Not for all of it. There where moment's where she broke charracter and opened her eye. But it's exusable. It's super difficult keeping one eye closed for prolonged amount of time, as blinking is an instictual thing to do. And blink enough times and you will by reflex open the yey even tho you try not to.
This was so brilliantly done and the dedication to the character while Cosplaying was really impressive. I really want to see you and this channel go far as this much dedication is few and far between but much appreciated.

@DatFox i believe that bloodhound knights in the lore are loyal to their masters until death and so when ranni “died” he either left as his duty was complete and ranni imprisoned him (maybe cause of what he knows about the night of the black knives or to keep him from taking revenge) or he saw ranni as betraying him by killing her body so he was hostile towards her for killing his master.
It's actually revealed in post-launch material that Darriwil's betrayal was more akin to a heresy, wherein, similar to Goldmask, he denied the fallible order or the Lands Between and made the fateful discovery that the Miniature Ranni doll was in fact, cuter in a maid outfit. This shattered the tenant that the Miniature Ranni doll was perfect as it was, and is the heresy which he was persecuted for. Is the Miniature Ranni doll perfect as it is, or, should we strive to put her in a maid uniform, or sailor uniform, as is the fickleness of man? That is for you to decide.
The dolls just have four arms, they were used as body guards for high ranking mages, renna was special and had her doll made to look like her (the snow witch clothing has two sleeves) Ranni now has inherited all rennas suff including her mantle but no longer has her oun body

Great video, and great cosplay, as usual! I think Ranni's four-arms are most strongly connected to the Wraithcallers. The clues lie within the Moonfolk Ruins, which are found near the Cathedral of Manus Celes (which, as you said, is a pivotal location in her questline). The Moonfolk Ruins are infested by Wraithcallers. Thus, I think the Wraithcallers were once called Moonfolk, and given this place's location and its association with Ranni, I believe that the Snow Witch (aka Renna) was one of the Moonfolk. Perhaps the Moonfolk once had bluish skin, perhaps they worshiped the stars? We cannot know, of course. But at some point, I believe these Moonfolk became cursed, and became the Wraithcallers. As you said, the similarities between their magic and Ranni's is uncanny, but their magic does bear the golden/blackish color of deathblight. Perhaps the curse that befell the Moonfolk and transmogrified them might have its origins with the events that Ranni herself precipitated; the very murder of Godwyn. It's an interesting thought, though I don't believe there is much more than this speculative "evidence" to go off of. If you, or anyone else has any thoughts on the matter, I'd be interested to hear it.
after watching your tiktok explaining the age of the stars ending, ive been thinking helplessly about it for days! your deep analysis about why it was the best ending really influenced me. I think Ranni is my favorite character, how she could renounce its body even to go againts what she felt it wasnt the truth (the greater will), and in the end give freedom to every creature, selflessly, because the age of the stars has really started. She sacrificed everything for everyone!
Also bears mentioning that Ranni's actual body can be found at the top of one of the Divine Tower near the Carian Study Hall. It's badly burnt but still with traces of her original red hair.
First things first, i loved your dedication in developing a new form of storytelling in your channel. It's neither a literal narration in third perspective of what happened, neither is a literal reading in form of conversation with your public, but now a very good mix of both ways of story telling. I enjoyed that in the previous video and I loved the execution in this one too. Better paced, better narrated, better edited and an actual better composition of the overall. Thank you for such a dedication, the results were a great video, very entertaining, a good experience indeed. The extra that I was not expecting and indeed showed how much dedicated your were and gave an extra touch to the video: the cosplay. Also, one more thing: I don't know if it was on purpose or it's something that the community isn't talking much about it, but i find it curious to see how you didn't showed more about Ranni being responsible for the night of the Black Knifes and by consequence being the one responsible for killing Godwyn. Now I can't remember if this dialogue is still there or is something that my mind is making up (I need to check if the japanese version stays true to that also) by she even confirms it being the responsible for his murder. Which is something that always bugged my mind when it comes to Ranni's ideals surrounding the Golden Order and the Big Picture of the relationship between Marika and the Golden Order. Although it would make sense, I always found that to be rather... strange. Not bad written, certainly I can see reasons for her to do that - after all, Godwyn was kind of a symbol within the Royal Family, but rather strange. And I totally agree with the end of the video: her ending is the closes to a Happy Ending in this game, she now carry a possible opportunity for this world to be in better hands when it comes to the Natural Order of the world.

