Hey everyone! Unfortunately, I could not upload this song during christmas time - there was just too much to do. I am very happy and relieved that this video is finally done. My hope is that you can hear the anger/sadness/rage I went through while recording this video. I had to do 13 recordings since all my MIDI programs collapsed constantly, it seems some of them are not made to handle a lot of notes and long songs like this. So I had to search new ones. My lightning broke as well, everything came together. A total of more than 50 hours went into this video. But here it is and I am super happy with it. This has to be the most exhausting cover I have ever written. Constant high dynamics, repeating patterns, octave glissandi, runs in both hands. If you'd like to play it by yourself, check the links in the description :) Let me know your opinion & thanks for all the amazing support you have given me throughout 2020. Yannick
Thank you very much! I performed this once in a concert and most people would not know the song. Would have loved to see their reaction after the intro 😄
...And Justice For All has always been my favourite Metallica album and for my taste there is not a single weak point on that album. That said: This was awesome and one of the piano videos I'm gonna watch (and listen) every now and then. Great job!
@Riftman Hun yes, I totally agree! The enhanced bass versions are super epic. I worked with the original sheet music and included a lot of Jason's basslines within my cover
I was just wondering how and justice for all sounds on piano, than I came across your video. I must say that this is really an excellent work! It love it
Really insane, especially the octave glissandos! So far your greatest masterpiece! A few more embellishments and it might come close to Liszt's symphony transcriptions!
Yannick! You are a fabulous pianist and musician!! I LOVE Metallica and I LOVE your sterling arrangement and masterful, percussive playing!! You have a great ear and very close to the original!! You are extraordinarily dexterous and as others have mentioned, your octave glissando work is fabulous! BRAVO! ~Jackie
@@YannickStreibert yep , really love nothing else matters and hit the lights. Could you maybe do for whom the bell tolls? I think that whould be absolutely amazing!
I played both of them, Nothing else matters from a couple of weeks ago and Hit the Lights in 2017 or 2018 I think. I will do For whom the bell tolls, yes 👍
Great how much effort you put in the harmonics in the end. That is the greatest part of the song and many guitar players underestimate the magic of that part and just play it down, often also missing that there is a "high version" and a "low version" of the both guitars in the harmonics. As a matter of interest: why are you playing whole chords with both hands where each guitar just plays a single note?
Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated! To answer your question: 1) I try to make my Metallica covers quite virtuosic, without losing the sound of the original. Especially this cover was meant to be challenging and exhausting for the pianist. but mostly 2) the sound. The band with 4 individual instruments sounds great together and will compliment each other for a rich sound. But on the piano, just playing one of the guitar lines as they are in the original, will lead to a poor sound, at least in my taste. So I add chords, octaves, etc. This cover is meant to be a transcription for sure, but with extras to make it more a piano piece. And overall, I would feel bored to just copypaste the guitar/bass line with no individual touch. If that helps as an explanation. Thanks again!
Thank you very much, Rafael! Sure, request whatever you like. It's such a beautiful song! I have no idea if I can translate it to the piano though. So many melodies going on. In the first step, I have to work with the original score, so let me see what I can do 😊
I want to learn this so frickin badly but it’s 9 minutes long, and I would have to memorize all of it, although most of it is just repetition so maybe I could do it…
There is a lot of repeating patterns for sure! Do you read sheet music? Or do you use this video for practice? I think the most demanding passage is the guitar solo in the middle.
@@YannickStreibertI don’t know how I never saw you respond but I can read sheet music, can’t sight read though, but for this song I’m learning it using the video and I learn songs by memorizing them, I can’t play while looking at a sheet lol. But yeah I’m just learning the opening of it up to where the vocals come in since it’s too much to do the whole song when I can’t read while playing. Haven’t really gotten to working on it until recently.
Sorry, Andrey, I don't speak Russian, but google translator helped me a bit. Sorry if you didn't like the video. I guess Metallica piano covers are not meant for everyone :)

I like how it sounds classical at the beginning.
I will perform it once I play a next concert. I think it can be a shock for people who don't know it lol
That intro sounds beautiful on piano, gives it a whole other vibe

I can not guarantee perfection, but the synchronisation should actually be fine 🤔

No, man, you're delucional.
Well, it takes one to know one
is it weird I'm replying only to myself?
Yes
мертво сыгранно( просто по нотам...надо было послушать мелодию-выучить ее и потом уже переносить на клавиши, расставляя акценты.. а так-просто шум
