    Alloy wheels are exposed to the elements and all sorts of dirt and road grime. WD-40 Multi-Use Product protects metal from rust and corrosion, penetrates stuck parts, displaces moisture and lubricates almost anything…and cleans up alloy wheels a treat! Simply spray on a clean, soft cloth and rub over. For more stubborn dirt and grime, use a brush or apply more pressure to remove. Don’t Spray on Brakes....

    most of these "brilliant ideas" are actualy what wd40 is made for.. nothing brilliant about lubricating a door hinge with a product that is made to do this. same with the bike foot stand. and please be very carefull using this on your wheels.. you do not want a lubricant on your brake disk...

    • @alanbrown397
      @alanbrown397 7 лет назад +10

      Lubricating any hinge with WD40 is a silly idea. The hinge is almost guaranteed to fail a few months later. WD40 is not a lubricant, it's a penetrating/cleaning oil and you should always folllow up with a real oil afterwards.
      WD = "water displacer" - it's good for rust protection. That's what it was created for.
      One thing it's _BRILLIANT_ for is graffiti prevention - wipe down metal shutters or other surfaces with it. As well as preventing oxidation, the remaining oil film means any sprayed graffiti will simply wipe off the surface.

    • @Markdmarque
      @Markdmarque 7 лет назад

      WD40 is not actually designed as a permanent lubricant in most circumstances. It is water displacement (WD).Too light a lubricant for lots of things and actually no good for most lubrication as it dissolves the thicker grease that was originally on the item to be lubricated. Window hinges get worse!

  • @jonjeys1

    WD also does a fantastic job on black plastic car trim such as bumpers (fenders for you Americans) better than more expensive products like "Back to Black". And it lasts too! I tried it on my 1984 Vauxhall Astra trim which was all faded and knackered and it made it look like new!

    The WD-40 is petrol based oil. Does it damage rubber and plastic?

      You are right Don’t spray on Brake. you can use WD on alloy wheels for Remove carbon Dust.

      任峰 Billy CHENG 鄭 Alloy wheels are exposed to the elements and all sorts of dirt and road grime. WD-40 Multi-Use Product protects metal from rust and corrosion, penetrates stuck parts, displaces moisture and lubricates almost anything…and cleans up alloy wheels a treat! Simply spray on a clean, soft cloth and rub over But Don’t Spray on Brakes.

      It depends on the type of plastic it is sprayed on. It can, and will contribute to premature wear of some plastics and rubbers.

    WD40 is a penetrant not a lubricant so yes good to clean things but never use it as an oil

      I AM NOVA the stock brakes that come on a street car from the factory are not carbon you would have to purchase aftermarket pads

    • @GrimYak
      @GrimYak 7 лет назад

      I AM NOVA and where did you get that from? Modern brakes are composite materials, the only ones running carbon rotors are the very expensive hypercars and racecars.