Your comments about what Ranni's goals seem to be, the removal of the Outer Gods will on the Lands Between, and her clear links to the moon, stars and night sky, have got me thinking. Fromsoft could have been using different sky boxes to represent the external forces being enacted on the Lands Between. This seems to be backed up by the multiple endings and their different aesthetics (especially the Frenzied Flame and Age of Stars endings). This leads me to believe that if you go for Ranni's ending, what she reveals to us is the ACTUAL night sky of the Lands Between, unobstructed by the will of the Outer Gods. I'm nearly through Ranni's questline after doing all of Rogier's quests beforehand and have found that Ranni has more unique dialogue involving it. Her tone with the Tarnished is even *more* cold and bereft of trust just before she departs for Ainsel River Main. It's quite interesting
Wonderful video, I think it should be noted I don't think she just wanted to end her life or anything. She was orchestrating the murder of Godwyn while also trying to escape or run away from the effects of the two fingers. When the ruin of death is used it kills someone entirely in both Body and Soul so in order to kill two birds with one stone so to speak she had Godwin's soul killed while also having her body killed at the same time so that the Rune of death would do its job while not going overboard

Theory: Ranni can also be looked at as the villain of the story. She was responsible for the death of Godwyn the Golden, which may have drove Marika to destroy the Elden ring over the lost of her child. Godwyn seemed the most beloved of all her children with Godrick and after the shattering war ensued for the shards of the elden ring. Also don't think she contemplated suicide because she had reached out to Rykard about her plans to get rid of the Golden order. So she killed her body (one half of the death rune) and killed Godwyns soul (the second half of the death rune). To create a weapon to kill the two fingers. So basically she killed her brother, started a war that killed thousands, so that she could start a new age.
I think Marika has a good deal more agency than that outlook would provide. In one of the churches of Marika her lingering words revealed that she wished her children to make something of themselves, or else serve as little more than sacrifices. Ranni is truly the only one to follow that edict, by turning on the role provided by the fingers and seeking her own path opposed to clinging to remnants of Marika's power. Marika fomented the conditions that lead to all of the strife, in what I believe was a long game to break free from the greater will.
Marika actually has been planning to shatter the Elden Ring for a long time. There's a lot you can learn about her from Melina. Her chats makes it very clear that Marika is the catalyst for most of The Land Between's problems. The black knives are more connected to Marika than Ranni so Marika herself had a hand in Godwyn's death. Whether she meant for him to be killed or not is up to debate but given her other actions it's very likely she intended for him to die. What's more up for debate is whether Ranni intended for Godwyn to die, personally I say no because it don't really see how it helps her goal. Now I'm not a fan of the suicidal theory, Ranni makes it pretty clear she wants to be free from the golden order. Killing her Impyrean flesh was part of that goal, but why would she need to kill Godwyn to forge a blade capable of killing her two fingers? how even would killing Godwynn forge a blade capable of killing her two fingers? It's made pretty clear in game that she needs the fingerslayer blade, something which already exists. So why would she bother with Godwyn? Why didn't she actually make the blade? Why did she bother with Godwyn, when Radahn is the one preventing access to the eternal city? Well Radahn holding the stars in place also prevents Ranni from using the fingslayer blade so he needs to die anyway. Why take the extra unnecessary step with Godwyn? Edit:there's a theory that Ranni had to kill Godwyn's soul in order to only kill her flesh and only her flesh, so there's a plausible reason if you accept that theory (also fixed me saying the three fingers instead of her two fingers.)

Also the game lore also makes it seem like Godwyn was also a really good guy, like a prettier (debatably) Radhan. He was befriending dragons in life and unlifelong friendships in the middle of a race/religious war. The thing is I don’t think Rani killed him cause of jealousy or any real feelings towards him just, and she didn’t just kill him she turned him into that, and it was all just another thing on the plan checklist. It’s such a cold ruthlessness when u really think about it, which added to her just essentially casting Blaidd aside when the plan required makes me wonder how many people were betrayed along the way. I find it very unnerving

