Little music theory tip: what you did with the Dm chord to the D#M chord is called, in a general sense, a modulation, by modulating up a half step you can either create a vehicle for tension or release, a good tool for writing chord progressions in general. A good rule for Modulation is(at least when writing sheet music) have a good idea of WHY you are modulating and in what direction around the Circle of Fifths, it will help create the sound you want :)
Just in case anyone was wondering the reason the minor chord to the major chord thing works is because its the 3rd chord of the major scale going to the 4th chord, so this track would actually be in Bb major. So if you had the chords C# minor and D major You could write leads is a major and it would sound great.
