The quality of your videos, editing and your story telling ability is unmatched. I can relate to you so much as I’ve been keeping fish since I was 12 and I’m 34 now.
I've also bred them, i found once you see 1 hatched you can run your fingers gently across the batch and they'll all hatch at once, i just fed algae discs from birth
That's really great, Nick. Thanks for sharing it. I'd love to see a deep dive on your peristaltic pump set up, how you set it up, and how it works. Thanks again! ~Ron
Great video. I have bred them in the past. With mine they needed flow and high protein diet to spawn. I let the dad raise them in the tank. I found I had better success with the young if I had a ton of anubias. I guess that would be comparable to your banana leaves. I never fed the babies specifically, but good tip with the powdered food. Oh, they were all in a 20gal standard tank.
You really remind me of my active Time as a Breeder & Dealer from the early 1980s to the late 2010s. You obviously have-as we say in Germany-"the blue Thumb"! Okay, actually the correct saying is "you have the green Thumb" (Plant breeding). I wish you all the best for your Future.🍀
My royals began spawning just before Xmas. I have 1M/2F and both females spawn with him within 24-48 hours of one another. I leave the eggs with dad until they’re well developed then scrape them off and into a hatching tray. Once hatched I feed sera micron and banana or mulberry leaves. After a few days I start adding grindal worms as they can last up to 48 hrs in the water. Mine have been spawning every 7-10 days.
Wonder if a good food for these as babies would be something like bacter AE or similair bacterial shrimp food. Bacterial-colonized leaves are very nutritious on their own though.
Really good video! what about if you raised them in a tank with a lot of leaves and straight green water? you wouldnt be able to see them developing, but it could work
Congrats 👏🏻 on spawning these guys; they are beautiful beautiful fish. Several years back I was very successfully breeding and raising farlowella vittata, but no real success in the last couple of years. The parents seem to be eating the embryos.
They are a interesting breed of fish. It be nice to really know the details of requirements needed to breed these fish as it sounded like you wasn't totally sure on that. Perhaps that is something you could try in the future. I have noticed in your videos that you don't do tetra breeding that much. I know that they are mostly egg laying fish but some of them can be challenging!
I’m going to challenge you to make an aquaterrium for fry. Proper soil substrate capped with sand or fine gravel. A planted corner with an aerator to move the water. Another corner with a pile of dead leaves and a handful of floaters. This provides the biofilm, infusaria and algae. Add shrimp to clean, avoid snails that might eat eggs or at least disturb them. This is how I succeeded with bettas. Gonna add, no need for water changes or very minimal.
Hi . . . I have sent you a personal email concerning the bred of Danios here in South Africa, but up to now . . . it has been more than a week ago already, you have yet to comment. Does youtube have the wrong email address for you ?
oh my god bro, you caught one actually breaking out of his egg shell!?!? + the babies are mad cute now listen, I have been in the hobby for like 15 years, just recently my oscar died and he was the only one I had so I just stopped the hobby because it grew to bother me more than entertain, but your videos always make me wanna go back just recently I visited my local fish store and I realized, I really didnt want fish no more, but every time I watch a video of yours, I kind of want to get a new aquarium I can not make a decision if my life depended on it man xd your stuff is just too good to go unnoticed
Great video! I was happy to have the pleasure of being with you when you spotted the eggs and fry, it was a cool thing to watch 🙂

I'm back. I think I' going to give these a go. This makes a greaat step-by-step tutorial. Thanks! ~Ron
I've also bred them, i found once you see 1 hatched you can run your fingers gently across the batch and they'll all hatch at once, i just fed algae discs from birth
Yeah exactly, they’re catfish. If they indiscriminately just latch onto surfaces for food, why not throw in a few wafers?
Omg so tiny and so cute!!!! I love whiptails❤
That's really great, Nick. Thanks for sharing it. I'd love to see a deep dive on your peristaltic pump set up, how you set it up, and how it works. Thanks again! ~Ron

This is a really well made video! I love fish but can't keep any at the moment but this was put together so well that it's super enjoyable to watch.
