SPACEBALLS is hilariously stupid - Кино
This movie is equally stupid, hilarious, moronic, amazing, idiotic, hysterical, and glorious all at the same time! Thanks for telling me about this one, guys!
Mel Brooks, for the win.
You gotta check out ballad of Buster Scruggs or planes trains and automobiles
Please watch the how to train your dragon tv series
This movie is amazing definitely before my time but I watched it when I was In the ICU at the ER 5-6 years ago, my mom forced me to watch it because I'm a HUGE starwars fan and she was so mad I had never seen spaceballs, So glad you were able to react to this one, brings me fond memories.
You really missed the best line of the movie… “I see your swartch is as big as mine”
I don't think you'd survive "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (1975). But you're welcome to try.
We need that. What a perfect combo
Tis but a scratch
100% such a funny movie!
Shrubbery 😂 🪴
a DUCK.
Not only did Lucas endorse this movie, he let them use ILM (the VFX studio he founded) to do the VFX for it which is why the production value is so high. His only condition was that they couldn’t sell any products related to the film, hence the merchandising gag.
And Lonestar wasn’t allowed to resemble Luke Skywalker, so Mel Brooks gave him the Indiana Jones look 😂
@@pixel-spielkind8237wasn't allowed to look like Han Solo.
Wasn't ILM gutted by that point for Boss films?
@@pixel-spielkind8237 Han Solo, but yeah.
The effects are nowhere near ILM quality....
Fun fact: the doll scene was 100% improvised by Rick Moranis. The director looked at him and said something along the lines of "here, take these and do something funny"
Any actor can strike gold when reading off a piece of paper. But only the great actors can strike gold by their own volition.
“I’m a Mawg. Half man, half dog. I’m my own best friend.” RIP John Candy
George was all for this movie. He only said that Lonestar can’t look like Han. So instead he looks like Indiana Jones since Harrison Ford played both characters
Brooks is a masterful troll.
Wrong. Lucas stipulated that Lonestar could not be dressed like LUKE, so Mel Brooks dressed him like Han.
@@smalltowngirl1433, seriously? Look at him. He's dressed like Indiana Jones.
@@matthewkreps3352 yes, seriously. Mel Brooks himself said so in an interview about the movie. Look it up.
Yeah George worked with Mel to dance around the various IP because in the end it was a mutually beneficial project..
Hey guys! Editor here, hope you enjoyed the reaction! I realized that I might went a little overboard on the editors notes for this one so sorry about that! Alex and the movie just gave me a lot to work with on this one 😂
Anyways, hope you like the video and I’ll see you in the next one, much love!
Nah keep em coming lol
Your editing style is one of the things that keeps us coming back. You n Alex have a great chemistry.
When is the next Clone Wars video coming? 👀
Nah, your edits are perfect and for this movie absolutely necessary! 🤛😎👍
You did just fine!
"Funny, she doesn't look Druish." is one of the funniest lines in the history of cinema.
Sorry if it's a stupid question but english isn't my mothertongue.. I never understood this joke while watching. I just know people laugh about it and I have no idea what "Druish" in this case is supposed to be or what the joke is about. Thanks in advance.
@anunnacy Jewish. Druish.
There exists a phrase and concept known as "Jewish princess", and, b/c it's a silly space world, she's a Druish princess.
*rimshit* baddum-tiss
This film shaped my humor a lot and it shows 😂
Also “keep firing Assholes” lives rent free in my head and sometimes I just say it whenever I’m with friends who are about to do stupid and unorganized.
The Lea headphones was the moment I knew I loved this movie ❤
Leia!
When played for network telvision, the asshole line is edited to Morons. It still works.
The whole Asshole bit was the first one from the movie that I had memorized. I was 9 when I did.
So many people ask "Why did they even put a reverse function on it to begin with?" and it boggles my mind every time I hear someone ask that. They are stealing the air because their planet is running out of air... they would need a way to get it back out when they get back to their planet lol.
And I like how even that detail brings out the comedic idiocracy. Because a bunch of snow, dust, and trees would go back on Spaceball City lol
My only possible explanation is that they would have to "Reverse" it to put the air onto Planet Spaceball, but its a pretty weak explanation.
@@highrofellos6721 It's not a weak explanation. It's literally what I said too lol. It's the only logical reasoning. If you're stealing the air with a vacuum, you need a way to get the air back out again when you're ready to use it lol. All Lonestar did was give the vacuum a case of premature... ejection lol.
@@little-wytch I say it's weak because how are they going to transform back into the ship for traveling??
@@highrofellos6721 Well, I mean... we're talking about Spaceballs... from planet Spaceball... do you really think they thought that far ahead? Just thinking to put the reverse function on there at all must have taken their entire collective brain cell lol. Who knows, maybe they thought Mega Maid would be able to walk back to planet Spaceball lol.
The guy with the sound effects was Michael Winslow, aka the Man with 10,000 sound effects and is in all of the Police Academy movies + tv series.
Ooh, Alex should react to Police Academy- the first 2 at least, after that it gets iffy.
@jenisedai have to watch up to 3. Have to watch bobcat becoming an officer

