    Kenneth with his phone really pissed me off! If I’m in a honeymoon phase with somebody and moving in, and they tell me to make dinner, and then enjoy eating it with me and then go on their phone
    I am asking him what he’s gonna make me for dinner! That expectation from him and disrespect was so out of line! really upsetting!

    • @membriash
      @membriash  6 месяцев назад +6

      Yeah, him saying you make dinner is really only acceptable IMO if he was joking and was making dinner (or helping to) or something. That took me aback too. I think I was more forgiving on the phone use, knowing his profession, but not that its a healthy thing. Just from the understanding that his job allows no boundaries

    I have to disagree with you about Clay. Yes he acknowledged that he has issues, but I feel like he's expecting AD to fix those issues for him instead of him actually doing the work and going to actual therapy. It's also not good for AD because she's once again fallen back into the pattern of trying to fix a broken man which clearly hasn't worked out for her. I think that Clay telling AD that about his father's infidelity and having no good role models when it comes to faithful men is basically him confessing that he's most likely going to end up cheating on AD.
    I don't think either of them should be in a relationship with anybody at this point. They should be in therapy working through their issues and trying to heal past traumas separately so they can stop ignoring red flags and make better decisions about who they allow in their life.

    • @tabea9254
      @tabea9254 6 месяцев назад +5

      I think similarly, him sharing that was very vulnerable and admirable and I want to believe him that he genuinely is just anxious, but it could also be him trying to preemptively excuse his actions so that if he does end up cheating on her he can be like ah well, I did tell you this was such a big hurdle for me because of everything I've been through so you can't actually be mad at me because it'd be invalidating my history

    • @frogfoot89
      @frogfoot89 6 месяцев назад +5

      I agree with you completely! It's great that Clay is opening up about these problematic things, but it's a long journey before he's ready for any commitment. He needs time to heal, then he can consider a realtionship.
      Whereas as you said AD needs to work on breaking out of that pattern. I know from experience what it's like to always want to help fix my partner to be what I preceive as the best versions of themselves! It not only doesn't work, but it broke me in the process every single time. It's a hard pattern to break and she won't be in a healthy relationship (yet alone a marriage) until she does break that pattern.

    It's extremely harmful for Clay to be perpetuating the dangerous stereotype that all black men are unfaithful. I get that it's what he watched his father do, but the fact that he's like "I don't know if I can be faithful because I've never seen a black man be faithful" made me really sad. He can't really believe that, can he? I REALLY hope not.

    Clay's speech about everyone around him cheating and his "fear" of letting her down is him setting up his excuse for when he does cheat in the future. I've heard it before and I've used it before when I was younger. It's fine if he's not ready for marriage but don't go on a show where the goal is marriage. If he needs therapy he needs to do that and spend some time working on himself before considering such a serious commitment.

    I am so with you on Jimmy so far. I think he is going to be bad again but right now I think the bad one in the relationship is Chelsea, her insecurities coming through verbally and through her actions can actually teeter towards toxic even though I understand why she feels that way. My prediction is Trevor and her will get together in the end since they will meet again and hopefully she will be happy. The common theme here is that all these contestants need therapy LOL

    For a couple who's not had a lot of experience in relationships (assuming, bc 20 yrs together), you're doing great making these calls based on your intuition and other means. I love that you say when something makes you uncomfortable even though you don't yet know why. Those are the best calls and so authentic. When people speak about those gut feelings it helps everyone else learn to connect to their own, perhaps lost intuition. Thank you for that.
    I give you permission for all my comments.
    The biggest red flag I think you might be missing (the severity of) and stands out to me is Chelsea's insecure attachment and lack of self-esteem. You have noticed it more lately, but I believe it's a very serious case and very destructive. Although I'm not a fan of Jimmy's, this is not something he's causing, nor something he could heal. His behavior leaves a lot to be desired, but even if he was as attentive as she would want him to be, the problem this poor woman suffers from would still find a way to wreak havoc. This complex is behind all the weird moves she's made and is making her hide her true intentions, makes her unable to be honest, or state her needs directly and uses passive aggressive moves and tiny manipulations to feel secure. Unfortunately those tactics don't work and she'll perpetuate this cycle until she get's real with herself and gets help for it.
    The irony is that when you have insecure attachment you are not attracted to seemingly secure connections (Trevor), but to testy ones (Jimmy) because your picker is screwed up by developmental trauma.
    I feel deeply for her. I was her when I was her age and much longer. But help is possible.

