    Are you thinking of doing a video on the new templates we can now use in Premiere Pro V24 ?

    Hey Colin! It's Joey. Thanks for this explanation! I doubt I'll use this media import... most of the time the cards I use have media meant for multiple projects. It's easier for me to just use windows to drag and drop the files on the card into the correct file folders I make on my computer's editing drive. However, it's good to know what is happening behind the scenes when this type of import is used. Thanks again!

    I think the biggest issue is Adobe is trying to make it all too easy and thus dumbing down Premiere for the absolute newbie. I see this with Hitfilm whereby new users have NO clue what they are doing and things like not ensuring their footage is even the right frame rate, or using variable frame rate when the editor (most, if not all) require constant frame rate and just to simplify with a "one click" solution is, in my view, not wise.
    It adds unnecessary complexity and leaving it on only adds problems later on is also not good. I don't ingest until I've done all transcoding and I make a folder in the file where the entire project goes, just for transcoding so when I go to import into Hitfilm, I can pull from the transcoded files already done. Saves confusion and to an extent, time.

      Lot's of users come to Premiere Pro from only knowing how to use an iPhone. That's the level of "expertise" that Adobe has to deal with.

      @@VideoRevealed That is very true, but still should not dumb down the newbie into the delusion that digital video editing is "simple", one button, boom it's done, when it's not.

    I think I will stick to importing footage with the computer's operating system and then open Premiere.

    Sorry Colin but this new Import mode is a mess. Don't see much value over what worked for years. As far as the new method being there to help new folks... hmmm. Everyone who has used a Windows or Mac computer knows how to do basic copy/move files with Explorer or Finder. Basic. There is very little value to this new complicated method. Anyone who uses a camera card, mag, hard drive - whatever knows how to file manage. I'll still use the tried and true method of file management and thankful it is still there. Offload cards with Explorer/Finder - make backup- copy - Right Click or shortcut key to import into Project. This is like Lightroom Classic non-standard file management. If you use Bridge to offload cards, it becomes overly complex.

      I thought the same thing but over the last year I see many users who have never owned a computer and everything they know is based on an iPhone. What makes it worse is Apple removes the labour of file management on their devices so users expect the computer to magically do what their phone has done. When you tell them THEY have to manage their files and know where stuff is, they think Premiere Pro is broken!! It's insane I know but that's what Adobe is trying to do to help these users make video editing easier.

      @@VideoRevealed Yep! you're probably right. Hope Adobe does allow keeping the standard method available too. Thanks so much for the heads up on the "quirks" of the new file management. Sure you have saved a lot of folks big bloated drives scratching their heads saying "what the heck is going on here." Thumbs up Colin.

    Makes the whole process more complicated, it seems to me. I'll stick with the old way. Wish Prelude was still around.

    I'm currently trying to problem solve why it's only Ingest-Copying half the time. I have an external drive and importing via Media Browser and want to copy-ingest. It only works randomly half the time. Seems like a bug : (
    Update: Ok I fixed it by renaming the original file in Windows. Clearly a bug.

    Just curious to know. At times, I have had a clip where the lip sync is lost midway though the length of the video and audio tracks are same. Have you come across such instances? I have also had issues when playing a video on the timeline, the audio of some other track plays!!

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  2 года назад

      I do not experience any sync issues. It may have to do with the video format you're using and you could try converting to a different format using Handbrake: ruclips.net/video/1xer2klRUeU/видео.html

      @@VideoRevealed Totally agree on Handbrake, that is how I transcode the footage.

    7:43 And we claim something to Adobe, they say “...for that reason we have de community forum...”. The concept of import is also tricky. What I did few days ago is copy all media to a folder within the project, using the finder, and then, recently, IMPORT to the timeline. Other times, because I know the interface, I drag the media to the project BUT checking that is the destination is the Media Browser.

    🤓😳 I guess the media location will switch after the MD5 is complete. This wont effect my workflow as I copy my data while doing other tasks, by the time I open PP the data has been on the machine for some time. Others will have to get used to it...Hope no one looses data or think they have.

    Adobe should just bring back Prelude as a strictly ingest and proxy-editor and as a hook to MAM systems. This process just adds to another unnecessary layer of complexity.

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  2 года назад

      Lot's of MAMs have their own Proxy workflows and Prelude is dead as dead can be. 😬

    You didn't mention that you went in and renamed each file on the card. Far too often, I find that my students just drag and drop the video files from the card (with the camera-given names) and then they can't find anything later in the edit!
