Never knew I needed this - literally have been manually doing this for years whenever I needed to work on a separate device/ with someone else, now I’m excited(?) to collaborate with another editor for a project 😂
Have not had a very sweet and useful clip like this in a long time. And you made it worth staying until the end because there were some bonus tipps! Love it.
Hi Javier, pay attention that this method doesn't work for level 2 nest. I mean that the footage in level 2 nest will not be copied and Premiere will never tell you ( shame to Adobe for this). To avoid this (and other) issues, i created a script. I don't want to do any adv here, i'll contact you later to explain quickly how it works
Literally want to cry b/c editing my current project is killing me and I wasn't sure how to transfer all of it to potentially work on it at home. Thank you so much for this, will be checking out your other vids for help
Kudos on your "hit like and subscribe" game! Love the way you roll that up into your presentation. No extra time taken, you can get right to the meat of your video. It worked on me, liked and subscribed!
Just had to sub after this. Thanks so much man! I had seen some other videos like your proxies video and the RED files one, and you just helped again massively with this so I had to sub. Your lessons are awesome, and it's great to get advice from someone who actually works in the industry instead of influencer youtubers
Everytime I do this it doesnt transfer over the actual project file just all the files that were in the project. So i cant even open it in adobe premiere pro
This is amazing!! What happens if your footage is using proxies? Do the proxies get copied over too? Or, will the person you share the project with have to create new proxies?
My issue is how do I share proxies only and then reconnect when I get the project file back. I'm using RED files and BRAW files so sharing with space in mind can be an issue.
I was really excited about the "consolidate" setting because I thought it would only export what was necessary, but when I tried it, the folder size was the exact same. I'm not even sure how it was different from the copy setting. Here is the situation that I'm trying to solve: I edit videos that are 25+ minutes. We want to make RUclips shorts from some sections of each video. I only want to export certain snippets to send to an editor so they can reformat it to be vertical. However, the footage all comes from the same video file, which is about 4GB. I only want to send a handful of 30-second clips all from this one file without trying to send over the entire 30-minute video. I hope this makes sense. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Project manager often doesn't seem to collect files from after effects comps (at least in my experience). I always end up using premiere's project manager for premiere files and collect files function inside after effects for those files. I do most of the stuff in ae and just assemble sequences and some other clips in premiere so maybe premiere doesn't like copying hundreds of files from ae comps. Always found this weird but if anyone else experiences that premiere doesn't include files from AE comps, you can just go to file>dependancies>collect files in after effects and save everything from there. Anyways, thanks Javier!
Agreed. It only collects the .aep file/dynamic link. I always do a collect-like you mentioned-of the assets in the AE project. Including separate collects of AI files used if there are linked files in those, ie, images, etc. AE won't collect those links.
so good... I am still working off a macbook pro with large screen but am running out of memory and speed... I want to get a new set up, is the M1 the way to go... I have a show on discovery channel and self produce 70 percent of it... thanks for your help and vibe, great running across you.
Great tutorial Javier. I wish there is an update in the near future that respects your bins hierarchy in Premiere when project managing like after effects does. That is still not a thing right?
Does anyone go back into the new collect and rebuild your bins' hierarchy or just leave everything loose in the new collect? I hate handing off what looks like a messy folder to another editor when I'm so meticulous in my bin structure when editing a project.
If i am working with someone on the same project from another state and we both have same media but perhaps different paths he has a lacie and I have renamed by lacey to something else... What is the easiest way to share our edits back and forth within the same project... I have watched this video and it is great for those that don't have the same media on both computers but what is easiest if I just want his edits to footage and transitions etc and we both have the same footage on drives... thank you for your help
I don't understand but this does not work for me for some reason. When I do this process it still has some files offline... while on the External Hard Drive where the project was initially created works perfectly fine. It may have something to do with the project being Linked to AE file. Any thoughts?
Sending over the copied file to my client. However I am using Dropbox to send. Is there another way or proper way to send these files? It’s taking like 3hrs to send on dropbox
Hi Javier! Thank you very much for your videos, they are super helpful! I want to ask you about the project manager, do you know if I only want to export the part of the shot that I used in Premiere? When I export the timeline in Project Manager, the footage is the same than the original but, if I wanna only the edit footage, are there a solution for it? Thank you again!
Dope video, man. All your videos are. I have a quick question...Is there a quick way to clear out the ins and outs of all the b roll clips you lassoed before creating the stringout?
Finally, I solved it. The project has one clip that has slow motion with optical flow settings. That's the main cause. The error is popping up; after removing it, the problem is solved.