Would have done it every time but needed the achievement for all the ending. She is amazing and to me it is the true ending to the game, I hope you see this, this video ment alot to me I'm insainly invested in this game, story and lore, and you somehow had a few things to say about her I haven't found out myself! Also a eji and blaidd video would be amazing.
This was a great video. Your thoughts on ranni and the doll she inhabits are very different than I’ve previously thought. For me it was a way of showing the multiple sides of her character. The easiest for me was the difference of the astral vs physical of it, same with her faces, giving her four arms instead of two. My focus was so engrossed with her personality and demeanor, that her mentor completely escaped my mind.
Hey just found these videos due to a friend and you put an unbelievable amount of effort into these videos and thank you for it. when you mentioned the marionettes being the form of Ranni's mentor Renna. Another possibility, was Ranni's doll form based on the Marionettes as their found around Rya Lucaria and used as their servants. Selivas maybe using his knowledge of them when crafting her doll form inspiring him to add the 4 arms doesn't seem too far fetched. I'm not saying Ranni's doll form is A marionette rather the similarities aren't a coincidence. Ether way I hope to see more from you you've earned yourself a subscriber.

What i do not often see mentioned, is that the "Age of the Stars" was also what the Nox were desperately seeking by attempting creating a "Lord" out of silver tears. Which to me ties nicely the relationship between the Numens, the Nox, the Carian family, Sellia, and Marika the Betrayer. Also, there are other creatures that have 2 sets of arms: the finger readers crones. Quite the coincidence, eh?

I just finished the Age of Stars ending this weekend, and definitely had questions lol. I'm a bit late to comment here since it's two years later, but I love the cosplay and hearing about the Elden Ring lore in detail. The age of stars was the first ending I got for the game, and I'm pleased it was. To me, this is the most beneficial ending for all.
The lengths you went on this cosplay is admirable! The muscle strength to hold your right eye closed or if done by some other means is pure Dedication, Well Done! Great Character Storyline Lore as well!!
My girlfriend had fun supporting me during my first Elden Ring run. She would open up the wiki on her computer, and hint me on where to look, and what to do to continue the questlines I was following. And as she did, she would gain a very good understanding of the lore. Truly my only one and true maiden. She was so proud to direct me to Ranni's ending for my very first run :p. Clearly one of the best gaming experience of my life. And one of the best ending too.

Hi, late to the party as always. Regarding Ranni's 4 arms. I believe the doll (Ranni) has 4 arms because it's a redecorated marionette, made to resemble her mentor, and the extra arms are just part of the base marionette design. Your commitment to keeping one eye shut is commendable. Good show

While I had a basic understanding of who Ranni was, and what had transpired up to the point in which I'd met her, I wasn't entirely certain of what was being said as I played through who questline. This video helped immensely, though I would have liked to hear more on Blaidd and Iji. That said, wonderful makeup, the dolls cracks were incredibly well done.
It always makes me happy when somebody really _gets_ Ranni. She's not a villain, inflicting an age of massive "fear, doubt, and loneliness" on everybody left alive like some kind of Machiavellian cosmic EMO(//_-). Her godhood is _restoring those things to their proper place in the world._ The Golden Order and the world stagnated because Marika's messing with the Great Rune of Death was essentially an attempt to rip the black parts out of a Yin-Yang and still have a functioning Yin-Yang, in a context where the symbol has literal effects on what it denotes. Ranni and Goldmask both realized the Golden Order's problem was Marika & Family being too "hands-on" and imposing their own human flaws on reality. Ranni's solution is that without her physically present as a reigning queen and a magic tree dominating the horizon at all hours, the world has room for real fear, doubt, and loneliness, but that means room for real courage, faith, and companionship. _Starting with the fact she could only accomplish this _*_with_*_ "consort eternal."_

after watching your tiktok explaining the age of the stars ending, ive been thinking helplessly about it for days! your deep analysis about why it was the best ending really influenced me. I think Ranni is my favorite character, how she could renounce its body even to go againts what she felt it wasnt the truth (the greater will), and in the end give freedom to every creature, selflessly, because the age of the stars has really started. She sacrificed everything for everyone!
Also bears mentioning that Ranni's actual body can be found at the top of one of the Divine Tower near the Carian Study Hall. It's badly burnt but still with traces of her original red hair.

First things first, i loved your dedication in developing a new form of storytelling in your channel. It's neither a literal narration in third perspective of what happened, neither is a literal reading in form of conversation with your public, but now a very good mix of both ways of story telling. I enjoyed that in the previous video and I loved the execution in this one too. Better paced, better narrated, better edited and an actual better composition of the overall.

