don't, it's only "working" because of the wet look, it's greasy, it doesnt remove the scratches, just hides them. if you want to remove scratches, only polish can help
Please don't be like him and use a paper towel on your car's paint, it will scratch it. The reason the scratches went away was because they were clear coat scratches. When the oil dries up you'll see a ton more scratches because he rubbed the dirt in with the paper towel, and I don't know why you'd clean your car with WD-40 anyway..
Yes, the WD40 fills just the scratches. You will see them again after a while. Also, do not rub in circular motions, because those scratches are harder to remove than straight scratches.
He was removing the white paint from the other car rather than filling scratches in his black paint. It just stripped the scratches back to the clear coat.
Interesting video on WD40. I was told 30 years ago (pre internet) WD stands for Water DIsplacement. This is why it worked on the cotton balls. It was supposedly invented for the US Army in WWII to spray on ignition wires and distributors on jeeps. Water causes problems with the distributor caps. As for your car finish, you basically removed the loose scratched paint particles (plus any paint from the other object, do not assume it was a car) and applied a film over it, hiding the blemish. Few scratches in paint are rarely the same color as the paint. You would not see them if the same color, right? What happened the next time you tried to wax the bumper? Still enjoyed the video. Lighter Fluid is also good at removing glues and crayon without damaging the surface and unlike WD40 will not leave a residue.

Whoa there, lol. WD-40 is just a brand name. Not every can of WD-40 is the same product. You've got the classis anti-rust spray and a silicon spray, to name just two. You should have mentioned that you used the silicone spray on those shoes and not the anti-rust spray. Wouldn't want people to think that they can spray and destroy their shoes with the anti-rust WD-40 spray.
Many of these tricks actually look pretty neat. The only thing I worry about is that WD-40 leaves an oily residue that might be quite problematic e.g. on those ceramic tiles shown in the first part of the video.

Whoa there, lol. WD-40 is just a brand name. Not every can of WD-40 is the same product. You've got the classis anti-rust spray and a silicon spray, to name just two. You should have mentioned that you used the silicone spray on those shoes and not the anti-rust spray. Wouldn't want people to think that they can spray and destroy their shoes with the anti-rust WD-40 spray.

Many of these tricks actually look pretty neat. The only thing I worry about is that WD-40 leaves an oily residue that might be quite problematic e.g. on those ceramic tiles shown in the first part of the video.

BTW ... Gum can be more easily removed by ice (the gum melts and comes off). If Windows are foggy, shaving gel works better... And WD40 does not fix car scratch- wash the car and the scratch is back again. :|
