Very good video on Hawkeye. The hero, as well as this series, isn't something id usually think about, being more into anime and not really into comics. However you really managed to break it down and sell it to me. Good video and keep it up.
Thankfully Matt fraction made this when he did which ironically paralleled the MCU having Hawkeye in Avengers in the same year which led to now allowing us to get the Hawkeye show. Even though it’s only based on this comic I know it’ll be difficult to mess such an iconic comic story up in the show unless Marvel gets too greedy and focus only on setting up future MCU events. It’s gonna be interesting to see how they make Clint similar to this comic as our MCU Hawkeye is less a screw up but rather someone suffering from heavy emotional trauma from the snap and losing Natasha but so far the show is freaking hilarious and for sure the funniest marvel show we’ve gotten by far. My favorite scene was when Hawkeye was tied up talking to the tracksuit mafia and arguing about who “the guy” is with Clint saying “Kate bishop is not guy” lmao
Unique art? That work is dripping with Mazzuchelli's influence unlike anything I've seen short of Mazzuchelli's work itself. Can anyone say, 'Batman: Year One'?
Hi Matt, loved the video. Have you read Jeff Lemire's run on Green Arrow? It was running around the same time as Fraction's run on Hawkeye. Although very different, I loved Lemire's run on Green Arrow. If you find it interesting as well, please do a video on that I would love to hear your take on it
also very interestingly, jeff lemire's run on hawkeye was after his green arrow run and matt fraction's run. jeff lemire's run on hawkeye is a great ending to the kate and clint partnership, that started with fraction's run.
Picked this one up from the library while on vacation thanks to your suggestion. It was a summer when I also picked up Alias by Bendis and Neil Gaimans "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?" Hawkeye vol. 1 was the one I read twice. When I got home I bought all four volumes. Last night I read them all. In short, this is a damn good and very creative run. While I personally think it shines its brightest when Aja draws, it is never "bad" (although I didn't care much for vol. 3, L.A. Woman. Not that Kate is a bad character on her own, it just felt so weird compared to the more grounded apartment-building story or the espionage bit of "The tape", so that put me off. Also, what's with the overuse of silhouettes in annual #1? It doesn't look stylish, it looks lazy!). It's always good, but when Aja draws it goes from good to great! Those are my favourite parts and the ones I will come back and re-read this book for. Thank you for recommending this.
Looks great. I stopped reading comics at a point where Hawkeye was married to Mockingbird and leading the West Coast Avengers, so this is pretty much unrecognizable to me. Nevertheless it does look really good and I'd love to check it out. Time to start collecting again?
Its weird ..i was born in the 90's..but....when i was born isnt really the issue...if you go back and read Avengers comics from The 80's and 90's hawkeye is one of the most likeable characters. The closest on screen analogue of a character like that is something like dean winchester on supetnatural....kind of a devil may care type character....i think jeremy renner was perfect casting....but really under written and under utilised. Hawkeye should be the character the audiences resonate with the most.....we are hawkye.the average joe riding around on hellcariers with gods and monsters
i like the lemire run as the ending to the kate and clint partnership. also his run on hawkeye is like the unspoken trilogy of modern hawkeye: starts with fraction's run, then lemire's run, and ending it with kelly thompson's run.
This was well made video that develed in detail why Fractions run on Hawkeye good. While I agree Clint as a character is flawed and Fraction did a great job making a very down to earth story. New fans seem for the most part to overrate this series. mind you I grew up on 70's and 80's Clint Barton. I just found that in this series Clint is made out too be this idiot who gets lucky by having everyone around him have their shit together. That is not the case in the history of Clint. One thing in terms of writing Clint's character that Fraction got right was his self doubt and depression that he deals with The aftermath of the work he does. This was a series to bring Kate into the lime light, Fraction and the team did a wonderful job at the expense of making Clint look like a tool for the most part. While I get this is a Hawkeye story for a new generation. I am not going agree that this is the greatest Hawkeye series. This was a great comic series to bring Kate out. This series is the Final Fantasy 7 of the Hawkeye franchise. Good but not the Greatest.

I just read through this series recently while in covid lockdown lol, all of this is still so true
These books and Jeremy Renner are why Clint is my favourite super hero
This is one of my favourite comic series.
I want a hAwkeye Netflix series now!!
Good news, one is coming to disney plus and its based on this comic
This Comic Book Series should be made into a Netflix Series.
Its coming to Disney plus now
Agreed it still holds up
Loved this analysis
Just announced at SDCC!
All your videos are awesome!!
Fun spotlight :)
Unique art? That work is dripping with Mazzuchelli's influence unlike anything I've seen short of Mazzuchelli's work itself. Can anyone say, 'Batman: Year One'?
Y’just snap your fingers real hard has a whole new meaning now.
Bro. Seriously. Great video, bro.
Seriously. Bro.
Picked this one up from the library while on vacation thanks to your suggestion.
It was a summer when I also picked up Alias by Bendis and Neil Gaimans "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?"
Hawkeye vol.
I'm new to your channel and I've only see two videos so far, this one and the Moon Knight one and now I REALLY want to read these two series
Great Comic! Great Video! Keep Going!
Haven't read it yet. The art reminds me of Daredevil's Born Again.
aw good storytelling, you are great
aw good storytelling with a deaf character, you are greaat
aw arrow that's on me
This man must be happy right now

Now that is a good boy.
Can't wait for HAWKEYE
Great video
I believe I'm the first person who ended up here, with a comment, after watching the Hawkeye trailer :-)
Shit I'm late
Cool video!! Hawkeye should have his own team. The Arrow tv show developed a team around Green Arrow. The MCU can do the same for Clint Barton.
Nah the team thing would take too much screen time from hawkeye
I've read this shit twice. Getting ready for the third time.
Ah I love this comic so much ♥ ❤ 💖 😍 💕
This was my first comic
Thank you
I prefer when he was leader of the West Coast Avengers or the Thunderbolts.
This comic is masterpiece
GREAT VIDEO
Got to love when a character defines themselves by an outdated weapon with limited ammo!
Looks great. I stopped reading comics at a point where Hawkeye was married to Mockingbird and leading the West Coast Avengers, so this is pretty much unrecognizable to me. Nevertheless it does look really good and I'd love to check it out. Time to start collecting again?
Hawkeye: My comic is great.
Green Arrow: Hold my Quiver.
Your videos don't get enough credit man
Whats the best Printing for Hawkeye #1 comic money and cover wise.
Can I still buy this in 2021 may??? I live in Denmark Copenhagen
Whats your opinion of Jeff Lemire's hawkeye? I read both runs together because Lemire's was labeled 5 and 6. I liked it but not as much as Fraction's.
Danny Hoffman I feel the same. It's a solid continuation, but it's lacking the spark that this run had.
i like the lemire run as the ending to the kate and clint partnership. also his run on hawkeye is like the unspoken trilogy of modern hawkeye: starts with fraction's run, then lemire's run, and ending it with kelly thompson's run.
Aja’s style reminds me of Mazzucchelli.
Will you ever do a video on scott Snyder's run of batman?
Valerio Definitely! I'm considering how to approach it, but I think the first video to touch on it will be about The Black Mirror.
Would you do a video of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns?
It will definitely happen. Probably sometime in the next few months.
That's okay, Matt. I understand. Keep up the good work.
Good video.. bro
This art is amazing
5:39 What does "welltha" mean?
I was really excited about the adaptation but I guess that's not happening anymore.
The name CLINT must be tough on letterers.
