a pretty popular YT channel reacting to VFX scenes said that some rendering scenes takes 10 hours for a frame depending on the physics involved. todays VFX studios can be lucky to have so many tools available, but they invent new presets and codes daily to be even better. imagine the need to create the code from scratch like they did in Terminator 2. the liquid metal code wasnt invented at the time. its amazing what people can do if they have the talent, skill and time ( time = money) to create something awesome.
