Worked like a charm. Spent $10 for the part on Amazon and got it done. And to think I was considering buying a new washing machine. This video saved me $500.00.
I followed your instructions and fixed my washer myself. It cost $22.00 and about 45 minutes. However the satisfaction of reparing this all by myself is PRICELESS!! I feel empowered and confident. Thank you!!
I'm a 37-yr. old stay-at-home mom and I fixed this all by myself THANKS to TO THIS VIDEO!! Absolutely the step-by-step guide that I needed. Thank you!!!
This video encouraged me to fix my washer myself, by replacing the water inlet valve! I ordered the part on-line using the Serial # of my GE Washer, then reviewed the video again, and went for it! It took me only 5 minutes to replace and fix my washer! Thank you so much for putting these how to videos on line! You saved me a service fee charge! thx! btw I am a 62 yr old woman with no washer repair experience .
Thank you! I broke one of the water valves when I was taking my new (used) washer off of the truck. I took the old part from the old broken washer & replaced it watching this video step by step.....I am woman - hear me roar!
My kenmore series 600 washer is leaking from the bottom. I did change the drain pump, but I still see the water leaking. I did notice my inlet valve was dirty with some black dirt balls in it, could this be reason for the leak?
once i figured out the problem with my washing machine i was searching online for the part and this video came up.....THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! i fixed my washing machine MYSELF (41yr woman) for $15....you are a god-send!! thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Great video - I just finished doing this myself. Sears would have charged 130 + the part. Big savings and good feeling of accomplishment. I'm many years older than the other ladies who also did this. Go girls!
This totally worked, even on my 30 year old Kenmore Series 80, Model 110 with the brown wood-like trim. Looks like not much has changed. Thanks so much!
I still have this washer n it has been top notch to this day. I moved 3x in this period n finally had to replace inlet valve cause of cross threading. Great video on how to take care of this
Thank you. I have a 15 year old Sears Kenmore washer. Even tho the part looked very different from what is in the video, with the information that I got from you, I could adapt easily. The part cost $60 and it took longer to clean the dirty floor under the washer than it did to swap out the part. Thanks again.
I had ignored the slight drip and wetness on the floor under my Kenmore 1981 top loader long enough. Popping the top tonight I found the leak was the inlet valve unit on the hot water valve. From my search I came across you website, found the exact part that I needed for repairs (cheaper than Sears), and even a video confirming how easy it was going to be to swap the unit out. Thanks for supporting repairs on machines that are 35 years old. Excellent job on a very straight forward and to the point video to get the job done. Kudos. Now I won't be shopping for a new $800 washing machine thanks to you.
I have an OLD whirlpool that I just keep fixing myself when something (very rarely!) brakes! Absolutely NOT buying a new one until this one has completely rusted apart! Very thankful for these kind of videos!
@sarahmarie2911 My washer finally bit the dust last year. But I got 7 more years out of it after the valve fix. BTW, these old washers have a heavy metal tub that is enamel coated. They make EXCELLENT fire pits for your backyard or take along on an extended camping trip to undeveloped areas. I repurposed mine for that exact usage. It does take over an hour to dismantle the machine, using wrenches and a Sawzall to cut through metal mounts and sheet metal. But its well worth it. Nothing can compare to a backyard fire pit like this now days.
@@AlaskaOutdoorJournal I am so sorry to hear that about your washer! Hopefully I'll get at least another good 7 years out of mine after I replace my valve too! Lol Never even thought of using the drum as a fire pit. That's actually a really good idea! I'll definitely keep that in mind!
this was a PERFECT instruction video! not only was it EXACTLY what we needed, but it showed variances with models. without this video my husband would have spent hours trying to figure out how to replace the valves! thank you soso much!
Thank you. I had never done anything like this before. With your help i was done in less than an hour. Part cost $20, so i saved at least $80 in labor fees. Thanks again.
Watched your video, ordered the part on Amazon, watched the video again, and installed just like you showed. This is my first ever appliance repair. Took about 30 minutes total. Very easy. You saved me a bunch of money. Thanks.
Great! We're glad we could help with your repair. Water inlet valves can get noisy when they go bad, so that's probably why your washer was making noise.