John Hurt essentially recreated the scene of Alien bursting out of his stomach from Alien.,That's why he said "not again!"
I love how most of the best jokes in the movie went over Alex’s head. Lol
Yeah or he was laughing at something else and he missed them.
Mel Brooks is a mastermind of comedic spoofs. Please watch more of his work!
Just imagine Alex watching "Blazing Saddles" or "Young Frankenstein" this October.
@@supernerd8067 dont forget men in tights and history of the world!

Mel Brooks and Keenan Ivory Wayans are the kings of parody.
Petition for Alex to watch every Mel Brooks film. With apologies to Aaron.
Seconded
Including the bad films?
Where the white women at?
YYYYEEEEESSSSSSS!!!
(Looks around)…Blücher!
4:30 "Gail's" name is Dot Matrix which was a common type of printer at the time. She's voiced by Joan Rivers who was a big comedian that most younger people know from doing interviews on the red carpet with her daughter Melissa
The guy who said, "We ain't found shit!" is Tim Russ. He was CDR Tuvok in Star Trek Voyager.
That's my mom's favorite line. 😅
He also does a great job of explaining Star Wars for the newbies. ruclips.net/video/M_ZRsf9sneQ/видео.html
He still finds it funny that more people tend to recognize him from "4 words in Spaceballs than 7 years on Voyager"
That is hysterical! Never knew
He also was one of the bad guys in the TNG episode where the Enterprise is undergoing that baryon sweep.
Rambo is an awesome movie. The first one is not only an action movie, but explores PTSD, survivor's guilt, and how America treated returning Vietnam vets, among other things. It is a HEARTBREAKING film. The other Rambo movies pretty much go all-in on the action movie trope, but Rambo (actually called "First Blood") is a masterpiece. You should ABSOLUTELY watch it.
I second this recommendation. First Blood is great.
And if you want to see a movie about PTSD from the Vietnam war, The Deer Hunter is excellent
unfortunate they haven't made a good one since
Each subsequent Rambo sequel does go heavy on the action but they all still posed some sort of commentary on war.
Rambo II was about the lost Vietnam POWs
Rambo III was about the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan.
Rambo (2008) was about the Myanmar/Burmese conflict that was going on during the mid 2000's.
Rambo: Last Blood touched on subjects of the Mexican Cartels.
Rambo (4) was second best in the series IMO.
The long ship gag always gets me, its like the part in the holy grail where john cleese is just running and running and running and running while the guards stand there gawking smacking their lips 😂
One of my fav scene ever 😂
I love that Alex seemed to not get it as a joke even though he always pointed out the long ship shots in the actual Star Wars films lol
Best part is that the Monty Python crew was using that gag as a way to save money by just using the same shot repeatedly.
That scene never gets old
I love how every single one of y'all didn't notice that it's a reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey and its very long shot of the Discovery One
Spaceballs and Independence Day, is the reason I call Bill Pullman...President Lonestar.
It’s not a flying squirrel, it’s a sugar glider. You’re welcome Alex, from Australia.
Spaceballs! The RUclips Commemtary!
The radar guy was a near legendary vocal comedian, Michael Winslow, who could do really cool sound effects just with voice. His other notable movie roles were in the "Police Academy" series.
I seem to recall George Lucas only allowed the licencing for this movie if there was no merch. Also, Lonestar could not look like Luke or Han. Mel Brooks put the merchandising joke in, and if you look at him right, Lonestar actually looks like Indiana Jones.
The first Rambo movie is actually a very gritty story about a Vietnam vet who wanders into a little country town and is unfairly targeted by the local sheriff. The following movies were more cheesy 80s action movies.
Spaceballs: the youtube comment reply.
The kids love this one!
Mel was told he couldn't make Lone Star look like Han solo, so he made him look like Indiana jones
Which is also why he named him Lonestar. Lone being just another way of saying solo.
Fun Fact: The Spaceball combing the desert with the pick, "We ain't found sh*t," went on to star in another beloved sci-fi franchise. He played Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager!
I thought that that was Michael Winslow
@@roryschweinfurter4111 he was the radar technician.
I really want them to say Spaceballs 2 is coming out, make a trailer, promote it, release a full merch line, and then just never release it.
There's no way they could get away with releasing an Actual Spaceballs 2 these days......A few of Mel Brook's movies could never be made today.....and was difficult to get made even then.
@@Amiko-do4dj Which is why we do Spaceballs 3: Milking this for all it's Worth!
Well you did ask what George Lucas thought about this movie: Mel Brooks asked him permission to make this, Lucas agreed as long as they didn't try to sell any Spaceballs merchandise from the movie. That's why they put in the merchandising jokes
That Alien guy was the same actor as in the original Alien movie. (That is why he said "Oh no, not again")
Also, have you seen the license plate on the Princess's car? (SPOIL'D ROTT'N 1)
That prince was yawning all the name because of his name, Prince VALIUM.
And many other things that you missed.
John Hurt, aka ollivander in Harry Potter
"We all know Prince Valium is a PILL"

