I bought two Mazda cars and was in two accidents. Luckily, I walked away unharmed, thanks to the safety features of my Mazda. I'm grateful for my life and the protection provided by my Mazda. I believe this is now my favorite brand. I recommend it to anyone looking for a safe and reliable car. Thank you.
Thanks for doing these videos! I purchased a 2024 CX-30 GT and I'm anxiously awaiting the delivery due around the end of December. Your videos are getting me well prepared for my new vehicle and I appreciate the work you are doing for me, and I'm sure many other Mazda customers. Keep up the great work! 👍
After many months I’m getting my head around the iActive stuff. The manual is too complicated, there needs to be a iActive for dummies book 😂 I think I’ve got my head around the MRCC but not the traffic support mode,or stop & go or whatever it’s called. I’ve worked out that the collision avoidance mode that says BRAKE on the HUD is fully independent of MRCC, meaning that as long as it’s activated in the menu it will be functional regardless of the MRCC being on or off. That’s good because that BRAKE warning with the buzzer can be helpful at times. I’ve decided to turn off lane keep assist, it’s a bit frustrating because as often as not it doesn’t work. It’s very situational dependent, my preference is just turn it off. I don’t feel I need it anyway.
Wow, in the past 8 minutes, you answered so many of my questions. I printed out the list, and will check all the settings tomorrow. New cars should come with a link to this video!!!!!! I'll check tomorrow for follow-up videos. "Everything is easy to do, when you know how to do it!!!!!!"
Thank you for this, Jonathan. I bought my new CX-5 about 5 weeks ago and all I got was a filled-out PDI checklist shoved in front of me for my signature. But by that time, I had been in the dealership for 3 hours just to take delivery. I came in at 8:30am on Saturday morning (pre-arranged time) for delivery in order to avoid the busy hours. This was a cash purchase so even less reason for the delay. Regarding the auto AC, I find myself leaving it on the manual setting on full LOW temp so that it keeps me cool with the lowest possible fan setting. Less noise that way and easier to hear the entertainment system and phone calls. One other interesting thing: I've noticed that the silver trim around my left side AC vent shows up in my driver side mirror. Very annoying and distracting. It obscures the primary image in the mirror entirely. I have a feeling this is not the norm for CX-5's but my dealer adds ceramic tint to all its cars and I suspect this is the cause. Until I figure out a permanent solution, I've covered the vent trim with black electrical tape. One more: I'm really liking controlling the infotainment screen from the console instead of a touchscreen. It took me about a day to get used to it and about a week to become really adept at using it. I never have to reach forward to touch the screen or take my eyes off the road for more that just an instant. I'm a believer.
I’m glad this video helped. I’m also excited for you and your new vehicle. I’ll try to pay closer attention to the driver’s side mirror for reflection. Keep enjoying your ride! 💙💙
Bought a 2022 Miata and am picking it up next week. One of the things drivers are complaining about is not being able to use the touch screen feature while moving. I think that using the console control is a lot safer anyway. Once you get used to it, you can control everything with just your fingers on the knob. No need to take your eyes off the road. Plus there will be no finger prints on the screen. Have a 2019 Camry and the finger print smudges on the screen are annoying but that is the only way to input your commands. Just my opinion.
Jonathan, just purchased a 2023 CX-30 Select yesterday, and I gotta say, your videos were some of the best resources when I was doing research. Wish I was closer so I could have given you the sale, but thanks a ton for the content!
My cx-9 is the first vehicle I had with that auto hold feature. You really have to be careful with that! I was at a drive through pharmacy and I had that engaged and I consciously made the decision to put the car in park instead of relying on the auto hold. I'm glad I did. I had to get my wallet out of my pocket and accidentally mashed on the gas pedal in the process. We would have gone flying into a wall if I didn't have it in park.
Sorry to say, you used it incorrectly. The auto hold feature is not a parking gear. You should have put it in parking. Autu hold is for giving you convenience to put your foot from breaks at traffic lights or complete stop traffic.
The majority of it applies to CX-5 also. I also did a follow up, Day 2, where I featured a CX5. Let me know if you discover any questions not on the video.
Thanks so much for these vids. New owner of a cx90 and new to Mazda altogether. Love the vehicle but some features are not as easy to get a handle of compared to say, Ford. Or Hyundai. Like case in point the Navi and how it takes an address for directions. And how that gets reflected in the HUD…maybe a vid on those kinds of comfort features? Thanks!
I have keyless entry. Why can't I leave my car running and lock it while i run into the gas station or something? I thought you could do that with keyless entry?
I used to have that feature on my Lexus RX 350. But I had an actual keyhole to put the manual key in versus this hidden one on the Mazda. I haven’t been able to figure out how to do it on my Mazda either.
I agree. There are dealerships that do a better job than others. Also some things are easy to forget until you need them. I hope this resource helps in those times.
We have owned 8 Mazdas since 2007 and each and every time our dealership 2:39 spent all the time to explain the upgrades and changes. Our Dealer is Angevaare Mazda in Peterborough, Ontario Canada.
Anyone figure out how to fold on the mirrors? I have the preferred ans it doesn't have the buttons for it. Afraid to damage them if i try to do it manually
Unless it’s in the menu then you can’t. You could cut a piece of cardboard and sit it in the dashboard opening then it will not project onto the glass.
@@tuantq06I think it’s a new feature. I don’t think my 2023 CX-5 does that. If I’m using the hold feature the handbrake will activate when the car is turned off, which is useful, but there is no way it seems to get it to deactivate when the car is put into drive.

I rarely use it. It does have its benefits though.
How is that related to auto hold? If you mash on the gas pedal by mistake in any car without being in park you're going to be in trouble.

Great idea for a video, but if the dealership is truly consumer-centric this should be part of the new car delivery process.

You can turn the radio off by using the button on your steering wheel, or you can also just turn the volume all the way down on the consul knob.