Thanks RC I just finished ours and thanks to you we're wearing clean clothes. Everything shown here was right on the money. We appreciate all your help and hard work and hope you have a fantastic weekend.
This video is very helpful for replacing the Water Inlet Valve. It's so much easier to do when you can see exactly what you have to remove to gain access to the valve. Thank you
Well, This was my was my second washer repair in the last month. 1st, was the motor coupler. Then, our very hard well water finally took it's toll on the water intake valve. So, for under $50 and a bit of my time, and your helpful videos... both repairs completed! Thank You
Thank you for this video. I have the exact same washer used in this video (a few years older and not as clean looking. Ha!). I got the valve and going to change it out today. Saving me a fortune on labor and distance fees!
Thank You!! Just finished the whole deal in about 10-15 minutes and I was figuring this would take me a few hours since I had never done it before. You're video was invaluable.
Hi There! My name is Paul and I live in the Republic of Panama. I really appreciate this tutorial, since thanks to you guys i got the job done like a pro! It was really easy to do thanks to the easy step by step video you posted. Thank you guys! You really really made my day! Regards from PANAMA!!!!! Happy New Year 2013!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much, I pulled the washer out and I could see that the back doesn't look like it comes off so I googled up instructions. The last time I worked on it my father in law, a Sears service manager, told me how to get in but I've forgot his instructions over the years.
Thanks to this video and a few others showing the repair on different makes, I was able to figure out how to do the repair on my model, which isn't shown anywhere online (and had several other small necessary steps). I ordered the replacement from you guys, it arrived exactly when promised and now our washer no longer drips inside the drum and it appears to run quieter for some reason!
i can't thank you enough for posting the help video as I am more of a visual learner when doing new things. my washer is a ten year old whirlpool imperial and no one sells them anymore . I thought I was going to have to break down and buy one of these new junk washers. : ) glad you put this and the other vidyas(hank hill) on you tube for us to find. they really helped.
Great video! Really made it easy. Most videos would triple the length of time and say no more. I really appreciate the brevity and the effort to make it brief and to the point!
Glen G Thank you! Yes, our technicians and video team do a great job keeping the videos concise and straightforward. It is not an easy task. Thank you for pointing that out.
Very Good Video. On putting back the washer housing I found opening the lid just to peak and line it up on frame was helpful. I have a adapter on my plug (old House) Remember how that goes back on wall too.
Thank you for the quick response. Well, according to Sears, the part is #3979347.... off by one number. I will order the correct part and continue with the replacement. This video is absolutely wonderful, and you are, too!
WOW!!! Mind blown here. That was too easy. I should have watched the video first. I layed mine down on the front, pulled the back panel off, lots of extra unscrewing, then couldn't figure out how to rehook up the clips on the top, which brought me to search this video. I'm always ass-backwards on these projects. LOL.
Wonderful video! This is the first appliance that I have had to fix on my own and I was really worried, but this video had wonderful step by step instructions. Thank you!
It's a carburetor for washing machines :-) I took the old one apart. The biggest problem I always have is getting the top back on ... the sides always seem to bow out and not sit right. This one had an extra challenge of the water nozzle assembly. This white plastic part has a point that goes through the top of the main body and other part (two fins) go through the back assembly. So not only to you have to get the top to play nice - but also make sure that thing is in there correctly.
Never thought I'd be able to fix my washing machine. My only problem was getting the darn top control panel off - mine pulled forward and I'm not very strong. Hoses required a lot of braun as well. Other than that, went very smooth!
The manufacturer actually changed the part number from the number sears gave you to the number I gave you. This happens occasionally, and most companies will have both numbers on file.
The seal between the hose and the water valve could be worn out. It all depends on where the leak is coming from. If the leak is coming from the connection between the hose and the water valve and you already replaced the hose the water valve could be bad.
I tried this and I thought it worked. The cold water started flowing again. I started a load without any clothes to clean the drum out. It filled up and started agitating. After a while, I noticed I didn't hear the end cycle signal. I went down to check on the washer and it was stuck on the rinse cycle just buzzing and no water would come out at all. I had hot water so at least I could wash some clothes. Now, I don't even have that. Could you please help me figure out what is wrong? Why did it work at first and just stop???
