I just did a 2012 Sonata and it appears the same. I only removed the two big strut bolts, the shaft nut and the bracket bolts for the ABS sensor and brake line. No on removing caliper/rotor or tie rod end from knuckle or ABS sensor from knuckle. I did have to hit the shaft some with a small brass sledge to get it out of the hub spline. Do that with the big nut on it and then use a drift to drive it the rest of the way through.
Be careful when the knuckle assembly swings down not to have the ABS line or brake line hang up on anything. Stresses them. Otherwise they still have a little slack when rotor/hub fully swung down. I removed the plastic engine covers to pop shaft out of transmission but with enough fiddling I could have saved that step.
Tore my cv boot after doing a ball joint so I needed this to replace the part. Thank you for posting!

Use straight OEM NAPA Autozone and O’Reillys cannot get the CV axles correct because they always mess up just stay with OEM and you’ll be fine

No Grease wil make it harder to take out

I would recommend both but if its only one making the sound you can change just one and around 70 to 80 plus parts

Did you need the wheel alignment after the replacement?
It drove straight but I would recommend alignment after this job

Took it to the dealer, they said I need to replace both front axles, they’re charging a grand total of 1,350.00 USD. Good price?

Thanks guys. Denied the repair and bought each CV Axle for 120 each from auto zone and local mechanic installed them both for 160.
So my total was 400. Saved almost a thousand bucks !!

Never heard of an axle for this car being 80-100, mine are 60 on RockAuto.

There’s 4 axles in total for this model?
It is front wheel drive, so one cv axle on each side of the front
I have a small ticking noise when shifting into reverse and into drive, people are saying it’s a axle don’t know if you would know
Could be axle and it can be motor mount as well too also try and tighten the axle nuts first and see if that take care of the sound

No need to remove caliper if you are only changing the CV joint! Waste of time
