re: Loretta, I like to think that while she wasn't herself an albinauric, she saw their poor treatment and was moved to protect them from her former masters. Mostly just cause it'd be nice to see another kind-hearted person in the narrative (and making her death and the failing of the Halig tree all the sadder). My friend also put forth their own headcanon that she can't walk as a disability so she went to learn from the first-gen albinaurics, which is where they gained her sympathy and eventual protection.

    • @jungtothehuimang
      @jungtothehuimang 6 месяцев назад

I think considering that she doesn't bleed silver it is likely she isn't an albanauric, but I also enjoy the idea of her being a disabled human who saw the albanauric wolf archers and realized her disability couldn't stop her from becoming the warrior she wanted to become. And I think being disabled herself would give her a unique empathy for the first generation albanaurics, who I think would share many of the same hardships and pains.

Worth noting that Castle Sol's heraldry, an eclipse with the sun specifically appearing to bleed a line of light, visually resembles the form of a needle, with an eye at the top and a long shaft emerging from it. This seems to imply, at least to me, that Miquella may well have been the one who commissioned the castle in the first place, especially given the name directly relates to the purpose he was to use it for: a ritual involving the sun.
Also, as has been noted by Tarnished Archaeologist, the Haligtree has many statues symbolically representing Miquella as an adult with a massive staff which appears to be in the form of a needle, and at least one of them depicts him walking amongst the roots of the Erdtree. Given the Erdtree's roots are deeply infected by Deathroot, and he is building a new sacred tree, it would appear that his intent is to use his sacred needles' capacity to eliminate the influence of outer gods to eliminate the power of the Rune of Death (which probably draws from the death god that is the patron of the birds with the same name) at the Deathroots' source: that is, that he intends to stab Godwyn the Golden's body and purify his body of the infection. Given the fact that there is a superstition/folk understanding that stabbing a tree with copper nails will kill it in its roots, he may well understand that this might kill the Erdtree in the process; thus, perhaps, he might have planted the Haligtree with the understanding it might need to be a replacement.

It's actually wild to think that, maybe the elden ring wasn't always inside Marika/Radagon, and that it could be there because it's using the 'mesh' of Radagon to hold it together, especially since in earlier depictions of the elden ring such as in farum azula, the elden ring doesn't appear to have the cross hatch pattern behind it (unless I'm not seeing it).

The channel Smoughtown did a great video on the ancient dragons and in it he explains the biblical connection Dragon communion and the Wyrms have. The mention of the Wyrms being cursed to crawl the earth on their bellies is a direct reference to Genesis, where the serpents were cursed to forever crawl on their bellies for deceiving Eve. It just drives home that the transformation into wyrms is the result of the warriors attempting to circumvent their natural place and reach above their station. They wanted to fly with the dragons and instead have to crawl in the dirt forever.

Blacksmith here. We don't melt down things to repair them. If the item is made out of Iron or Steel, we do something called Forge welding (If you do it the traditional way).
It's essentially, you heat up the two parts, and sprinkle some steel filings between them. Then add a flux (Borax or pulverized quarts) Then heat the items up to the point where the metal starts to spark. Then gently hit them and gradually starts to hit harder and harder. This way the metals fuze, and becomes one again.
You could also cheat, and just grab a tig welder. But a real blacksmith will not allow sutch wizardry in their forge.

I have a theory regarding the eclipse. The symbol of the eclipse does also show up on the shields of the undead mausoleum soldiers and is said to ward off death. Now what does the eclipse resemble? ...... None other than the full cursemark of death. Maybe they tried something similar to Fia, but failed: Create a rune that would modify the Golden Order and allow the dead to live in death.

one question i have is the connection between Godrick and Godwyn, both bearing the title of "golden". When we fight the shard bearers, it seems we fight them as they somewhat see themselves. Horuah-loux being one of note who denounces his previous name to fight you.
Morgott refers to Godrick as "the godlen" and that boy sure loves gold, but he and his rememberance are of Grafting, the path he chose to make himslef out of like when Marika tells her kids to make something out of themselves.
Godwyn, before we know him as the price of death, was called Godwyn the Golden. Now going by his death powers that he earned and had to force himself to adopt, but not golden anymore.
Is the title of "golden" a required seat to be filled in the Golden order? if so, what role does it bear in the story?

Can someone tell me why Ranni had herself killed and why was the simultaneous attack of godwyn the reason the deathmark was only half completed, and why is it that Ranni's flesh perished whilst godwyn's soul did? I understand that Ranni wanted to "cast aside her empyrean flesh" but how is it that she was able to do this with such accuracy? how could she know she would be half-killed?