Guess our Whirlpool washer was built on a Friday. Took it apart to change out the water valve and noticed the red and white plugs were switched around. Bought the washer new and first time inside it.
It could be a problem with the pressure switch or the pressure switch hose. We recommend using the repair help section of our website (link in the description). If you enter your model number there you'll have access to model, part and symptom specific repair help. We hope this helps!
Had issue with rinse cycle. Machine would fill to normal water level for wash cycle then wash and drain. Then when the water came on for rinse cycle barely any water would come out also sometimes too cold or hot. looked at several videos trying to decipher problem and determined it was either water inlet valve or timer control unit. The water inlet valve was $13 and the timer control $125 so I changed water inlet valve first and that was my problem! When installing new inlet valve there was a mounting bracket on it for fitting several models that I did not need because original screw that I removed screwed right into valve. Also when I went to install electric plugs back on valve they did not want to go on so I had to trim end of plug with nips and cut back plastic clips. plug connections are on there pretty tight should not slip off but will keep that in mind. Hope this helps thanks for video
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I didn't know how to get my control panel off bc there were no screws or encap covers and the screws in the back didnt look right. I had to pop it open.
We have a Kenmore 80 Series Model 110 top load washer. Yesterday suddenly it wouldn't fill with water at the beginning of the cycle when we pulled the knob up to start the cycle, but instead the agitator immediately started turning. (We mainly use the Normal cycle and cold water.) So I pushed the knob in to stop it. Then I turned the knob all the way around to start the cycle again, but again it wouldn't fill up with water, and the agitator started turning. But then after switching the water to Hot/Cold, and moving/switching the load size knob back and forth once, then the water started filling up at the beginning of the cycle. So I stopped it and switched the temp back to Cold water and pulled the knob back out to continue, and it filled with cold water. The cycle continued as normal until it drained, but then before the beginning of the Rinse part when it should fill again with water, it wouldn't fill with water. And after trying a few times to turn the cycle knob all the way around to the point before the Rinse, it never would fill with water. We even switched again to Hot/Cold but nothing, it wouldn't fill. So we just moved the knob to the Spin part to let the cycle finish, so we could just put the things in the dryer. So is our machine now having an issue with the water inlet valve part..? Thanks.
So got everything replaced and back to normal excpet went to run it and it wouldnt stop filling up which led to flooding. What did i miss? Great video btw 👍👍
Oh no! I'm sorry that happened, that would be really frustrating. According to our website the part you need is #3979346. If you go to our website (link in the description), you can type that number in and you'll find the part you need. To confirm that it is the correct part you can also type your model number into the search and find it in the parts listed for your model. If you need anymore help please let me know. And let us know how the repair goes!
My cold water wasn't working. I did this and it worked fine at first. I put it on a regular cycle to just clean out some gunk that got in the washer while I was fixing it. It filled up and began agitating. After a while, I noticed I didn't hear the end cycle signal. I went down to check on the washer and it was stuck on the rinse cycle just buzzing. I spinned and tried to start over. Neither the hot or cold water would come on. I checked everything and the water cane on but it was making a loud banging noise. I turned it off and tried to turn it on again, but the water wouldn't come on again. Can you please help me figure this out? I can't even do laundry now. I don't understand why it worked at first and just stopped.
I have a black kenmore model 110 that has another part similar to this to the other side of the washer and cant find how it fits back on anywhere online
Hi - I assume that another reason for needing to replace the valve is when the water continues to drip into the tub, even after the machine is turned off? Can you please confirm that? Thanks so much!
Great video, simple and effective! Our washing machine seems to be switching the hot & cold water on it's own? I know it is hooked up correctly b/c it has never been a problem before. But for the last month when we put it on hot water, sometimes it's cold and if we switch it to the cold setting then it's hot. Furthermore, after it drains and fills up again for the rinse cycle it will be back the other way, where hot is hot and cold is cold? Does this seem like an inlet valve problem or something else? Thanks.