Also, one more thing: I don't know if it was on purpose or it's something that the community isn't talking much about it, but i find it curious to see how you didn't showed more about Ranni being responsible for the night of the Black Knifes and by consequence being the one responsible for killing Godwyn.
Now I can't remember if this dialogue is still there or is something that my mind is making up (I need to check if the japanese version stays true to that also) by she even confirms it being the responsible for his murder.
Which is something that always bugged my mind when it comes to Ranni's ideals surrounding the Golden Order and the Big Picture of the relationship between Marika and the Golden Order.
Although it would make sense, I always found that to be rather... strange. Not bad written, certainly I can see reasons for her to do that - after all, Godwyn was kind of a symbol within the Royal Family, but rather strange.
And I totally agree with the end of the video: her ending is the closes to a Happy Ending in this game, she now carry a possible opportunity for this world to be in better hands when it comes to the Natural Order of the world.

Theory ahead so spoilers?!!
Your comments about what Ranni's goals seem to be, the removal of the Outer Gods will on the Lands Between, and her clear links to the moon, stars and night sky, have got me thinking.
Fromsoft could have been using different sky boxes to represent the external forces being enacted on the Lands Between. This seems to be backed up by the multiple endings and their different aesthetics (especially the Frenzied Flame and Age of Stars endings).
This leads me to believe that if you go for Ranni's ending, what she reveals to us is the ACTUAL night sky of the Lands Between, unobstructed by the will of the Outer Gods.

I'm nearly through Ranni's questline after doing all of Rogier's quests beforehand and have found that Ranni has more unique dialogue involving it. Her tone with the Tarnished is even *more* cold and bereft of trust just before she departs for Ainsel River Main. It's quite interesting
Wonderful video, I think it should be noted I don't think she just wanted to end her life or anything. She was orchestrating the murder of Godwyn while also trying to escape or run away from the effects of the two fingers. When the ruin of death is used it kills someone entirely in both Body and Soul so in order to kill two birds with one stone so to speak she had Godwin's soul killed while also having her body killed at the same time so that the Rune of death would do its job while not going overboard

Theory:
Ranni can also be looked at as the villain of the story. She was responsible for the death of Godwyn the Golden, which may have drove Marika to destroy the Elden ring over the lost of her child. Godwyn seemed the most beloved of all her children with Godrick and after the shattering war ensued for the shards of the elden ring.
Also don't think she contemplated suicide because she had reached out to Rykard about her plans to get rid of the Golden order. So she killed her body (one half of the death rune) and killed Godwyns soul (the second half of the death rune). To create a weapon to kill the two fingers.
So basically she killed her brother, started a war that killed thousands, so that she could start a new age.
I think Marika has a good deal more agency than that outlook would provide. In one of the churches of Marika her lingering words revealed that she wished her children to make something of themselves, or else serve as little more than sacrifices. Ranni is truly the only one to follow that edict, by turning on the role provided by the fingers and seeking her own path opposed to clinging to remnants of Marika's power. Marika fomented the conditions that lead to all of the strife, in what I believe was a long game to break free from the greater will.
Marika actually has been planning to shatter the Elden Ring for a long time. There's a lot you can learn about her from Melina. Her chats makes it very clear that Marika is the catalyst for most of The Land Between's problems.
The black knives are more connected to Marika than Ranni so Marika herself had a hand in Godwyn's death. Whether she meant for him to be killed or not is up to debate but given her other actions it's very likely she intended for him to die. What's more up for debate is whether Ranni intended for Godwyn to die, personally I say no because it don't really see how it helps her goal.
Now I'm not a fan of the suicidal theory, Ranni makes it pretty clear she wants to be free from the golden order. Killing her Impyrean flesh was part of that goal, but why would she need to kill Godwyn to forge a blade capable of killing her two fingers? how even would killing Godwynn forge a blade capable of killing her two fingers? It's made pretty clear in game that she needs the fingerslayer blade, something which already exists. So why would she bother with Godwyn? Why didn't she actually make the blade? Why did she bother with Godwyn, when Radahn is the one preventing access to the eternal city? Well Radahn holding the stars in place also prevents Ranni from using the fingslayer blade so he needs to die anyway. Why take the extra unnecessary step with Godwyn?
Edit:there's a theory that Ranni had to kill Godwyn's soul in order to only kill her flesh and only her flesh, so there's a plausible reason if you accept that theory (also fixed me saying the three fingers instead of her two fingers.)

