  • In this edition of Sugar High- Answering Your Questions, PA David goes through some question you, the audience, have posted surrounding GLP-1 medications such as Victoza, Ozempic, Trulicity, and Bydureon. This more casual video offers insight into avoiding some side effects from these medications, where they fit into diabetes management, and other details viewers want to know more about. Be sure to let me know in the comments section what other questions you have and I'll try to address them in future videos. Stay Healthy, Sugar High!

PLEASE COME BACK! When I was diagnosed with Type 2, I found your videos. Your ability to explain complex terms about something that my doctor has little or no interest in teaching was CRITICAL to my managing my Diabetes. There's quite a few new things in the market and your thoughts about the importance of Low-Carb would be wonderful. I can only imagine how much work takes to produce one of these videos is, but you made a difference.

Thank you for your comments on GLP-1 and how they are used for T1 and T1 LADA. 8:15
With some of us still having pancreatic function it’s good to have a bit of “back up” on the facts that GLP-1 mess do not “burn out” the pancreas prematurely.
Yes, it’s off label use. I have found that its really about how aware the patient is, and how well read the physician is.
    Thank you.

Thanks for all the information David. I really appreciate you efforts. After your video on sulponylureas I am going to have a talk with my GP and clinical pharmacist. I was hoping you might do a video on the various supplements that claim to help blood sugar levels. No so much the brands but the base ingredients like cinnamon, gymnema, digestive enzymes, pre and pro biotics. I'd appreciate any insight you can offer regarding these homeopathic alternatives. Thanks again for all the info and insight.

That's a great idea. I'll start compiling some reliable research on these supplements (where it's available) and see what I can put together. Thanks for your feedback!

good morning david, i am a type 1.5 diabetic and have been prescribed toujeo and a short term insulin as well. since i am new to this medication, i have been trying to slowly work into this and introduce this to my body. i started just using the short term first and using half the recomended amount. my endo was smart enough to suggest that i work my way into this program and not just instantly do the short and long term at full doses. I will give her credit on also understanding that i am a special case in that my diet is already void of sugars and carbohydrates and thats not usually a trait diabetics are familiar with. of course, thats what got them there to begin with. i have recently started using the long term and not using the short term right now to see if my regulation and sugar levels are maintaining a good level. i have the dexacom g6 and its great to see how the levels are doing. that wouldnt be possible with the constant monitoring to find out what works and how the effects are when say i do half the dosage in the morning and half at night. im still trying to determ this and may have to do a short term with it. as i said, this monitor is the key and im hoping i can figure out dosage and frequency of what i need. what my greatest fear is that i will stop what little my pancreas is producing. seems as though someone else is kinda on the same trail. i want to increase my pancreatic production, not hinder its production.

David....There are many diabetes specialists online, but I am very happy to have discovered your videos because not only that you are very knowledgeable on the subject, but you are the best at EXPLAINING it.
If I have to make a suggestion (hope you wouldn't mind), that would be to see if you can get more involved in the VERY IMPORTANT ASPECT OF DIABETES MANAGEMENT (and eventual THE CURE) which seems to be THE DIET.
I noticed that you already are knowledgeable regarding this aspect too, but it would be a great help if you can take your time to do a research on the WHOLE FOOD, PLANT BASED LIFESTYLE and especially on the nutritionfacts.org website and let us know what you think about that.
Very interesting about the above mentioned website is the fact that all information provided there is claimed to be based on scientific studies.
Ketogenic diet did not work for many people and science warns about lack of information for long term use.
    Thanks!

FLORIAN BURCEA thank you so much for your kind words and feedback. Diet topics and meal prep videos will definitely be coming up soon; I have all sorts of ideas on what I want to get into, including carb counting, keto, carnivore, plant-based, recipes etc. I’ve been working through a series on medications, but diet videos are on the way!!

    I have a question :)
Last month my glucose was 12,5 and A1c was 77.
    I was diagnosed with Diabetes2.
Now, a month later glucose is 5,1 and A1c is 59.
    I lost 7Kg from 134Kg to 127Kg.
    Heartburn went away.
    I took no medicine.
    How did I do it?

Unfortunately, there's really no way of knowing how one person will react specifically to add medication until trying it. Most people in my experience haven't reported any difference in energy levels in particular. However, sometimes after losing weight, people feel better in general.

continuation of question. look below for beginning. so as the other patreon said, the diet and lifestyle is the key. let thy food be the medicine and i truly believe that. BUT, the pancreas has been so abused over the years that it may be possible that it never recovers. its been my experience over the years that i tend to fight doctors because they cant simply say, i dont know. sometimes i think it comes with the degree. Ive done a ton of research on the subject of dieting and have waded thru hundreds of hours on doctors giving seminars on the hours of research on this topic and its so long and extensive, that its hard to figure out if this really applies. every one is different and i havent got all the answers. but mostly endocrinology seems to over look what is possible in diet and suppliments that can help. I have sought experts such as DR. Ali Nadir and most of the keto friendly doctors are still limited in what they know. I wish i had someone who can look at the big picture and advise me on what really is important. can the pancreas be regenerated and is the modern medicine something that helps. very hard to believe an organization that is wholy subsidized by drug companies that pay their salaries. you never get the full story, only what they want you to know. i saw that your next productions will focus on diets and management,. be careful, you will be scrutinized by mean and malicious people that will want your degree if you dissagree with their findings. Ansel keys comes to mind. How many people did he kill over the years on his guidance?
