My dear Faye, Just for future reference. When you use CAT Scales you can re-weigh vehicle at a discounted rate, within the same day. When you get back on the scale and hit the button, tell the operator “reweigh”. They will ask for the scale ticket number on your previous ticket.
It's even easier than that in Florida. Here, all they asked me for was how much it weighed. Never wanted to see the trailer before I put it on the road
There's not a lot of content on walking you through the process of getting your homemade trailer legal. The "7M" is definately an omen and shows that this trailer will live a good life with many Supra's on it. 😁😁😁😁
What if you buy a utility trailer that is homemade off of someone from OfferUp and you don't have the receipts for everything that was put into it because the person who sold it to you doesn't have the receipts because the person that made it, his father, has passed away?
Great question! Get a bill of sale from the buyer to determine the value, estimate the approximate year it was built, and then you call your county office to schedule an inspection for it. You still have to get it weighed as well.
That’s so much easier then NJ. They made me jump through hoops to create a title for my trailer. Only to not give me the title because NJ is a no title state for trailers. Just a lot of bs for a simple thing. Now i register my trailer in Maine. Super fast and easy. Plus way cheaper.
Faye, I bought a home made trailer off offer up, it’s made out of a 94 Silverado truck bed. I’m trying to get it registered in comal county, but am really confused on what I need to bring to them.. any advice?
Thank you Faye for the information you provide. I just completed making a trailer out of an old pickup and with your help I can now get plates. Love you on the girls garage program. I also try to follow you on other programs. Thanks again, Herman from Waco.
Say i bought a harbor fright trailer from some one who has a title for it would i have to fill out title transfer paper? I ask because if thats the case then im not sure if its on the current owners name
Faye did I not tell you it was easy. But when you get in to bigger and heavier trailer like I do you will have to have to do a DOT inspection all the trailer I have made we're 3,500 lbs to 10,000 lbs trailers. I have even made a 16,000lbs trailer once never again cause that where you are getting in to US DOT and Texas DOT inspections and registrations
Is it the process the same if you buy a trailer and only get the bill of sale? And the trailer has plates but can you do this same process to register it under your name or idk to have your own plates on the trailer?
Thanks for sharing your experience. It is helpful because I am building a trailer in Austin. Did you stamp a serial number in your trailer and did they make and keep copies of the receipts or just look at them?
They just looked at the receipts, didn't make copies or keep them! And nope, didn't stamp the trailer, but I actually am going to make a little plate of my own and weld it on! I love this little trailer and want to make sure it doesn't get stolen!!
Thanks for the video. So, if i end up using parts of an old trailer because the frame was rusted. Can i still use the parts and register it as a homemade trailer if i make the frame myself? Thanks in advance.
This video was super helpful. I recently completed the build of a teardrop camper and was told it was going to be a nightmare to get it registered. I followed the steps in your video and it was a breeze at the tax office.
Thank you so much for making this video. Very helpful, I would like to let you know that you inadvertently revealed your plate number on the reg sticker at the top right on the reg sticker...... just a heads up
Does texas have the modification rule kinda of how some other states do even if its manufacturered trailer if you modify 40% of the trailer axles, wheels tires , and suspension. U can get titles easy .
Hey Faye, well, when I’m in Texas again I need to register a homemade trailer I will know exactly what to do.🙂 just kidding actually I find it interesting the differences between the states how they handle motor vehicle related things for instance, every state seems to have a different name for their ‘DMV’ here in Michigan it’s the Secretary Of State in Texas. It’s the DMV or tax office you said both hopefully you didn’t have to go to two different places, but I wouldn’t be surprised. The procedure to register a homemade trailer here is pretty much the same the only difference I see is we do have a dedicated trailer plate but it’s a one time thing no tab no renewal. It’s good for as long as you have the trailer that’s a plus they used to have tabs and you had to pay for them every year just like your vehicle plate I was shocked when they did that and I’m even more shocked that they haven’t gone back to charge more money, anyways have a great one as always🐔🐔🐔👍
note on determining the weight of your trailer, if you dont know, go to any truckstop where there's a certified CAT scale, pay 13 bucks and you'll have your weight for your trailer (unladen weight). Had to get a cat scale ticket just to help fill out a required field on my car in order to get an exact weight for a title transfer. Wont disclose which state im in rn just for privacy reasons but all i can say is my origin state is in the name lol. Edit: Dang it, you beat me to it lol.
Idk where u get this but if you don't have any plates or registration in n Texas you have to get it inspected and wait for the title also pay up crazy fee for the title and it's a nightmare
Hey Faye! Love your videos on the MK3 Supra's. Wondering if you knew how to aquire an Idle Air Control Valve for the 7M-GTE engine? mine just cracked and all sites so far have discontinued the part. Look forward to more videos on your 7M builds!
Also next time you go to a scale and get a nessed up weight just ask for a reweigh when you drive back on the scale. You have to give them the number off the previous weight. But it should only be a few dollars extra.
I 2nd this I built a boat trailer for my skiff out a motorcycle trailer . I do need to buy new axles, wheels and suspension at this point I'm wondering if buying a used jet ski trailer with the title is a easier process
My dear Faye,
Just for future reference.