Also the game lore also makes it seem like Godwyn was also a really good guy, like a prettier (debatably) Radhan. He was befriending dragons in life and unlifelong friendships in the middle of a race/religious war. The thing is I don’t think Rani killed him cause of jealousy or any real feelings towards him just, and she didn’t just kill him she turned him into that, and it was all just another thing on the plan checklist. It’s such a cold ruthlessness when u really think about it, which added to her just essentially casting Blaidd aside when the plan required makes me wonder how many people were betrayed along the way. I find it very unnerving

Would have done it every time but needed the achievement for all the ending. She is amazing and to me it is the true ending to the game, I hope you see this, this video ment alot to me I'm insainly invested in this game, story and lore, and you somehow had a few things to say about her I haven't found out myself! Also a eji and blaidd video would be amazing.
This was a great video. Your thoughts on ranni and the doll she inhabits are very different than I’ve previously thought. For me it was a way of showing the multiple sides of her character. The easiest for me was the difference of the astral vs physical of it, same with her faces, giving her four arms instead of two. My focus was so engrossed with her personality and demeanor, that her mentor completely escaped my mind.
The dedication to the cosplays and video quality is always appreciated.
Hey just found these videos due to a friend and you put an unbelievable amount of effort into these videos and thank you for it. when you mentioned the marionettes being the form of Ranni's mentor Renna. Another possibility, was Ranni's doll form based on the Marionettes as their found around Rya Lucaria and used as their servants. Selivas maybe using his knowledge of them when crafting her doll form inspiring him to add the 4 arms doesn't seem too far fetched. I'm not saying Ranni's doll form is A marionette rather the similarities aren't a coincidence.

What i do not often see mentioned, is that the "Age of the Stars" was also what the Nox were desperately seeking by attempting creating a "Lord" out of silver tears. Which to me ties nicely the relationship between the Numens, the Nox, the Carian family, Sellia, and Marika the Betrayer.
Also, there are other creatures that have 2 sets of arms: the finger readers crones. Quite the coincidence, eh?

This was a creative and dedicated way to present this! It really helped to immerse in the lore you were presenting. I just finished the Age of Stars ending this weekend, and definitely had questions lol. I'd like to note if you sit at any grace relative to Caelid -- Gur-rock-whatever beast grace, or Caelid balcony grace, where Melina sends you to the Roundtable before talking to Ranni the bell and wolf spirit will be sold by the twin funger maidens of bell bearings and she will not appear by Kale grace site anymore.
I'm a bit late to comment here since it's two years later, but I love the cosplay and hearing about the Elden Ring lore in detail. The age of stars was the first ending I got for the game, and I'm pleased it was. To me, this is the most beneficial ending for all.
The lengths you went on this cosplay is admirable! The muscle strength to hold your right eye closed or if done by some other means is pure Dedication, Well Done! Great Character Storyline Lore as well!!

She would open up the wiki on her computer, and hint me on where to look, and what to do to continue the questlines I was following. And as she did, she would gain a very good understanding of the lore.

By far my favorite questline FS’s ever done for a character. I’ve only beaten the souls games and this so far’s also the happiest ending I’ve seen also.

I believe the doll (Ranni) has 4 arms because it's a redecorated marionette, made to resemble her mentor, and the extra arms are just part of the base marionette design.

While I had a basic understanding of who Ranni was, and what had transpired up to the point in which I'd met her, I wasn't entirely certain of what was being said as I played through who questline. This video helped immensely, though I would have liked to hear more on Blaidd and Iji. That said, wonderful makeup, the dolls cracks were incredibly well done.
It always makes me happy when somebody really _gets_ Ranni. She's not a villain, inflicting an age of massive "fear, doubt, and loneliness" on everybody left alive like some kind of Machiavellian cosmic EMO(//_-).
Her godhood is _restoring those things to their proper place in the world._ The Golden Order and the world stagnated because Marika's messing with the Great Rune of Death was essentially an attempt to rip the black parts out of a Yin-Yang and still have a functioning Yin-Yang, in a context where the symbol has literal effects on what it denotes. Ranni and Goldmask both realized the Golden Order's problem was Marika & Family being too "hands-on" and imposing their own human flaws on reality.
Ranni's solution is that without her physically present as a reigning queen and a magic tree dominating the horizon at all hours, the world has room for real fear, doubt, and loneliness, but that means room for real courage, faith, and companionship. _Starting with the fact she could only accomplish this _*_with_*_ "consort eternal."_