I loved the Ape saying, "Shit! There goes the Planet." 😂
So far I've only seen one reactor get the Valium jokes.
@@sonicking2004 Oddly enough one of the apes, which I think is that one that says that line is played by Michael York. He also played Basil Exposition from the Austin Powers movies.
4:20 The _look_ on Alex's face when Dot Matrix came on screen was so infectious I grinned and laughed aloud! So adorable!
I think we actually need Alex to watch some John Candy movies
70s and 80s comedies were something special.
It was truly a golden age.
You're not wrong.
The nurse that gives “Great Helmet” is the same actress that was Denise Richard’s Captain in Starship Troopers. She also has a memorable reoccurring role on Seinfeld.
She also guest-starred a year later (1988) on ST:TNG.
At a comic con I went to a few years back I bought a poster of Dark Helmet with the line "Evil will always triumph because good is dumb".
Tesla named their performance levels on the original Model S from this movie - Ludicrous mode went 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, and Plaid mode went 0-60 in 1.9 seconds.
They also sold a Tesla flamethrower
The scene with Pizza the Hut could only be filmed once. The interior of the costume was practically an oven. Think about it, that was real melted cheese, sauce, bread and pepperoni. The actor had to be pulled out due to heat exhaustion (if not heat stroke). Afterwards, the actor received medical advice not to get in the costume again and then he refused to do so once he was back on set. No other actors would get in the costume after they saw what happened to the original actor, so they had to use what film they managed to get on the first and only recording.
The actor inside the costume, was Dom DeLuise! (I know, impossible to tell from the outside). Not a mere mortal, but a super being with powers far beyond those of mortal men - Captain Chaos from "The Cannonball Run" (1981).
Also, Vinny's "You're delicious boss" line was added to get Pizza Hut to sign off on using their company name.
"What the hell is that? And why does my brain know that?" That's The Colonel Bogey March, made famous by its use in the movie The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) starring Alec Guinness, who later went on to play Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original Star Wars trilogy. The march has since been used in many other places, and is one of those pieces of music that everyone knows although many probably have no idea where they know it from.
I know it from
"Lisa, her teeth are green!
Lisa, she smells like gasoline....."

