  • We made a tool to help us unclog a bathroom sink using air pressure.
Questions & Answers - Inspired by actual RUclips comments:
Q: Can I leave a thoughtful comment, tip, or constructive criticism regarding your video?
    A: Sure.
Q: Will you advise me on a particular problem I’m having that is similar to what I saw in the video?
    A: Depends.
Q: I’m upset that you forced me to watch your free video and through the use of subtle mind control you removed my ability to press the stop button. Now, what are you going to do to make this right?
    A: Send you an invoice?
Q: One time I used a potato for a camera and videotaped two kids jumping on a trampoline - it was easy. I’ve never edited a video but can I comment about how easy it is?
    A: LOL
Q: I have problems with obsession and you are my new BFF. Will you talk to me 24/7/365?
    A: No.
Q: Where do you live? Where do you live? Where do you live?
    A: Sigh, see above.
Q: Can I meet with you?
    A: Dude.
Q: I’m a professional and as such I have a deep belief that ONLY professionals are allowed to do what you did in the video. I have a God given right to charge excessively for it too. Are you professionals?
    A: No.
Q: You didn’t show the circuit-breaker being turned off - therefore it didn’t happen. Won’t people get poked with 120 volts from their finger up to their elbow if they don’t turn the breaker or switch off?
A: Yes, we suspect they would.
Q: I’m 80 and have 85 years-experience. You did it wrong in your video. Will you remove your video from RUclips?
A: No, and your experience makes you sound old and inflexible.
Q: I did a safety-audit regarding your video - can I post all of the unsafe things you did?
    A: It’s a safe bet we’ll delete your comments.
Q: I’m a professional and your video diminishes my ability to earn a living. Can I leave a comment whining about that?
    A: Hmm, let’s see. No.
Q: I’m smart and you’re dumb. I know everything there is to know about the subject you showed in the video and I want to blather on about how much I know. Can I talk about me?
A: You need to get yourself a girl, mate.
Q: I’m 40 and live in my mom’s basement. I’m feeling poorly about myself and I want to take it out on you with complete anonymity, can I do that?
A: Sure. As long as you don’t mind us deleting your comment and banning you from the channel.
    Q: Hey! I have a right to say whatever I want don’t I?
A: Yes. Yes you do. See above.

@greenhawk46 That is true. The low purchase price for small air compressors makes it an attractive alternatives when you consider the cost of calling a plumber one or more times. And you get to keep the compressor and use it for other projects as well. I have one large and one small compressor - the big one is the workhorse of my shop.

Thanks. I had seen this done on a toilet a year or 2 ago, but I didn't know the air pressure. Our house is a mobile home added onto and with added duct work is very hard to access the pipes underneath. I rigged the hose on my small air compressor up wotih ductape on the hose fitting and used electric tape to fix it to the pipe under the sink below the trap. Worked in seconds! I had always managed to clear it for the last 18 years, but the clogwas too bad till I used the air. It took about 50-60 lbs pressure.

Thanks Bob, it's all a bit of a cluge but with a little creativity the job gets done in an unconventional manner. Nice work and thanks for watching.

Have tried the vacuum method and has so far worked for me. Would not try using pressure as if any joints are compression they might push apart whereas vacuum pulls them tighter. but just an observation you might get away with it for a couple of goes?

well, if i were a plumber i'd definitely make such a device but actually unscrewing & cleaning (or just replacing) the p-trap takes just a few minutes.

Now come up with a nifty name for your invention; while researching a tool I need to stop a 1 inch dripping supply line so that I could solder it I found a stopper called “dammit“.

CO2 cartridge (what you use in BB guns) work too.Thats what plumbers use. No need to buy expensive compressor. CO2 cartridge is about $5. You will have to modify the end of the hose for a CO2 fitting.

It sounds like a great idea but I am surprised that it worked because all drains are supposed to be vented. So does the block have to be upstream of the vent? If it is down stream, then would not all the air pressure be bled out through the vent (along with the water!)

The clog must have been before it reached the vent stack. He mentioned he did not take apart the plumbing so it very well could have been clogged in the trap (pretty common) which would make it well before the vent.

my rig was considerable more silly looking than yours, but, I didn’t spend a dime.
    junk on hand.
    after several other attempts,
including shop-vac, which, along with alternating compressor, would have been my next move.
still got the kitchen to do.

What are the parts that you bought to make that air compressor tool, I'm having the same problem with my bathroom sink. And already trouble finding the black tubing that you are using in this video please help.

Hi Xzavis, I bought everything at Home Depot - my suggestion would be to freeze the video when the tool is in full view and walk the isles of HD to find each of the pieces. I know that's not a very good solution but that is what it took to get this thing cobbled together. Be aware that when you add the air pressure it's going to try to escape from somewhere - either the vent leading to the roof of the overflow hole in the sink or tub. You REALLY need a helper - a rag soaked in water makes a pretty good plug for some of these escape points. If the clog is downstream of the vent your only option is to agitate the clog by adding air pressure and pulling off and then repeating. It does work though.

Home Despot wants $79 for a sewer snake for four hours; the blonde Bimbo there could piss a white man off with her unprofessionalism and malice, so I thought of this.

You had to get under the sink to take out stopper why not just undo the trap and stick it in there.

    • @dirtyshirtinfo

Hi Richard, that would work too. In fact, that's a great idea....

Lol on how he makes it sound like he I vented this. We have been using co2 for years. This method does not fix your problem just opens the clog . Snaking is the best way to clear a drain

He invented the idea that you can cobble something together for $10 bucks and fix it yourself.
