These jobs amaze me -- seems overwhelming to a handyman like me but you, a professional plumber, just tear right into it and get it done! I learn so much from these videos! Much respect!
All the old galvanized out there gives plumbing contractors real job security. You have a great system. Diagnose, expose, remove, replace. All the best dude!
Yeah everything is old when he works. A lot of it’s from the 50s/60s post war housing boom in California. Now just imagine how much job security all these new buildings will be in 15 or 20 years with their pex and cpvc plastic water lines. The galvanized and copper would last up to 60 - 70 years now I want to see how long all this plastic lasts. We’re already seeing that it’s lifespan will be less than impressive.
Reminds me of a car repair. The mechanic says it just a loose bolt, but I am going to have to remove the engine to get to it. Easy repair, heaps of prep and refitting accessories.
I've noticed you guys don't use much pex, is this because of a potential for rodent-caused leaks? or is it just the preferred method in that area to use copper?
