This is an excellent stove that was purpose built for the Stanley Two Cup Cook Set. It is made of durable 304 Stainless Steel and has several options available for upgrades if you wish. At only $29.95 it's an affordable option for your outdoor adventures. Thank you for watching and please leave me a comment in the section below!
So all kitted out with the additional pieces, elevated speed plate burn/ash plate storage tin better stuff sack, about $27 it still under $60 even less if you're crafty about it 🤔😃🤣🤣
I really like it but with all the stanley cup enthusiasts out there I'd love to know why stanley hasn't made a 2.0. That way it could work with most all stoves without going out of our way to make it work. Just get of the taper, put slits in the lid, drill for a bale, and put a better lid handle. Have had mine for around 8 yrs but would gladly buy one with these added features.
@@TNBushcrafter I know what you mean. Still, I have come up with some neat ideas for the set using those features. Hopefully you'll check out my other hack videos.

I bought mine last year and bought the Stanley Adventure cook set on an eBay bargain buy. I probably own one of the few Simple Theory Pack Stoves in the UK which truly is an amazing bit of kit. Stanley also do the Adventure coffee system as well.
I actually keep a running list of videos that I want to make. Every time I see or think of something to share either new or something that I've done for years, I add it to my list. Thanks for watching and God bless you too!
James!! Thank you so much for the amazingly thorough and thoughtful review. You truly showcased the stove perfectly and hit on all the key points. Just amazing! Also, I am excited to tell you that we ordered a new prototype last week that incorporates your insight on both a larger diameter for more versatility and carry options and a slightly different base for more storage security. In all, I truly cannot say just how invaluable your feedback and support has been. Warmest Regards and Deepest Appreciation- Mac
Thanks for the opportunity to demonstrate your product. It is a great stove with a lot of market potential. Glad you liked the review and excited to see the upgrades!
This a great little stove. I use mine with wood and carry it in a kit that fits in a 1 liter bottle bag with my fire starters and utensils in a side pouch. I bought mine some time ago at a higher price but it's worth it. Highly recommend it.
WayPoint Survival thanks James, I appreciate that brother! You are correct about getting in front of the camera more to ease the nervousness. Thanks again.
Great addition to your ever better Stanley kit . Loved the bloopers . BTW . I got another of your SS bottles yesterday . Looks like the same great quality . Stay safe gubs .
Nice stove , liked the way it all came together. The tin was a little lose but that’s a Quick fix . I’ll give it a 👍 Thanks again for the video, have a good week.
It's 2022 and as a new subscriber, naturally I've been watching a lot of your videos. Of course it didn't take long to find out that the stove was no longer available. I did find their farewell post on Instagram. If I had known then, I would have loved to talk to them about picking up where they left off. Seemed like a cool little stove.
Thanks for watching the channel! We do have permission to bring the stove back to the market under our own branding and we hope to have that for sale later on this year. Stay tuned to the channel for further updates.
Another great video--thanks! I've also used a version of an IKEA hobo stove with my Stanley Adventure cook kit. The IKEA hobo stove is not a snug fit, but it is extremely versatile (can be multi-fuel) and is very inexpensive (< $5). With your ingenuity and creativity, you could take it to the next level....
@@thomasmusso1147 It gets even better. Mark Young shows on his channel a hobo stove that is a great fit for the Stanley Adventure cook kit. That's really great, I've been looking at stoves that would burn solid fuel: that stove exceeds my expectations by a lot, for a great price. Thanks for the video. Stay safe out there and God bless!
I just came upon this video and just recently started following your channel. Great information and great content. I’m sorry that Simple Theory Gear went out of business. It is a great stove. Time to put something together in my shop.
Thanks for the recommendations of both 1.) the Stanley Two Cup Cook Set and 2.) the Standard Pack Stove by Simple Theory Gear. I'd been eyeing that Stanley Cook Set for literally a few years, and when I watched your videos on all of your hacks, I was finally nudged over to buy it. The stove by STG is perfectly paired for the Stanley Cook Set! (It shipped quickly, too!) I'd also been wanting to buy the Pathfinder combo of canteen/nesting cup/nesting stove, but they were always out-of-stock. The new stove and cook set pair are also similar in combined height and dimension to my Nalgene Stainless Steel canteen, so I can also pack another GSI cup on that if I needed one. Great additions to my bag! Thanks again and take care.
Good job James the stove looks very good and the kit in a bag looks really good and would be a great addition for any day pack Bug out bag etc. Bloopers were funny too take care and God bless!
