they should of used 1/2 in copper. Im sure they used PEX or CPVC, its restricting the flow. Whom ever installed the shower vavle did not read the manuel, must of been hand man install or tile guy.
I got a Gohler for two fitty
usually this problem happens when you are using pex to the tub spouts, in the manual it specifically says use 1/2 copper tubing.
drop pipe for the spout is plumbed in pex b. Too much restriction.
Nothing cooler than $500.00 Kohler!
You should check the house pressure. Too much back pressure will make the water climb up the shower head. You can test it by re installing the old tub spout and turn on a few fixtures to test.
At times I changed the cartridge out. I had at 1 house on 1 shower I changed the cartridge 5 times before I figured out Kohler at times sucks, even on other trims and tub spouts that's a regular problem for Kohler
The tub spout is restricting the water to the point it is being pushed up to the shower head.
I agree . Remove that aerator from the spout.
That is a Kohler Parallel Rite-Temp. As much as I was wanting to call BS on that being a $500 shower head she might be right. The trim kit alone is $730 bucks. And that’s without the valve! Look it up, I couldn’t believe it either.
That is a Kohler Parallel Rite-Temp. As much as I was wanting to call BS on that being a $500 shower head she might be right. The trim kit alone is $730 bucks. And that’s without the valve! Look it up, I couldn’t believe it either.
That tub spout is too far from the valve , needs to be atleast 8-10" from valve or you have issues like that , another on ive seen is pex to the tub spout , thats a no no
Somebody probably ran pex from the valve to the shower arm. Which you cannot do. I’ve came across this several times.
I understand why you can’t run pex from the valve to the tub spout but what’s the problem with running it to the shower head? It’s common practice in my area to run copper to the tub spout and pex to the shower head. As far as I know it doesn’t cause any problems.
Sometimes it works sometimes it don't. Every situation is different. PEX fittings restrict so much more than sweat or press and of course push fit...
@@trent1755 when I’ve seen them do it they always use expansion pex fittings so they don’t restrict as much water as other pex fittings. However I still don’t see how it could possibly be a problem with the shower riser. The shower head could never dream of letting as much water through as the pex fitting does and since pex feeds the faucet anyways what’s the problem. To be clear I’m talking about pex from the shower valve to the shower head, I understand why you can’t run pex to the spout.
Wow! $500 for is outrageous for that Kohler shower head. It better scrub your back for that price
And suck you know what 😂
That tub spout is wimpy, like kitchen sink.
They have that whole trim kit from Ferguson kitchen kohler brand everything for 500 and change but they also have some close to that kohler brand for around 230 so I think she’s maybe confused about what the whole trim kit cost
Yeah I’m not sure how kitchen got in that 😅
Kohler used to be, USED TO BE hi-end fixtures. When made in Wisconsin U.S.A.. Now you can go to a reputable plumbing supply place who only sells to plumbers, get a Kohler fixture & it’s Made In U.S.A… The trick they pull (e.g. Kohler) is the valve body might be a Made In America “Rite-Temp” body but the spout - shower head is Chinese junk. It’s getting so a reputable plumber can’t supply a customer with ALL quality plbg. fixtures. It’s all a fucking game. And it’s maddening !
Is it a "Kohler 24805-BL Parallel™"? Looks the same and same # of nozzles anyway. It's $114 on Amazon. If so the other $386 could be the CA taxes. Or maybe CA forced Kohler to do a 5 year study on the showerhead's impact on protected native amoebas who identify as "unhomed" or "trans", thus forcing Kohler to pass that expense on to customers.
Yep that is the Kohler Parallel. From what I can tell the whole trim kit is like $700+ dollars. That is from Kohler though you can probably find it cheaper on Amazon or other websites but that thing definitely ain’t cheap. Made cheap I’m sure. Some people have more money than sense
Funniest $hit I've read all day. Sad thing is it could be true in CA.
Either she got ripped off hard or she wanted to flex on you because those rain shower systems are not even $500 and she doesn’t even have the handheld shower. Insane!
Your are going to lose sleep over the price, it's going to nag you and deprive you of some well deserved shuteye. I might have put the kibosh and put a curse on sleep by just blathering on about it, JK
Its kohler, thats why, saw the head for 239 online so 500 is feasible if from a local supply.
my $20 Walmart WaterPik showerhead still going strong 💪
How much was that shower head again?😊
I found this video because I was looking for the difference between the Drake and the Drake II. I had heard that the Drake is the best flushing toilet... so is the Drake II just a slight updated version? The Toto website doesn't help at all. By chance have you heard of the Drake II and know the/any difference?
Hmmm, I have never seen one of those.
I suspect you were using the puller in the other video incorrectly. The body of the cartredge has to be turned slightly to break the stuck seals free...
Stupid to put a window in a shower stall. Just asking for a water damaged wall.
Damn that's a sloppy concrete patch. A mason you are not.
Should have used a snake with a cable core. Stupid to winch on that one.
I used to be an employee for the San Diego Housing Commission. We had a lot of "that case did not feel good" clients too. If her ass wasn't so damn bulbous maybe it would have not been in her way... I wouldn't do any jobs at that skid row Hell hole. There are plenty of other repairs to do elsewhere.
You gotta move. Plumbers are needed everywhere. Steve's about to retire. Buy out his biz and change out a few easy AC caps.
you too use wax w/o horn, less call-backs?
@@tomdale1313 I've seen the horned wax leak multiple times
what tool is that and the blade???
Great job as always. Steve Lav is a RUclips legend
Enjoyed the Steve Lavimoniere reference! He hates those waxes! Lol!
Homeless folks need functional plumbing too. You took care of business and lived to get your tools and get out ; )
Nice repair job. Lucky the flange was in one piece. Like the milwaukee grinder. See it can be usefull
you do a few jobs there over the course of a few months, thxs for sharing...
shes a leaker mama!!
Someone was kicking the toilet hard. Lucky the flange was in good shape and not plastic or plastic with thin metal ring. I would be using 4200 or 5200 to glue them down.
She's already got a GoFundMe started for the injury she suffered from your case! I knew you were in LA when I noticed a lack of white people! =oP
Looks like the closet bolts were deliberately bent that way. Guard your tools with your life.
keep eye on it looked like water fell from floor above not from cast . nice job Im thinking you need a helper on this jobsite or accompanied by staff . for your protection legaly , and your equiptment , personal security, a witness for bogus accusations extra hundred an hour whatever your costs are . Might need a w/c or a 1/4 bend. cast iron fitting could have sand hole or crack too
Is the building for the homeless, probably treat it like crap
@@nicolasmuniz9452 yes and yes they do
That's why they are homeless. Renters have to pass credit and background checks. That's been true for at least the last 30 years or more.
