This is my first stop to looking into working at the state. My wife is a state employee and loves it. Google sees your content as valuable because your videos are coming right up in my search! Congrats, and thank you so much! I'm looking forward to watching all your videos.
hello just stumbled on your channel......have not watched all the content yet. I am a 54 yr old restaurant owner who had three places when covid hit. I lost it all after 21 years, 19 restaurants and a 1/4 Billion sold in food and bev. Been kinda mentally lost living off savings since pandemic and now antsy to find new career for the home stretch of my working years. Excited to consume your content sir. Cheers!
Hi Kent! You’re right, two years ago I tried to get started and became overwhelmed and gave up. For some reason, something keeps telling me to try again..and so here I am. I decided to look on youtube for help and came across your videos. Thank you for your help! 😊
Hey Kent, this is a great idea. The state exam + application process is not intuitive. Having invested a chunk of time helping others navigate that maze, I look forward to referring people to your channel.
Hey Rob. Thanks for the positive feedback and we're in 100% agreement about the process being "not intuitive". I think we'd both agree that is an understatement too! ;-) Please subscribe and click the bell so you'll be notified when the forthcoming videos get published. Working hard so the videos are valuable and worthy of your and other referrals! TGIF and have a great weekend! :-)
Thanks Kent! Your information and your help will be very helpful. You speak very good, so anybody can understand, especially those who are not a native speaker. I subscribed and hit the notification on to get your video ASAP. Good luck
Thank you for your efforts and presentations on Caljobs career success, just subscribed 👍 I'll go thru your videos coz I had difficulties hopefully by then I'll break the wall. I would like you Kent if you can present for people with disabilities , How LEAP Examinations can proceed with the process when apply for a job. Benefecial helpful Resources for people w disability. Again, Thank you so much Kent
Hazem Atiya, Thanks for your positive feedback in general. In particular, I don't have any experience with the LEAP process (including LEAP examinations) so I'm unable to offer any assistance in that area. Please contact someone in the California Department of Human Resources (Cal HR) for that help. Best of luck in your efforts! Coach Kent - out! ;-)
Thanks much for the kind feedback Zinadin and thanks for subscribing too! Please stay tuned for the next video which will be on the motivation required to work through the application process for State of California jobs. Should be out in a few days! ;-)
Thank you Kent for the information you provided. Is there an upcoming video on "How a Retiree (not from the State of CA) can begin a new career with the State of CA"? You did a Great job with your Introduction to your Channel! Looking forward to your other videos.
No special video required Jackie. The process I've laid out in my videos works for new grads, folks switching to State in mid-career, as well as retirees. It's basically the same process. Best of luck to you!
Most jobs don’t require a college degree. You should be reading job descriptions and applying for jobs you have Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Education (KSEE) related to the job. Between reading job descriptions and applying you’ll need to read Minimum Qualifications (MQs) and take classification exams. Email (kentdills@yahoo.com) if you need help.
Hello Kent, I have a 3 year old bachelors of computer science degree from SFSU with little to no professional experience. How do i get my foot in the door?
Roberto Salazar Jr, I'm not aware of EDD being able or willing to assist with applications. As far as I'm aware, the application process is self-driven. I and all the folks that I know of who work for the State of California applied for jobs on their own. Or with assistance from friends or family. If you watch all my videos in this series you should be able to apply for jobs that interest you. Otherwise, you might ask a friend or family member to watch my videos and then assist you in your effort. Best of luck, Coach Kent! ;-)