Great video! I’ve been binge watching this dearies and loving all of it. Update on the cook set. 18 May 2021: Cook set is now $39.99 but comes standard with the elevated plate and cotton stuff bag. Ash Pan is $4.75. I cold not find the upgraded bag.
looks like a good stove and the price is right... I think I'd add an 8 or 9 inch Aluminum pie or cake pan for ash containment... 3 fuel? I think you could add charcoal for a fourth fuel good tip great video
The pie plate idea is an absolutely fantastic idea!!! Before we added our ash plates, I advocated using a aluminum foil for grilling. It has a slightly thicker gauge and lasts a bit longer. The pie plate, however, is a much better option over that. Also, per your other idea, you can indeed use charcoal. Also Sterno, wood pellets, and the stove is designed to be used as a pot stand inside a campfire, as well. Please let us know if you have any questions. Regards.
the classic fancee feest alcohol stove is great for the stanley. You need a windscreen regardless. hiran cook did quite a few videos on this combination.
Not taking the time to look but you seem to forget the butane stove that will fit in place if the alcohol stove. The smaller tank fits right in bottom in place of the cup which I never used anyway
I wonder if this setup would nest inside the Stanley Boil and Brew Cup with an additional lid for it minus the French press insert. That would give you an additional large size GSI-style cup. There are other RUclipsrs that have found lids for this brew cup. It would certainly be cool if Simple Theory Gear designed a slightly larger stove and sold it with or allowed it to store a GSI cup and then the Stanley Cookset inside.
What about the Ozarks cup? :( It is a handy stove set-up, I'm just not sure I'd trade it for the cup at this point in time. I have an Altoids tin stove that packs super small that I made. It doesn't fit inside my Stanley setup either, but I'm still able to keep it in my cooking bag. I've been binge watching all the hacks, and will get started on them next weekend when I'm off. When I'm done, I don't know if I'll still have room at the top end of my kit to put my Altoids tin, but I'll find out. Thanks for all the tips and tricks you've shared!
Indeed. However, due to several problems including funding, it is no longer for sale right now. But the owners are trying to figure out how to get it going again.
Be safe when lighting any alcohol stove. Your method with the Trangia I would not suggest to anyone for safety's sake. If you have to light it in a confined space then use a Ferro ( Ferrocerium ) Rod. The sparks from it will light the alcohol in the stove every time , anyway it does for me. One problem with the kit is when using the Trangia you can't use the simmering ring which is a handy item.
Just ordered. It seems the elevated speed plate is not available. Is it any different than the regular one with the tabs bent up? I think it’s time for a WPS branded cook kit, or at least a carrying bag!
Hello! We greatly apologize for the inconvenience caused by the unavailability. We did just add a few more “elevated speed plates” to the website, but sadly still a limited number. Per your question, and as you have noted, the elevated plate is the normal “speed plate” with the tabs pressed upwards by our manufacturer. The user can do this themselves, but with a slight word of caution as the metal ring may bend slightly bas a result. This of course can be flattened out, however, we just want everyone to know the slight risk. Please let us know if you should have any other questions. Be well!
Waypoint survival: about using that steel plate underneath supposedly to catch ash: That’s a problem. It wouldn’t take much of a breeze to blow hot ash all over the place. It is simply not the safety feature that they would have you believe, and in fact if people are relying on that in windy area, they’re likely to end up with huge problems due to hot ash blowing around. That absolutely has to be addressed. The company could line the vents with mesh around the inside of the bottom, or you could stick it inside of it cut-off can or pan that’s a little bigger in diameter and the stove unit itself, although there are other options. That would catch ash without interfering with the airflow. But they’re pretty smart about it. They don’t want to pay somebody to actually do any engineering, and they know that you want to get involved with the company to make a few dollars, so they send you a cheap $30 kit with its flaws, and you feel obligated to say nice things about it; your viewers will tell them exactly what’s wrong with it without them having to pay a cent. I think we both know that there are problems with this, and I’m surprised you didn’t call them on it. Because this is about big safety problems, i’ll be complicit with this one. I really love everything that you’re doing on your own here, But there are more problems with this particular stove unit that you would have thought through if you made one, that they did not. Here’s another example of that: I live and camp in areas that tend to be quite windy year-round. This cooker, like so many systems, it’s very tall. The way you’ve been using it up to now hasn’t presented a problem. But perched up on a cooker, there’s vulnerability in windy areas, particularly when using a cooker with a rounded-edged bottom. I can’t help but think that it might be worthwhile for anybody using a set up like yours, which does look to be a very good set up, to cut a couple of pieces of steel and fit them together to give a broader base underneath the set up; which pieces would slide apart at the end of operations when they’re cooled off, and slide in between the cosy and the cup, exactly the same way as the spoon does. Or possibly a mesh sleeve to hold the cooker onto the stove to render it more stable and less prone to be blown over. Nobody needs their food, boiling water, or a stove with ignited fuel in it blown over in high winds. It’s just not safe. Another issue I have here is that it’s unclear about what comes with the unit vs items have to pay more for. As you unpacked the unit, you said it comes with this and then threw in that it was for more money. The truth is, if you have to pay more money then it doesn’t come with those items. Those are add-ons. They might be well worth the price for some things, but they didn’t come with them. You got a free gift that you were asked to speak about, and while i hope that nobody would begrudge it to you, you have a lot of people that depend on you for honest opinion and facts. We trust your intellect and keen eye for detail and thinking things through. I’m sorry to tell you that I’m disappointed in this one. This is the only one of your videos in which I felt disappointed; you left me with the impression that you gave us a little less than your best because somebody paid for this. And you finished up by asking for money to fund more of this sort of thing. For all the other videos you do, that are of your own thinking, I can see why you are asking for money. But you need to be willing to point out the flaws even in a gift, if you’re going to present it this way. The same as you did for the Stanley cooker, and solving the problems as you go. That, my friend, was stellar. It was not a bad product when you bought it, but it was a much better product after you had it for a little while. Even if you hadn’t addressed a problem, you didn’t back down from acknowledging them fearlessly. All the very best!