The water valve only does what the selector switch tells it to. Some washers have an auto sensor that will switch the hot and cold on and off to get the proper mix in the tub. I don’t believe that your machine has this . You most likely have a bad selector switch but even that is not a very common part to go bad. The only way to know for sure is to check power at the valve and trace it back to the problem with the wiring diagram.
It sounds like your pressure switch may be stuck in the closed position, so you washer always thinks it is full. If that isn't it we would need a model number to do further research for you.
My washer stopped filling after completing a cycle. I'm hoping this is the issue. I removed the water inlet valve and ordered a new one... Not sure what else it could be
My Roper washer is dripping from the top down into the tub, which has a few inches of water in the bottom. Just to be sure: the water inlet valve is causing this, right?
My Kenmore leaks into the drum. Do I have to replace the water valve (as you did) to stop it from dripping from the white plastic piece that hangs over the top of the drum?
Is there any way to adjust the hot to cold ratio? I live in a northern state and our normal tap water is very cold. I have my hot water source open all the way at the main valve but when I attempt to fill the tank with the HOT setting it fills at a very slow trickle. The COLD and WARM settings fill very fast but the WARM setting is very cold...not warm at all. I can obviously adjust the hot to cold ratio at my water source but this is going to make both my cold and warm cycles fill extremely slow.
Wonderful video, everything was going smooth until I ran into a snag with the replacement part. The replacement I ordered looks exactly like the one you are installing in this video, but the part I am taking off is brown and blue, with electrical connectors at the base that attach to the hose. When trying to find the part for my particular washer, the info said it was replaced with this blue one ... that doesn't fit. Do you carry parts for Kenmore model #11024932202? Thank you!
The Washer in my Apt, was leaking at the Cold Water Inlet Valve.I thought it might be the Hoses,so I replaced them. Then I noticed it was still leaking lightly. So then I w'd just turn the Water Faucets off, when I finished using the Washer. Then a few days ago,I noticed a puddle of Water, near my washer slightly STILL coming from the Cold Water Inlet Valve I realize, the Cold Water Faucet,on the Wall,is now Bad.But is my Water Inlet Valve, bad too,if the cold is lightly leaking? what makes it bad ?

A great help. Using this, I had no surprises. Although, doing it in the middle of a floor looks a lot easier than in my tiny utility room! :-)
Thanks!
This worked perfectly for me, thanks!
Awesome! Congrats on a successful repair!
Thanks for the comment! We love to hear success stories.
I have a black kenmore model 110 that has another part similar to this to the other side of the washer and cant find how it fits back on anywhere online
so is this something i should look at if my washer is giving me a LF (low flow) error and not moving forward in the cycle?
Thanks. Saved a lot of money.
Thank you, this helped me out today. Appreciate informative videos like this
Okay where is the dryer, sink, dirty clothes, dog ,kid ,and wife yelling?
That's for you to deal with :-)
Thank you this was very helpful and informative 👍👍
Hi - I assume that another reason for needing to replace the valve is when the water continues to drip into the tub, even after the machine is turned off? Can you please confirm that? Thanks so much!
That's great! We're glad we could help out.
What ia the part number to the hose connected to the valve
No problem! Glad to help!
It sounds like your pressure switch may be stuck in the closed position, so you washer always thinks it is full. If that isn't it we would need a model number to do further research for you.
My washing machine started running as soon as I turned the cold water back on. Will replacing the water inlet valve fix this problem?
Very good info; my original inlet valves eventually got hosed by icky-poo hard water. Cheers!
Thanks!
The model that I have has no screws in the back.
I just popped the front control panel with a flathead screwdriver instead of a putty knife.
Very helpful; this provided exactly what I needed. Thank you!
My Kenmore leaks into the drum. Do I have to replace the water valve (as you did) to stop it from dripping from the white plastic piece that hangs over the top of the drum?
Can just see it in your video at the 1:23min mark.
Awesome. Thanks for the help!
Is there any way to fix the inlet valve if it is leaking? Some sort of tape or glue or something to put around the seams if it has a leak?
It's very hard to effectively fix a inlet valve. They can very easily end up more damaged. We recommend just replacing it.
My kenmore series 700 stops in the middle of the cycle and powers down but the water stays filling up.