Classic summer camp cadence.
Comet. It makes your mouth turn green.
Comet. It tastes like Listerine.
Comet. It makes you vomit.
So eat some Comet, and vomit, today!
Nah, the WWII British lyrics are best "Hitler has only got one ball.....the other is in the Albert Hall"
@@PreceptorGrant The one I know most closely related to that one (that I learned from an Englishman I know) goes like this:
Hitler has only got one ball
Hitler has only got one ball
Himmler has something similar
And poor old Goebbels has no balls at all
Edit: Interestingly, there's an entire Wikipedia page dedicated to the WWII versions, which feature variations of both: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitler_Has_Only_Got_One_Ball
@@Wishbone1977 Intersting read. Given that I learned the version I know on the school playground in the late 70s or early 80s, it had mutated a bit from the original by then. I definitely think it's more of an oral composition folk song rather than ever being properly written.
Haven’t seen this movie in years but both the combing the desert thing and Princess Vespa taking off her hair/headphones live rent free in my head.
Also, do Americans not know what Vespas are? It’s so common to see them driving around in Europe, I never even considered they wouldn’t be known over there.

Tim Russ actually did a short video where he's standing behind a small rock garden with a hair pick moving it around in the rock Garden, it's hilarious.

Honestly this was kind of your personal Event Horizon, Alex. From the moment you watched Star Wars, your life entered a point of no return where it became your destiny to watch SPACEBALLS as well.
ya gotta go back to Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein to truly *get* Mel Brooks
...and producers and robin hood men in tights and the other ones I havent seen
The guy in the diner with the chest buster was played by John Hurt, the same guy from Alien. And if you haven't seen Aliens yet you are missing out on one of the best action movies. Watch the extended version.
The reason that the escape pod scenes looked so much like actual Star Wars footage is that parts of that scene actually was unused Star Wars footage that Mel Brooks was allowed to make use of.
The innuendos in this are about to hit levels not seen before on this channel... I fear for Aarons safety editing it.
At their best, Mel Brooks's comedies are the perfect kind of stupid fun. I highly recommend some of his other spoofs: "Robin Hood: Men in Tights", "Dracula: Dead and Loving It" and "Blazing Saddles" :)

You need to watch Star Trek: Voyager. That guy (Tim Russ) is in it as Lieutenant Commander Tuvok.
I was looking specifically for this and if no one said it, I was going to lmfao. I loved voyager
That radar scene was a cameo of Michael Winslow. He was also in _Police Academy_
He bills himself as “The Man Of 10,000 Sound Effects”, as every single sound effect-the radar pings, the static, the PA page, to describing “The Sweeps, the Bleeps and the Creeps” is made with his own mouth.
He’s got some old standup that’s hysterical, specifically the one about him renting a truck.
You forget Michael Winslow's most notable uncredited role......he Voiced Spike from 'Gremlins'....
Rick Moranis completely ad-libbed the scene with Dark Helmet playing with dolls.
You mention that Lonestarr looks like knockoff Indiana Jones. George Lucas helped Mel Brooks a bunch on the production of this movie, and he asked that the hero not look like Harrison Ford's character Han Solo. So Mel Brooks made him look like Harrison Ford's character Indiana Jones (another George Lucas movie) instead.
The opening scene with the loooooooong ship reveal is a poke at Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey which had sequences just like this, unironically :P
Prince Valium is a joke on what wives in the 80's used to do when they were tired of dealing with their husbands, they'd "go sleep with Prince Valium" (Valium being a sedative drug "We all know Prince Valium's a pill!" says Dot)
Also he dresses like Prince Valiant. :D
There were also various long shots of star destroyers in Star Wars that it played on, but 2001 was definitely a good bit. The Nostromo from 'Alien' as well.
"Light the candles and spin the dreidel, 'cause she's a Dru!" 🤣💀

