    The Steelers would play their final game against the Washington Redskins (Football Team now)
    Jerome Bettis would erupt for 100+ yds and the defense would swarm the ball for multiple turnovers in a 3-24 VICTORY.. The perfect way to end an historic run in an amazing stadium.
    Three Rivers Stadium would be where history set itself in stone. The Steelers truly became the Steelers in that beautiful bowl shaped classic stadium. A part of history, of which I never got to never experience.

    Thank you all so much for watching! I really missed watching these classic games! Content coming everyday! Stay tuned!
    Kordell really had potential to be a special all time player, it’s a shame to see him not fully pan out. One of my favorites! 🖤💛

      I really don't get what happened with Kordell. He had the talent and the skills and he played with a lot of heart.

    • @ItzYinzburgh
      @ItzYinzburgh  3 года назад +3

      @@gregorytaylor3146 It’s such a mentally tough position - They went through offensive coordinators after Chan Gailey left. Kordell’s best year was under Chan in 97’, of which, he also lost Yancey Thigpen.
      He had to deal with the seemingly revolving door of these guys
      98’ - Ray Sherman
      99’-00’ - Kevin Gilbride
      01’-03’ Mike Mularkey

      @@ItzYinzburgh Mentally and intestinally. Kordell had the fortitude. Losing a guy like Thigpen definitely hurt. I remember seeing those uneven years.

    • @brypete
      @brypete 3 года назад +1

      @@ItzYinzburgh Agreed, plus I feel the Steelers organization never really fully committed to Kordell as the guy. After all he was banned from QB meetings in 99 when they wanted Kent Graham to QB and Kordell to be Slash again. Which in my opinion was kinda crappy for a developing QB. Plus after the 97 season we lost so much on both sides of the ball and were clearly in rebuild mode. But most steelers fans couldn't recognize that and turned on Kordell with a quickness. Btw Charles Johnson and Courtney Hawkins were our #1 and 2 Wrs in the late 90s, and were clearly not #1 or 2 wrs.

    I too was at this game sitting up top under the overhang. Good thing cause it rained all day. What I remember most is when the 2nd half started I heard banging and clanging and the sound of socket sets. Everyone around us was unbolting the seats in anticipation of taking one or more home. I laughed and said to one guy "You're never getting out of here with that". His response was "Yeah? We'll see". After the game we got downstairs and never, in my life, have I seen so many cops and security personnel. They were grabbing everyone who had a "souvenir". It was ridiculous. Good time.

Stewart could have been so much more had he been given a chance. This team had so much 1st class talent. You could never count them out because they never gave up. My fav Bettis never disappoints. Slash probably gets overlooked in the scrambling QB discussion simply because he was better known for his true "Slash" days, before he became a full-time QB. Heck, I've followed the Steelers since 1969 and I tend to forget to think of him in that way.

    I remember watching the game while listening to Bill and Myron and Myron kept calling them the Wash Red Faces. He claimed that Daniel Snyder sent somebody to the booth to ask him to stop it. He didn't stop.
    Few other things. This was a Saturday afternoon game so the whole country watched. The Steelers started 0-3 but finished 9-7 and needed Indy to lose to make the playoffs but they didn't. With a few breaks and if officials didn't blow calls in two other losses (the league literally apologized for them) they could have been 13-3 (which they would do in 2001).
    The aforementioned Snyder was a new owner in the NFL and tried to make a splash by bringing in every big named player he could like Deion Sanders, Bruce Smith, Brad Johnson and others. They were still trash.

It was quite an experience to be involved in a chant of "Modell sucks" by 70k. Stadium seems a lot louder than heinz field.... I have lots of memories inside that stadium but my favorite would have to be everytime i saw Roberto in right field. I used to make my dad go early and buy general admission so we could be in the first row behind Roberto. I was only 7yrs old when it opened but that first time walking up those switch back ramps and getting the occasional glimpse of the field was like christmas morning to me. I had only been to a couple games at forbes field and barely remember them but three rivers stadium was like a shrine compared to it....plus taking the good ship lolly pop from the mom wharf was really cool.