    • @andrewlynch4126
      @andrewlynch4126 Год назад +1

My best guess is that there is a soul killing and body killing “part” of the rune of death and that Ranni was able to split them up as she is clearly very powerful. She then gave the black knife assassins the soul killing part and used the body killing part when she sensed the other being used. As for why Godwyn, he may have been the easiest/least important to her if she didn’t want to kill her full brothers and Melina and Miquiola are too strong and the Omen twins were hidden away, this is assuming she needed a demi-god to die along with her. Alternatively Ranni could have given the assassins the deathmark and just waited for them to kill somebody and it just happened to be Godwyn, or Godwyn wanted to be killed for some reason and Ranni conspired with him. But ya that’s the best I can come up with

One of my personal theories about Loretta is that she learned her archery from the albinauric women combined it with her carian weapon creation to make her signature sorcery. Then at some point her legs were damaged and thats why she never gets off her horse. Them both having useless legs caused her to empathize with the albinaurics more. At least that's my head cannon.

About the pieces of the elden ring, there is a theory I've heard floating around. Even if we were to gather all the great runes and restore it, the current version is likely only a part of an older version of the ring. I liked to think the Elden RIng inside of Radagon is supposed to be simply both Radagon and Marika's rings combined because it has the crisscross that is Radadgon's and the circles and 'anchor' of Marika's, because if you look at Marika's statues all throughout the Lands Between her dress is flown in the shape of circles so i like to think the circles in the ring is part of Marika's portion of the ring, so both Marika and Radagon's rings are combined, inside of his body because they are the same person, not my best way of wording it all i know, its just my personal theory

  • @brickch.6502

One small problem I have with the theory about radagon grafting the Elden ring back together is the fact that he's supposedly using his rune. We know tho that we can introduce new runes to restore the ring, and although Radagon's rune seems to be already part of the whole (the depicted Elden ring in farum azula has the crossed pattern), it'd be pretty weird that he'd include it in the ring as a way to restore it. Idk, I have to think more about it. I'm probably missing a piece here...

Radagon's Mesh, or the crisscross pattern is something that is also represented in many Carian and Raya Lucarian Magical seals. Many item descriptions say that Radagon Learnt Magic while he was married to Rennala. It's reflected in the way that a lot of his Incantations are Faith and Intelligence Hybrids. We can assume that the Radagon Mesh is something he learnt from his time with Rennala,An Erdtree Version of the original stargazer magic.

Because of Latenna's quest, we know it is possible of Albinourics to procreate but either something stopped them, or that they originally weren't, but a method was created to do so. Latenna and Lobo came to Liurnia all the way from the lands of the Halig Tree to find this birthing droplet, but how did she know it was there? Perhaps because Loretta knew it was there and told them because she'd been conceived by it?

What I find interesting is that there is an emergent story in the symbolism of the moon and stars in the Carian family. First, I want to bring up tarot/astrology/esotericism. In tarot the Moon is akin to the subconscious realm, sometimes the collective unconscious, and the unknown, which sometimes means fear as well; in effect, the unseen realm of the mind. The Star on the other hand represents hope, the convergence of body and mind, and horizons of opportunity. In astrology, the moon is the sphere of emotionality, and in qabbala, the moon is associated with the sphere of Yesod, which may well be seen as a combination of both of the former ideas and more, in the context of the microcosm. With that out of the way, I want to pivot to the obvious point that the full moon only shines with the light of the sun and the earth in the middle, and the dark moon is that side which is turned away from the sun. This to me shows that when Rennala enchants the academy with the full moon, she is shining with the light of the stars she has studied, but when Ranni takes it upon herself to take on the dark moon, she embraces the unknown, the fear, and chooses not to follow whatever might be told to her as fate. Not only does she reject the fate of the greater will, but even when we set the stars in motion for her, she does not desire their light of hope as comfort. She dares to desire to incorporate the shadow into the ego, to live with the fear and be stronger. Ranni’s ending is the ultimate fate does not define you ending, but it’s not an ending full of comfort and joy. Pain will meet you along your path, at every turn, and from every angle, but were it not for the journey there would be no freedom, no expression of the will to life, to overcome, and to realize oneself as their best self.
Another thing that’s interesting in relation to this, the ghost at Castle Sol looking towards the Haligtree claims that they were unable to bring about a solar eclipse through prayer, and therefore cannot make it to the Haligtree, begging for forgiveness from Miquella. The Kosmos vid below should explain one possibility for the purpose for this is. During a solar eclipse, the dark new moon completely covers the sun, leaving only a radiant glow around it. This to me is interesting, because it brings together the themes of turning away from fate as mentioned above, with the radiance of golden sun yet in tact. The sun is symbolically linked to gold in alchemy, and both are linked to the sphere Tipheret, just above Yesod. Below Yesod is Malkuth, which is the plane of materiality, literally and symbolically earth. The spheres on the tree of life mirror the alignment of celestial bodies, in perfect syzygy. Whether Miquella intended to bring about the eclipse for the purposes of restoring a soul Godwyn or Ensha, there is at least some potential to me that this eclipse has something to do with shedding his curse, which I think transferred to the Haligtree with his soul. One potential answer arises by once again viewing the center pillar on the tree of life, and seeing that perhaps, Miquella sought his own path to divinity (Kether which is separated and above the aforementioned sephirot) irrespective of the Greater Will. This, in my opinion, might make the husk in Mohgwyn palace a body with no soul, like that of Godwyn’s. However, since there is no life remaining, only the blood which Mohg himself controls, it is not as metaphysically profane as that of Godwyn’s corpse, and continues to grow and develop omen-like qualities, as a result of the Formless Mother’s influence on Mogh.