It's called, Colonel Bogey's March. It was originally composed in 1914 by the British army. It was used in the movie, The Bridge On The River Kwai.
Its also very prominently used in media from many old looney tunes and old disney cartoons. It got embedded into the memory of many millenials and gen x-ers without knowing anything about it
During WWII (and ever since) it was often sung by us Brits to a set of lyrics beginning with "Hitler has only got one ball.....the other is in the Albert Hall"
John Hurt, who plays the guy with the chestburster in the diner, is the also the actor who played Kane in Alien. That's why he says "not again".
Fun fact: brooks said he’d have made the entire movie just the ship passing by if he could’ve gotten away with it
9:45 "this is stupid but i kinda love it" i think we found this channels catch phrase!
"Harry started feeling around the trees, and he said 'I know we're on pluto"?... Harry how can you tell?? "From the Bark!.. (pluto... as in the Disney dog)
This was the throwback reaction I didn’t know I needed. I haven’t thought about this movie in nearly decades, but could still quote it right alongside ya. Hell yeah
When they are walking up to the statue of Yogurt is also a reference to the in " The Wizard of Oz" when they've walking up to see the Wizard. The dinks that rescue them in the desert is a reference to " Snow White and the Seven Dwarves " and " Star Wars ". Valium is a medicine that can knock you out. Hence Prince Valium is always starting to fall asleep. The man with the alien coming out of him is John Hurt. The same thing happened to him in "Alien". That's why he said " Oh no. Not you again ". The head of megamaid and apes seeing it is a reference to " The Planet of The Apes " first movie. Great that you saw the Millennium Falcon at the restaurant. Most people don't see it until someone tells them.
Love Rick Moranis! Would recommend checking out 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' (1989) and its sequel 'Honey, I Blew Up the Kid' (1992). They'd make for really fun reactions. 🧡
Ghostbusters!!!
Strange Brew is an old favorite.
7:44 The Doublemint Twins! They were iconic in the '80s!
He missed out on Winslow too...sadness
Fun fact: one of the conditions this movie was made on was that they weren't allowed to produce any merchandise for it because they didn't want Spaceballs merch to compete with merch from the movies it was parodying. So, thus was born the merchandising scene in the movie. A bunch of stuff you can't actually get. And darn, I really wanted that Spaceballs: The Flame Thrower too. I'd have loved that as a kid! 😆
I will never blame Rick Moranis for leaving the movie industry to be with his family. He gave us so many amazing memories.
The "playing with your dolls again" scene? ALL IMPROVISED.
After all the remarks you have said in all the other reaction videos, hearing you say this is stupid is the most ironic thing ever, Love it!

One of my absolute favorite Mel Brooks films. That man is one of the greatest comedic directors ever in my opinion. There was nothing off limits to him and he made fun of everything and everyone. Love him and his movies
Fun fact. George Lukas loved this movie, he okayed the Millennium Falcon cameo (well spotted by the way, most people miss it). The merchandising company for Star Wars on the other hand, played hard ball. This movie was only allowed if they agreed to do *no merchandising of any kind.* That caused 2 changed to this movie, the merchandising scene and the name of the 'force' knockoff. See, the *Schwartz* company did the merchandising for Star Wars. So the 'greatest power in the universe' was Schwartz merchandising.
YOU NEED TO WATCH THE FIRST RAMBO MOVIE.
It's a real Masterpiece. I cried at the end of it.
"FIRST BLOOD", the first movie of the Rambo-series is a real classic, a fantastic action-movie that's in no way cheesy and has some serious topics. An absolute "Must See"!
"RAMBO - FIRST BLOOD II" is perhaps the ultimate 80s action-movie (although a little bit cheesy). I also recommend this.
"RAMBO III" - nah, it's just too much.
"RAMBO" (the fourth one), is also a good actionfilm - and very bloody!
"RAMBO: LAST BLOOD" had some mixed reviews, but I liked it anyway. Very dark, very brutal and a great finale. Also recommended.
If you read the book you were shocked there were any more movies after the first.
So now he had to work his way through the Mel Brooks library, right? Men in Tights, Blazing Saddles...
“ i am your father’s brothers uncles cousin’s former roommate” I loveee that😂😂😂
And how all the guys are cross eyed
This is one of my favorite movies, I’ve been watching this since I was like 3 years old! I still quote this movie all the time. This is one of the best parody movies of all time. The scene where Darth Helmet is playing with the dolls and the scene where they shoot the princess’ hair and she mows them all down have always been my favorite 😂
Jawa song is from the film "Bridge on the River Kwai". Which starred Alec Guinness. Who played Obi Wan in the original Star Wars.
Mel Brookes didn't want to dress Lone Starr like Hans Solo so he dressed him like Indiana Jones 😂
14:48 Everyone thinks Deadpool did it first but Ryan Reynolds was a kid of the 80’s. This is peak classic humor to us!

Interesting tidbit for Pizza the Hutt. The actor (Dom Deluise) got second and third degree burns from the "melting cheese" and the effects worker refused so hard to do any reshoots he quit when Mel suggested it.