Thanks for watching and for sharing your opinion. The stove actually does very well for what it's designed to do and I still think it's a remarkable product. Can it be improved? Of course. And one of the main things is a better ash catchment system. That's actually in the works for the next model.
Ah man, this is just the stove I need. Such a shame Simple Theory don’t make these anymore. Does anyone know if I can buy anything that does what this does?
How does the ash pan attach? Do you have to use the speed plate or the one that comes with the stove and then be sure to order a separate speed plate for cooking?
@@WayPointSurvival I hope you’re successful with that. I recently did a first time Kick Starter order for a small, flat-pack stove. Made in Germany. A bit expensive but it is heavier gauge SS than many of the Chinese knockoffs sold. Have you looked into the Kick Starter process? Your Stanley set hacks have given us many options we’d likely never have considered. 👍👍
Unfortunately just finding out about this great stove just now December 2021. Looks like simple theory gear has close their business. Would you know either where you could still get a pack stove, or another stove that fits the Stanley so well?
I have been talking with the owner and he is hoping to get the stove back in production. So stay tuned and as soon as I have more information I will make it public.
@@WayPointSurvival I have noticed you are quite diligent in discussing weight in other tools like the drill chuck thing and stuff, I guess for you, the weight of this kit isn't an issue because of your passion for it.
Yes come it's still fits. If you watch the video where I tell you how to pack the hacks you can see how it all fits together. However it requires the use of the larger XL stove.
I have spoken with the owner of the company, and if they can work out the details and secure the financing they do hope to bring it back to the market.
No. Unfortunately unfortunately simple theory gear went out of business during the pandemic. However, we have permission to bring the stove back to the market under our branding. Stay tuned for further updates
Any direct links? The website was a basic front page, but no ‘cooking’ or ‘stove’ gear, when I clicked a sub category, it looked like it took me to a spam page
Unfortunately, it is no longer being made as they went out of business during covid. However, we do hope to be able to bring it back to the market at some point.

Fyi- I just tried to link a minute ago and try to add the elevated speed plate to the purchase and it won't let me highlight it or select it. Other wise it will you select original or speed plate options.
I think that means it is sold out. You can bend the regular speed plate tabs up if you are careful and make them the same height. That's basically what the elevated speed plate is anyway as I understand it.
WayPoint Survival Thank you for replying sir. Yeah I can agree as well. The one thing I don’t know is what “normal” means but other wise pretty great kit and not to expensive.

They have stopped making simple theory gear.. do you have an alternative option? NOW.. I do have the Kelty kettle ( base model series)..Thanks L.C.
We have the rights to bring the stove back to the market under our own branding. Stay tuned to the channel for further updates.
Ah man, this is just the stove I need. Such a shame Simple Theory don’t make these anymore. Does anyone know if I can buy anything that does what this does?
I know of no other stove that does as well as this one. Hopefully, we can get things worked out and get it back on the market at some point.
Interesting stove good review.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
How does the ash pan attach? Do you have to use the speed plate or the one that comes with the stove and then be sure to order a separate speed plate for cooking?
The ashpan simply simply sits on the ground. Actually, right now, the stove is not in production. We are working to bring it back to the market.
I want one of those stoves.
We do hope to get them back on the market this year.
Have to say thats a very good set up once everything is on it, how much does it weight with the oven plate and 16oz bottle and all too?
I haven't weighed it. I should do that!
@@WayPointSurvival I have noticed you are quite diligent in discussing weight in other tools like the drill chuck thing and stuff, I guess for you, the weight of this kit isn't an issue because of your passion for it.
Wow brother I love this Lil stove
Thank you! They also have an XL version which will also fit the Stanley set with a cup on the bottom. I did a review on this one as well.
