Stanley needs to make a James Bender series of cookware!! Been binge watching all your "hacks" and I must say, you, sir, are a genius with these Stanley cookers!! Who knew there was so many things you could do with these things! 😁
I’m currently making all these hacks as we speak, 3 years late I suppose, but I noticed that the 3 inch strainer with the handle (not the sink strainer but the other one you showed) actually fits without trimming it at all. Well after you take off the handles of course. Only thing is you have to slide it under the handle rivets on the inside of the stainless cup first and then it’ll set it place nicely without any grinding or cutting. You can use the same leader through the holes in the mesh just like you did, it’s just takes a little more finagling pulling it out as it is a snug fit so you have to be careful not to let your “basket” flip and dump out. Also I liked one of the other comments about the tuna can in the bottom seems like another good way to do it also! Thanks for all the hacks James!
I love you dude. Im just sad i haven't found you sooner. I've been binge watching you the past two days. I love your original ideas on things instead of the same old regurgitated things from the rest of the herd. Thank you sir.
Thats clever! You have some awesome creative ways to just add an extra layer to all this. I also notice you always take a brief moment before you eat, i respect that! Keep on keepin on I cant get enough of the content amazing! God bless.
I'm in!! Also, this would be perfect for dehydrated chili beans, and place the small chunks of dehydrated "Jiffy" cornbread chunks to re-hydrate, without becoming soggy, as long as you monitor the situation. Thanks, James!
I am recovering from open hart surgery, a lot of time on my hands and the rabbet hole hole helps me. You vids and knowledge are a God send. I own two Stanley setups and they will be improved because of you. I so look forward to getting back to the woods soon. My experience will be more exciting and comfortable thanks to you. God Bless Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Great New Year. It Is good to be alive!
I made a steamer for my stanley cook set with materials i got from the dollar store. I bought a stainless steel sink stopper then pulled all the plastic parts out of it. Then I purchased their machine screw kit with machine screws and nuts. I placed 3 screws through the existing holes and then double nutted them. It fits perfectly in the bottom of the cook set. A better hack would be using stainless steel machine screws and nuts so they don't rust. Gives you lots of room for steaming veggies. One of my favorites is steaming stinging nettles with a little salt and pepper and apple cider vinegar. Hope you like it. I discovered your channel tonight and have subscribed and binge watched a bunch of videos. Great job!
I'M IN. I'm glad that you're here to show these hacks, because I just can't come close to making a hack for anything lol. But it's kind of funny, I just found a stainless steel strainer, with no handles on it: I'm not even sure it's a strainer! Thanks for another great video, stay safe out there and God bless!
Great detail in contacting JB Weld to make sure their product is food safe. A 20 pound leader would be considered over engineering but that in itself is a lost art.
$1.25 tree strainers don't need to be ground down. I didn't do any cutting at all to mine, just folded the ears down, folded the handle up and bent it over the rim of the Stanley cook cup. It fits perfectly, I don't need a bail, and should steam well. The only thing I don't really like is that the lid doesn't sit perfectly flat but that's ok for me.
I'm in! These Stanley hacks are so cool!!! This multifunctionality is exactly what I'm looking for! Now I really want to get a Stanley! Really cool stuff you got on the channel! Simple and straight to the point I love it!
I'm in! I'm loving the hacks. I've seen lots of hacks for this kit, but it seems that the other channels have one idea then don't really use the kit. But why not use it if I can bake, steam and boil in it. Just outstanding!
This is truly innovative, but one I'll have to sleep on, before deciding whither to add it to my arsenal. Please keep doing what you're doing, awesome content.
@@WayPointSurvival I was aware that the contest was already over however I still appreciated the content and wanted to take part by saying the phrase. 😀
I’m in. Hope I’m not too late. These are some really good hacks. I always just used a scotchbrite pad to fill the gap between the cook pot and the cup.👍
That was a SWEET hack! I personally don't have any of the tools or skills to do that hack. But it's got thinking about a workaround for it. Your designs a perfect, sets the standards pretty high but I'll give it a go anyways. I really like the idea of steaming small amounts of foods. Crazy Good! ♥️ It.
@@WayPointSurvival Will do. It might be a few days or so. I'm still recovering from a recent hospital stay -- but I'll think of something to put together before my next fishing trip 👍. Steamed fish in the Stanley -- I've got this! 🙌.
I just joined your channel and having a Stanley two cup cook set myself, I really appreciate the hacks you have demonstrated and looking forward to more. All the best and God bless from Australia.
I like that idea, steamed carrots and broccoli with a little salt. Since I have three of the Stanley Cook Sets I'm gonna pass on it so someone else can have one. I gave one away at a meet up a couple years ago, it's one piece of gear well worth the $15. Thanks for sharing.
I'm in. Subscribed after your first Stanley hack and have been binge watching all your past videos ever since. Great content. Can't believe I didn't discover the channel sooner!
I’m in ! Great video again. When you finish with all the jacks. Could you do a recap video showing the complete kit and list links where to buy all the add one ?
Bought the two cup ,adventure pot last wk at Wall-e world, went back three days later to pick up the ozark cup, all the Stanley 2cups were sold out ( 7-9), these things are the range ! Got an utensil stand to make a quick stove.
"I'm in" I could use another one of these amazing lil sets... I hope I'm not too late lol. I watched so many videos about this set before I actually bought one. But if I hadn't bought one already, your tip videos would've been the reason I bought one. Congrats on reaching 10 brother
I discovered an alternative way to make a 2 cup steamer that I thought you'd appreciate! If you use a can opener that opens via the seam (as opposed to punching through the lid), you can use a tuna can as a steamer. - open the tuna can, and drill (or punch) a dozen or so small holes in the lid (and press the lid flat if you end up with burrs from drilling or punching). - fill the empty tuna can with a small amount of water. - put the perforated lid on. With the seam opener, it'll pop right on and sit on top of the can instead of sinking into it. - set the water-filled tuna can in the bottom of the cook set. - fill rest of chamber with desired amount of veggies. - close with 2-cup cook lid and steam away No only do you end up with a much larger steaming chamber, but nearly no room lost in the cook set when it's disassembled. First, set the perforated lid at the very bottom of the cookset chamber then the empty tuna can on top of it. The tuna can nests perfectly with the bottom of the default plastic cup! Thank you so much for the channel and all the work you put into it, James. So many other bushcraft/diy campers just point you to shopping lists with gear I can't really afford. You've shown me it's far more affordable (and) fun to creatively solve gear needs using my brain and commonplace items laying around. God Bless!
I’m in. These hacks are really inventive. Thanks for the thought you have put into these modifications! (note, I am a US resident, the account name is somewhat of an anonymizer)
