I closed a bedroom door, and the inside lock activated, and I couldn't get back inside😅. Whoever installed them over tightened it and couldn't unscrew it SMH.

The knob came off on its own, lol. I could grip the gold part better and twist it off. The inside part fell off on the other side 😅. I would have just forced it open eventually. Luckily, I didn't have to. Hope you got in 😊
thankyou! I went through eight other videos before finding this one, but all the other videos had doorknobs with a pinhole, whereas my doorknobs are exactly like in this video - no screws or pinhole. Now i'll finally be able to get some WD40 in them!

Omg. I finally found how to fix the doorknob that kept falling off. We couldn't work out how to take the cover off. Thanks for showing your expertise. Now we'll know how to take them off when ready to upgrade them as well 👍🏻

To those having a trouble to remove these gold plate, I found a solution and work for me, wearing the Washing up glove , those rubber ones , which provide more grip. And this solution is contributed by the Bunnings help forum. And this kind of door knob has its proper name called Gainsborough door knob.

Had to unscrew both caps then take off plate tighten bolts before placing back into door hole to tighten screws and fix other side. Wouldn't of been able to do this though without knowing how to take the original plate off. Thank you!

Any ideas if the plates are frozen? I was able to unscrew the closet but the bathroom door one ain’t moving! I don’t think wd40 would work here…as the threads are deep inside the center and I wouldn’t be able to get any spray to it.
I just figured it out with a hammer and flat head screw driver. Tried some WD but it obviously didn’t get to the thread that was being tough. I got lucky with banging gently on the side that moves first go so the door isn’t damaged at all. Did you end up figuring it out!?
Thanks, had a loose door knob but couldn't figure out where the mechanism to get backplate off was, just had to leverage it in screw holes and turn clockwise so seeing this helped