Nice info! Heck, in Alabama, where I am currently, you don't even need to register a light trailer at all. Now that's convenient!
Early Thursday video! Great information as always!
Good info Faye
Thanks for doing this
In theory, how would this process work if you harvested your own materials, and did not pay for anything?
im glad we are back to pointing at faye :)
Congrats on getting plates for your homemade trailer!
Thank you so much 😀
Great video 👍
Simple math 🤓 👽in training 🤭
Faye is from Texas.!? I had no idea!!! No wonder she's so cool.
It's even easier than that in Florida. Here, all they asked me for was how much it weighed. Never wanted to see the trailer before I put it on the road
7M?! The universe is talking! How’s the Supra project coming along? 👍
Thank you for the info. I'm thinking about getting a harbor freight trailer but it might be a crappy trailer right out of the box.
Funny u tried to hide you plate numbers but that sticker still gives it away
Was this home made trailer ? Or trailer with lost title and registering as home made now with bill of sale from previous owner ?
There's not a lot of content on walking you through the process of getting your homemade trailer legal. The "7M" is definately an omen and shows that this trailer will live a good life with many Supra's on it. 😁😁😁😁
Love it !

I got my utility trailer registered today. Thanks for the video. I followed all of your instructions.
Queen of Pixies ❤
do a 1st weigh and then you can reweigh at catscale and its like 3dlls . give em the number on ur scale ticket.
What if you have a home made one that was given to you for free do you think it would be as easy???
Why does everyone say getting plates for a trailer in Texas is an absolute nightmare? This seems super simple. Thanks Faye!
That’s so much easier then NJ. They made me jump through hoops to create a title for my trailer. Only to not give me the title because NJ is a no title state for trailers. Just a lot of bs for a simple thing.

Similar process here in CO, except here a homemade trailer has to have a certified VIN inspection/roadworthiness inspection done by the State Patrol.
Yeah, It figures... you need a permit to get a a permit in Colorado.. lol
@@jeremyhart5029 But weed is legal.
Thank you ! Love ur videos
Hahaha wow that license plate is too good.
Hey Fey I’m a Texan and yeah I’ve built a homemade also and yeah it’s no problem getting your trailer tagged in Texas.
Where do you go?
Faye, I bought a home made trailer off offer up, it’s made out of a 94 Silverado truck bed. I’m trying to get it registered in comal county, but am really confused on what I need to bring to them.. any advice?
So receits are required?!! What if its homemade but not by the current owner?
I brought my trailer from another state where it didn't have to be registered. No bill of sale. Do I have to get a surety bond and VIN #?
Thank you Faye for the information you provide. I just completed making a trailer out of an old pickup and with your help I can now get plates. Love you on the girls garage program. I also try to follow you on other programs. Thanks again, Herman from Waco.

I take the harbor

Faye, one question! How much was the fee for the plates?
Hi everyone hope everyone is having a blessed day
Thanks for sharing your experience. It is helpful because I am building a trailer in Austin. Did you stamp a serial number in your trailer and did they make and keep copies of the receipts or just look at them?

Did they not make you take it to the anti theft officer first?
super helpful too bad I'm in Ohio
Thanks for the video. So, if i end up using parts of an old trailer because the frame was rusted. Can i still use the parts and register it as a homemade trailer if i make the frame myself? Thanks in advance.
Some state will go out and look the trailer over for safety as will. And did you get a vin number to put on it?
This video was super helpful. I recently completed the build of a teardrop camper and was told it was going to be a nightmare to get it registered. I followed the steps in your video and it was a breeze at the tax office.
The paperwork asks for a VIN
Thank you so much for making this video. Very helpful, I would like to let you know that you inadvertently revealed your plate number on the reg sticker at the top right on the reg sticker...... just a heads up
If you are sensitive about showing your license plate number, you might want to blur it out on the sticker.
I just watched another video and the guy said it was a nightmare to get a vin number for his trailer

do you have vids about service for 2005- 1st gen tundra- 4.7 L?

Think of all of the junk Faye can haul home from the junkyard on her trailer!
Oh just you wait!! I'm about to create an entire junkyard where my lawn should be 😁
Fascinating.
For future reference, you can get a reweight as long as you get your first weight ticket, then it costs like $2 for the second ticket
Not at the place that I went. I tried reasoning with them but they were unreasonable.
@@FayeHadley call CAT scale and complain about that location. They are not supposed to refuse a reweigh in the same day as the first weigh
The Bill of Sale or Receipts you need are not to prove you built it, that is to "prove" you did not steal it
What is 7M?
I'm wondering too. 🤔
It’s a motor produced by Toyota and was often used in Toyota’s Supra line……
Thank You
❤❤❤❤
Hey Faye 🙂 What a bonus getting the 7M at the end of the Plate! 👍
Could you tell me the meaning of 7M for her?
2nd weigh should have been a reweigh
I don’t get the 7M reference ??
Nest time on the second weigh tell them it is a reweigh. that is only a couple bucks.
Followed your exact steps and was able to get tags today thank you so much
😎🍺👍🇦🇺
Yasssss. All is right with the world again!
Also next time you go to a scale and get a nessed up weight just ask for a reweigh when you drive back on the scale. You have to give them the number off the previous weight. But it should only be a few dollars extra.
What's the significance of "7M
What if im making a homemade trailer out of used parts from other junk trailer parts? Some rv parts, some utility trailer parts, some car parts.
I 2nd this I built a boat trailer for my skiff out a motorcycle trailer . I do need to buy new axles, wheels and suspension at this point I'm wondering if buying a used jet ski trailer with the title is a easier process
....or...become ungovernable...
Miss Faye... miss your tutorials