I like the explanation of the ring been broken so now it make more sense that the runes that we hunt are additional round parts to the present Elden ring, now we can see how we get so many round circles in the Elden ring in Farum. Different than most people that think that the three circles are some of the runes we are hunting now.

I have an interesting idea. Perhaps the reason Loretta has albinurac traits while still having red blood, is because the first Gen albinuracs are made from her DNA. This would help explain why she would do something as drastic as leaving her post to hide them at the haligtree

4:48 --- I get that when you say "original" you mean "original as it existed for the golden order," but the ORIGINAL original, I think, is what we see in Farum Azula. The one we see there has all these wispy bits and so much more detail. My guess is that as each new ruler got their hands on the ring, they'd remove bits as they saw fit; the most obvious example being Marika and removal of destined death.
Another example could be that, perhaps there was a part of the ring that allowed for manipulation of time (a la Farum Azula and Placidusax) that was later removed.

Something noteworthy here, imo, is that it’s interesting that Godrick seems to defy his mother at this point in time. He is honoring the dragons and employing the banished knights. Stormveil doesn’t really seem like outskirts, unless we are saying Leyndell is basically civilization itself.

I'm betting it was Godefroy who was the one that imprissoned Nial's men, not Godrick. Godrick was a coward that preyed on the weak, and Godefroy was another who was obsessed with grafting, though the only extra bit of lore we get was that he was jailed by a guy. It could be that Godefroy was actually a fearsome conquerer using stolen power, and Godrick is merely a cheap imitation even in that front.

I have been looking into the fire pillars symbols from the Hallowhorn grounds and Siofra river and it seems to me it could be telling the story origin of the ancient followers and of the old men statues seen in Uhl Palace. A theory of mine is that the ancient followers was sorcerers that got rejected, for some reason, by the civilization of their time. They then found the existence of an ancient spirit, as their name says, they became followers and with time they started to convert their magic sorcery into a more nature and wild style, all that, so their souls could keep living forever and free of the problems of civilization.
Inverting the symbols order seen in the same fire pillars, the story could be the opposite. The ancient followers could be the past of all astrologers, sorcerers and magic users, but my first hypothesis, seems way cooler to me

Commander Niall's backstory is that he used to lead a band of mercenaries, but was ambushed by a rival army. In the escape, some of his men fled and survived, though most died, and Niall himself fell into a years-long coma.
When Niall awoke, he found himself legless and forced to flee from the same army that ambushed him and his mercenaries. He barely escaped, being both aided and hunted by fiery ghosts of his past.
When the dust settled, an old friend that helped Niall escape offered him the prosthesis he wears, and together they built an army of no nation. Niall and his soldiers were again ostensibly just mercenaries, but now they had a new base to call home, in Castle Sol, a far cry from their past as a rag tag group of wandering soldiers.
I'm joking of course, but the inspiration is there, plain and in text. It's interesting to see that From Software took inspiration from another open world game, one of the best ever made.

Welcome back! This was such a great lore video. I do not think that Loretta herself was an Albunaric. The red blood is too much of a give away, but she might be something like an “Elf Friend” like we see in Lord of the Rings, a human ally or even someone who helped inspire the creation of the Albunarics. We do know they are a created species, and it was likely the Cadian Royal family was behind that.

Love the content!! I've got one for you. This could be a lore question but also something of a mechanics question. What do you think "Arcane" is actually?
So to compare -Sorceries require Intelligence because sorceries are like a science in Elden Ring, attaining power and insight from the stars with glintstones as conduits.
Faith is power derived from divine ritual/practice, attunement to "higher" powers and affinity for channeling these sources of power like the Erdtree or Frenzy Flame.
But so then...what is Arcane? Arcane is linked to the albinaurics, poison, bleed, occult damage, but also bloodflame incantations/blood sorceries and Dragon Communion. I guess its like the "dark arts" or occult magic?
    Would love your thoughts

where's that "prologue text" from? i've never seen that version of the introduction before.
regarding Radagon's crosshatch...it's unlikely it represents the grafting you suggest, since all the Radagon statues have that design, as well as the seal on Raya Lucaria, and it's what covers the mouths of the preceptors' masks. that was Radagon's symbol long before the Elden Ring was shattered. some of the statues, and the preceprors' masks are from before Radagon and Marika even merged together.