    Speaking about Clay, I am of thought when someone tells you who they are, listen. Whether he is good intentioned or not, he is not ready for marriage or to be with one person. To me, he's setting the groundwork, so when he cheats he'll say I told you that's who I am. It may not be conscious on his part, but he's giving himself wiggle room.
    I don't think he's necessarily a bad guy, but not marriage material...yet :)

    Why was the "bean dip" only done to AD? Then why would you ask someone else to single out AD again? To sexually touch/embarass her? I don't throw around racist labels but feel like Laura has some problems with AD whether she's fully aware of why. I also feel like Chelsea calling out ADs butt when Jimmy only said it to her was sus too. AD is too good for these ppl.
    Jimmys body language/actions don't match his words, that's why Chelsea is paranoid (her own fault for the Megan Fox reference) and acting needy because she knows he's not attracted to her.

    • @membriash
      @membriash  6 месяцев назад +1

      I hear you on the Laura thing. Hearing from a few others on here, whether she meant it or not, Laura’s actions do probably have some latent racist tendency, and it at least follows a tradition of the way black women are treated in the US. Laura, 100% agreed. How are people not challenging her on her behavior I don't understand.
    Clay is a pleasant surprise to me because he's getting more and more vulnerable, inspired by AD. But I'm a bit tired of women having to do a lot of work to carry men's potential and continously push them to open up. I want to see what he will do to take responsibility for his growth, regardless of AD. So far so good, but we'll see if he's ready or just has the potential to be in a relationship like this later in life.
    AD has that red flag of feeling not deserving of love and father wound (Again, I feel for her, I can relate to that). She is so impressive though, so I'm hoping she will continue to work on that and find healing in this or another relationship.

    Going back to the Laura/Jessica situation mentioned about 11 minutes in, I don't think that's as problematic as other people do. I think Laura had good intentions at first with wanting to protect Jessica while keeping Chelsea's confidence. However, it was impossible to do both in that situation which is why it didn't go well. That being said, just about everything else she says/does annoys me. She is controlling, knit-picky, and seems to have a need to always be right regardless of how wrong she is.

    I love you all's grounded perspective and couple energy so much. Thank you for that. You're so refreshing to see and hear. 😊 I would like to honestly remind everyone that Kenneth was not the type of guy who dated white women and he's 25! And even though AD's intentions were good, they triggered his feelings of being outside of his comfort zone. And that's ok. Every person in every race is not going to be able to do interracial relationships. I don't think Brittany deserved the way he broke it off. He is defintely emotionally distant in relationships. I hope she finds the right black guy that will give her what she will thrive in, since that's her norm. Poor Jeremy just caved to Laura's madness. She's definitely the mean girl this season. I really wish AD would talk about herself more. She just lets Clay go way into his own feelings and thinking but she gives zero self expression. smh Regarding your comments about Jeremy apologizing to AD, you all are amazing in your ability to see and know the true issue in that cringey moment. TY Even though Jimmy "seems" as if he's trying to make it work with Chelsea, I absolutely have no doubt that he will lower the boom as soon as he sees Jessica in person. Like, he seems like the type of guy who will lie to you just to get an emotional moment to end. And with Chelsea's neediness, there's no other way for him to go, honestly. subscribed! 😊😊

    All of that oohing and awwwing over Kenneth getting a chair for Brittany and look where they are now. I skipped past them after the pods until now because I thought they were solid, but Kenneth showed himself. As a man of the cloth, 👀 he dealt with Brittany unfairly and insincerly. He knew he wasn't attracted to her at the reveal. Yes AD and him did have a quick convo about kids, but a man who is in love and faithful wouldn't have been deterred by a stranger expressing their concerns about the future. If that's the case, any stranger in Walmart could tell him the same thing and we would get the same results. Whatever the reason, he wasn't into her. I hate how he shut down, froze her out, and then play it out like everything was all in Brittany's head and all her fault. Brittany seemed to be open, thoughtful, considerate, and patient and all Kenneth had was silence, phone staring, and go make me dinner.
    I can't feel sad for either Jimmy or Chelsea because they both choose this. It doesn't matter what Jimmy does because she will always live in fear of Jessica and that Megan Fox bait and Jimmy knows he choose shallowly, but I think by episode 7, he was trying to make it work and Chelsea was drowning in insecurity. Chelsea does zero self-reflection or admit to her own flaws. Everything is Jimmy's fault and the ghost of Jessica is always around. Chelsea's anxiety issues is the kind of thing that can make someone go crazy. I think Jimmy should run right now.

      I wasnt aware wed done this multiple times but Ill look out for it if it comes up again. Culture is a lot more than just “American”, like there are regional and household differences. I was specifically talking about my discomfort with “messy eating habits” and why I dont care when someone is deemed a messy eater, which I stand by my statement on. I could see he might be considered a messy eater by some, but I just wasnt really blown away. Maybe we are messy eaters too. I get how it might seem like I was attributing ‘culture’ to Clay’s mannerisms but it was meant as context for why I dont care about almost anyones habits, hence the noodle reference.
