Ross got the idea for this video after seeing some photos with the "tilted camera" effect on steep streets. Since San Francisco is so hilly, it was the perfect city for this idea. The week before we filmed this, we ran all around San Francisco looking for steepest streets we could find (and gained some killer calve muscles).
The hardest part was coming up with ideas that made the gravity illusion look good - we tried lots of stuff that we thought would look good but didn't work for various reasons (balloons got blown away, pouring water wasn't visible enough on camera, moonwalking looked weird at an angle). Our favorite effect is the pendulum!

Here, ladies and gentlemen, are a group of San Francisco hipsters in their natural habitat. This breed of hipster has been around since the dawn of the hipster era and are still thriving in their environment which is an area perfect for breeding hipsters of all sorts of varieties. This breed seems a bit moderate on the hipster scale but are only a few chai lattes and Ray Lamontange albums away from full blown hipsteritis. Proceed with caution.
Peter Popoff I was a hipster before it was cool.
Peter Popoff Doesn't making eloquent and satirical jabs at other people make you a bit of a hipster?
Peter Popoff someones's jelly
Gimpasaurus touche'
VSilenceV jelly? really? Are you a 15 year old girl from 2005?
There are a ton of people in this comment section jealous of how much fun everyone was having in the video and how much creativity it took to create this.
***** so if i don't like mcdonalds; i'm jealous of ronald mac donald ? Waw u so shmaaaart.
georges lalio Didn't say that, and I also didn't say that applied to everyone. Waw u so shmaaaart.
***** i was kidding, you're not smart.
That was really cute. Nice job!
Very creative & tons of fun to watch! Thanks for sharing
Somewhere, OK Go is jealous for not thinking this up.
I find myself always coming back to this video whenever I feel down. I found this video when I was maybe 13 and now I'm 22. Always reminds me to stay calm and enjoy the little things in life. Blessing to you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I lived in SF for more than 20 years, and truthfully, your mind does play tricks on you, especially when you are driving up or down one of the steep hills, the brain will start to orient perceptions around the road and the vehicle you are driving in, and suddenly it looks like the buildings that are on an angle. This is a pretty good representation of that experience. Fun video!
it's really difficult to capture just how ridiculous the hills are. this does a pretty good job of it though :P
This was a lot of fun to watch. Great job!
If the houses are in the background my brain still says the sidewalk looks slanted even though its not.
Awesome video!
Ah, great memories of when I hiked these hills, growing up there, in the 1960s & 70s.
This is great! I would like to go to San Francisco someday...
Really enjoyed this. Technically, beautifully shot and edited, with smile-inducing soundtrack. Sweet-looking people having fun. Hooray. That kind of fearless enthusiasm is hard to resist. And I've always loved those hills in SF. I usually avoid the ones that have sidewalks with steps in them because that's positive proof that they really are too steep for trudging. BTW: Has anyone noticed how effortlessly little old ladies in Chinatown walk up and down Sacramento Street? Keep that heart going, Granny!
Okay so I don't know if this happened to anyone else but halfway through the video my eyes started to correct it to be slanted so it wasn't as trippy for me. the first few clips were cool though. My eyes are stupid! GOOD VIDEO!
Jordan Paul Yeah same thing, I guess our brains just adapt too quickly once we notice things aren't looking right.
oh my goodness, please upload more videos. I actually love them!!

You got a subscriber.
I live in San Francisco and those aren't friendly hills. I wouldn't want to carry groceries up those. Great fun video.
People who live in SF must be in really great shape tho
Hahaha, such an awesome video! Favorite part was at 0:55. :D
Ha! I have been walking up these hills for days while visiting! 😮💨 I should've made a music video!
Her pants tripped me out the most

Do small under powered econo type cars have trouble climbing the steep roads? Do you really floor it to get up?
Back when I used to live there, long ago, I had a car that couldn't drive up these hills. Fortunately, there were ways to drive around the blocks, to get to my destination.
Burger king kids club all grown up
Which editing softwares are used for this?
i lose the illusion when the camera is zoomed out too far, still a great idea
It's definately not a place for me, my handbrake linkage is broken, and I can't trust my gearbox neither, sometimes it pops back to neutral for no reason :D
😀
uhhh my brain hurts
Omg
This hurt my brain
But still it’s a great vid
How can u do that