Javier!!! You know, this is definitely RUclips University level stuff right here. You saved my butt. I had to use the option to bring over everything 'handles' and all and it worked perfectly! I'm not sure about what to do with the images in the temp file because that's where Premiere will look for them, but it's ok. One question though...I initially tried it WITHOUT bringing in the handles and such and everything came over, but I couldn't expand the sequence to the individual clips. I even tried double clicking on the timeline. Can you explain how I might reveal all the clips once transferred? Thanks so much, you and the entire community offer so much help to those of us just dabbling. Enjoy the approaching holidays!!!
Awesome explanantion! love your teaching style! :) Unfortunately I'm having problems with subclips :( 1) when collecting files for subclips as well, Premiere will duplicate the same master footage over and over again for EACH subclip. (what the heck??). 2) to solve this, I tried deleting all of those dups and relink to one master footage. BUT now all subclips' previews In/Out points will get broken inside premiere and it'll show the entire master footage duration instead! Javier (or anyone else) do you know this issue and how to solve this? :(
Excellent tutorial! New subscriber! I'm trying to find more information about using Team Projects, if you are planning any tutorials for that or have done any already, please let me know.
Hi, is there a way to have the collected files be in the original folder hierarchy? Like the footage be in a video folder, etc instead of all the files dumped together
I have been using this technique for a while now in Premiere but my problem is that dynamically linked AE projects still need to have there links collected separately or they are missing when opened by another editor. It all gets very messy and time consuming. Is there a better way to do this? Any help much appreciated.
I would have liked to see how you actually share it with Lila...do you upload it to google drive maybe? also, if I understood correctly, the file you saved includes the source footage...so is it safe to say you don't have to send the source footage to Lila?
Everything was so to the point and well made so I thought I'd leave a critique of 0:18. If I've come to solve a particular problem on your video, I'm coming to solve that problem. Not be told about a separate RUclips channel that features solutions to problems that are not relevant to me right now. I think you wanted to briefly shout her out. That distracted you from getting in the headspace of your viewer who is in need of the solution you have pledged to offer. So the shoutout was disruptive at worst and ineffective at best.
Love your Videos Javier. You've found yourself a special way to edit your RUclips Videos. In addition to that, I love your style of presentation. However, there are two things, that made me forget about your channel for a short time. 1. Some thumbnails. They mostly show your face with an expression and what the video is about. But they don't tell me "I need to know this!" 2. The topics of your videos. This video for example is again very well done in terms of presentation and edit. But I don't care about "How to Copy and Share a Premiere Pro Project with Someone" What I'd love to see is recreational videos, where you show an effect or filmstyle and recreate it. With that, you could 1. Change your thumbnails in terms of not focussing on your face and the topic, but focussing on the effect / filmstyle and celebrity, that used the effect / filmstyle. Take your video "How to UNNEST Clips in Premiere Pro". Just take yourself out of the thumbnail. People that click on the video are mainly interested in the effect and are going to see your handsome face in the first couple seconds! (Film Booth made a great video explaning a new way of creating a thumbnail: ruclips.net/video/nijjT3JPQkY/видео.html) 2. People wanna now, how some effects werde made (behind the scenes). Especially with videos / films, that blew up and got everyones attention. For example the effect of Bella Poarches Music Video. If you present a thumbnail like "She yoused this effect!" and show the video everyone knows, people are going to think "I need to know this!". Further more, you'll have plenty of video ideas, that you can start produce. I hope you undestood, what I meant by that and please don't take this as some kind of hate. Really loved your style and charisma from the beginning on (I think you were at 20.000 subs).
Little additional thought i just got: My personal believe is, that a screenshot of min. 1:23 would be a great thumbnail. It says, that you should avoid something (which presents a potential viewer a problem) but doesn't tell too much about the video. Actually tells him almost nothing. But with the title, it all becomes clear and the viewer thinks "Oh, I need to know that, because I could have done something wrong the whole time." Again, really love your style (with the your blue brand colour. And the font is just 😍)
@@JavierMercedes you are very welcome. Btw. found an example on your own channel, where the thing with the thumbnail worked. Look at your video "Create a Basic 3D Screen Effect in Premiere Pro", or "End Song With Reverb Echo Effect - Premiere Pro" In the first video, you didn't use any face in the thumbnail. Just the effect itself in great popping colours. In the second video, you said "Try this" and explained what you meant in the title
It was so refreshing to have you get straight to the point and delivery such an awesome video! Thanks so much!
Hope this process helps when archiving or sharing your premiere pro projects!

Nope, cache is recreated on new machines upon opening.

heavy projects won't export, any solution?
why the video not foldered like in project bin in premiere pro? looking all the assets and videos in one folder looks cluttered.
I can’t see my sequence in project manager what do I do
Will it export effects from pr and projects from ae in a premiere sequence
I believe so, I show it exporting the ae project at the end of the video

Consolidate and transcode is including unused proxies from multicams even though I flattened the sequence
Does luts applied to adjustment layers also get copied?