You should do the waypoint Logo on stickers that would be awesome 👍
Maybe someday. Right now all I have are the velcro patches.
Any update on if this stove will be available for purchase
Not yet. We are working on it.
That is really neat!
Thank you! It really is a great stove!
I wish I could still buy this
We are working to bring it back to market. We have permission to bring it back under our own branding. Stay tuned to the channel for further details.
Just watched your Stanley two cup series. It would take me all day to make an egg and bacon biscuit with coffee?
Actually, just like anything else, the more you do something the more efficient you get at it and you could learn to do it pretty quickly.
Yeah they could have added all that that raised ring that you had they could put that in there any of the base plate but yeah it's an idea form later
Thank you for watching!
Does the Sierra or Ozark cup no longer fit on the bottom?
Yes come it's still fits. If you watch the video where I tell you how to pack the hacks you can see how it all fits together. However it requires the use of the larger XL stove.
Awesome!
Thanks!
@@WayPointSurvival you got me to dig out that 2 cup kit, and revisit putting it back in my kit
Any word on the Waypoint Survival branded one?
Not yet. Thanks for asking! We will make an announcement on the channel when we get them ready for sale.
they are out of business! have another suggestion for matching stove?
I have spoken with the owner of the company, and if they can work out the details and secure the financing they do hope to bring it back to the market.
Link to the pack stove flags as a site that may be impersonating simple theory website.
Is there a newer link to the pack stove?
No. Unfortunately unfortunately simple theory gear went out of business during the pandemic. However, we have permission to bring the stove back to the market under our branding. Stay tuned for further updates
It'd be nice if it allowed for the cup also
Besides the green Stanley cup or silicon cup?
Yes, it's one of the things that I talked to the company about for improvements.
16 down 5 to go. Kitchen in a bag! Awesome idea!
Too bad the company no longer exists. That's a great stove
We are in the process of bringing it back onto the market. Stay tuned.
nice stove
Thanks 👍
I will Have think about that one I got one folding stoves the nice thing about it it light weight what the weight on it? steve
It is 11.87 ounces without any add ons.
@@WayPointSurvival thanks on the info
Is there any update to getting these made?
Not yet. We do hope to make a video on it as soon as we have more information.
Unfortunately, Simple Theory Gear went out of business.
Yes, however, I have rights to the product and we are working to bring it back on to the market.
Any direct links? The website was a basic front page, but no ‘cooking’ or ‘stove’ gear, when I clicked a sub category, it looked like it took me to a spam page
Hmm, maybe they are no longer in business or their site is just down. I searched the web and found a link, and it’s not working either
We are working to bring it back to the market.
About the same diameter of the Stanley so it should fit in a 10x12 zippered pouch 🤔😁
Yes, I will be showing how I pack the entire kit soon...
What happened to the sierra cup tho?
I don't always use it in every video.
were can i get this stove?
It's not available right now but we are trying to bring it back to the market.
Can you put the link of this stove pls
Unfortunately, it is no longer being made as they went out of business during covid. However, we do hope to be able to bring it back to the market at some point.
Just clicked the link and it must be broken. Can't figure out how to purchase this stove
Unfortunately, simple theory gear went out of business during the pandemic. However, we have permission to bring the stove back to market under our branding. Stay tuned to the channel for further details.
is the stove still for sale?
We are trying to bring it back to market.
wanted to buy one.. their facebook site says 'permanently closed' ...im bummed ..it looked great and i already have trangia spirit burners....grrr
Yes. We have permission to get it back on the market but at this point have not really had the capital to invest in the production process.
Where can I find the stove at?
It's no longer being made, hopefully we can get it back to the market within the next year or so.
Very interesting can you send me the link’s needed. Thank you
Unfortunately, the company is not currently manufacturing these stoves. However, they are hoping to get production started again.
@@WayPointSurvival any advice on finding them used?
Just keep your eyes open on eBay and places like that.
Great. It is a great piece t kit to be sure!
Where can you purchase this stove at?
I found the web site, thanks.
Glad you found it.
What about the spoon that you made
What about it?
@@WayPointSurvival I don't see it in that kit will it fit
I may have made this video before I added the spoon to the kit. But yes, if you watch how to pack the hacks you'll see where the spoon fits in.
@@WayPointSurvival I love all your videos you are an awesome RUclipsr and I love all your hacks. I done them all
Why I watched all of these ...I have no idea I don’t even own this cookset lol 😂
Well, thank you so much for watching them! It's a really cheap cook set to get started with, and a lot of the ideas can be used on other types of Cook sets.
Hmm seems the store no longer exists for this item?
The owner is hoping to get funding and get them manufactured and back on the market.
@@WayPointSurvival can you please let us know when that happens?
