I’m with you!!! I just got turbo o Erik lo last night, and quake 2 updated for free on release day. I haven’t played the rott remaster yet but I’ll get to it. I know it’s not new but I got dusk and blood fresh supply recently too, I’m loving it so much, I have a shit laptop but I’d rather play these games on lower settings than anything on my console. And doom wads, of course doom wads.
haven't finished the game yet myself, but I agree with everything said in this review. such a great underrated gem, one of the best single player shooters to rival the greats.
This game is so excellant, I’m kinda surprised it hasn’t blown up sort of like boltgun did. I guess it did just come out fully, maybe it will get more hype over time. The fact it’s made by one dude apparently blows my mind.
@@BreakOutOfYourTrance I agree, I like it and I own it, but I played threw it once and that was kindof that, I haven’t had a itch to play it since release. I think the hype was a bit much, not a bad game, but not that good either.
The difference is in how much money was spent on advertising. A one-man-band developer will never be able to market as efficiently as a massive company like GW
This game is beyond amazing, having never heard of it before past weekend I saw it recommended and knew immediately I was going to love it as a huge classic shooter fan and i also loved doom eternal so this was the perfect mix. Add in the actually solid story/world/fantastic music and you have one of the best games I have played in years all for a tiny price. Its crazy after the last few months playing absolute garbage like diablo 4 a game that costs a fraction of the price is so much more fun.
Good to see you back Kirk, also I've been waiting for the full release, now that its here I can binge TF out of this game... not really though maybe I'll do like one episode a day so I don't wear myself out on it, in any case its a great game.
Thank you for the review! I already liked the demo that was put out last year during steam next fest and decided to invest into early access but wait for the full release. Also KIRK, I don't know if this is already on your radar, but if you enjoy this type of gameplay, DEFINITELY check out Deadlink (out now) and the upcoming title SPRAWL (releasing August this year).
From the beginning, even before the demo, the game looked like it was made for me, FPS with cool abilities (such as the chainsaw leg) in cyberpunk themed universe. Then the demo came, and it was everything i hoped for. The full release was my number one anticipated title, and it delivered. Hands down, my personal GOTY, the fun zone is strong with this one. And it is essentially made by one dev, amazing.
This game is so good, I find excuses to play a couple levels through my day. The movement is so good, the guns are awesome too. It's up there with Prodeus for me !
Gribblesnap only composed a bit of the soundtrack, i dont remember the names of the people who did the majority of the OST but i thought you should know :)
oh? I must have misremembered some things in a discussion on the developer's server then, my mistake. Additionally Jeron from Apogee mentioned of doing separate albums for each episode which may or may not leave the indication of Gribblesnap's track(s) to be included in the near future. leaving this message here as reference to the "separate albums" mention above [1:53 PM] Jeron - Apogee: @everyone including @notsad - if your favorite track is missing, chilllllll 🙂 I’m doing complete separate albums for each episode that have everything, and then there will be a Deluxe Edition with everything. There’s probably 4 1/2 hours of music total to be had. It’s on the schedule.
Does turbo overkill launch on all platforms tomorrow or just pc? I have pc but I'd like it on my switch as well, since I'm still waiting on amid evils switch release.
The only big honest flaw I'd give the game but it isn't even that bad is the level editor. I'm someone who often uses level editors in games and imo the best level editor from any game is Prodeus because it's not too complex but not too simple and has ALOT you can do. I feel comparatively, Turbo Overkills map editor is alot more limited compared to Prodeus. But then again maybe I'm having way too high expectations, I just really hope they up the game's level editor
This game is ridiculous in all the best ways ive played for 3 hours today and I havent had this much fun with a game in a long time its basically doom meets cyberpunk turned up to 11
I played this game through Christmas once. And goddamn this game rocks HARD. This game puts ULTRAKILL to shame honestly because not just graphical stuff that Wadaholic managed to pull off compared to Hakita. But also the shit you can pull off in Turbo Overkill is straightforward but also absurd when executed.
Incredible game. 10/10. However, I'm not sure if my game is functioning incorrectly, but there is very little going on sound wise. No footsteps, barely hear the chainsaw, very little sound apart from guns even with music turned down. Is this normal?
Hey there, man from four months ago. Here to tell you that *no,* that is not normal. It kinda sounds like your headphones may or may not have been plugged in all the way, who knows.
Honestly, the game from what I've seen kind of looks like Ultrakill but without the worst part of Ultrakill. I'm a sucker for theming, from Blood's 1920s horror aesthetic to the neon cyberpunk dystopia of Ion Fury and Ultrakill's levels always just felt so visually and structurally boring to me. Certainly more Quake and classic Doom than, say, the Build games. This seems to absolutely fix that, with the tone and setting.
Just finished it, overall it's a blast albeit a bit too easy at times. If I were to change anything, I'd rearrange episode 3 a bit, the last two levels ( no spoilers) felt very similar to each other, basically just a shitton of enemies in arenas with the boss
Turbo overkill is great, but I absolutely hated the final boss. Such a letdown, especially considering how great all the others were. And the upgrade system just felt like an excuse to pimp out my chainsaw leg, which was fine by me
After 15 years of lead characters that wont stop talking for 1 second id take a silent protagonist any day. Its not a "trope" either its just a design choice like anything these classic shooters dont need a lead character talking non stop it lets you emerse yourself in that character yourself any way you want.
Upon closer inspection of the artwork I dont think its ai art, and I want to once again apologize to Kirk and the developers/ artist aswell, this video and the game are people's hardwork, and my original comment is very disrespectful.
Turbo Overkill, Quake 2 Remastered, RotT Remastered... A fantastic month for FPS fans. Thanks for the great review, Kirk!
There's also a game called SPRAWL coming out this month too, looks very sick
@@SaimizZ Is it coming in Early Access or full release? I didn't follow it closely
On the 18th also releases Amid Evil: The Black Labyrinth.
Also Echo Point Nova from Greylock Studio which made Severed Steel , and Witchfire from The Astronauts studio which made Painkiller

Hell yes! Played only 9hrs and decided to wait for the full release. Can't wait to check it out tomorrow.
Just need to give a shoutout to devs for putting out a playable demo, not enough games do that any more.
Yeah, it's what made me buy the game. Same with Inscryption, which I also highly recommend

I'm an avid ultrakill enjoyer and this looks right up my alley
One of the best shooters i ever played. Gave me a gamegasm more than once.

I'm currently playing Deadline and am super hyped for SPRAWL, that is definitely up my alley.
Well, I know what FPS I'll be playing in between Baldur's Gate 3. Thanks for the review! This one somehow flew under my radar until now.
Funny you should say that, I've been player BG3 in between Turbo Overkill lol
It's coming to Switch. Can't wait.
This game is so Turbo it makes you want to Overkill.
Fuuuuuck yes 1.0!!!!!
This game is absolute Retro FPS caviar and it deserves to be seen for the achievement that it is

Gribblesnap only composed a bit of the soundtrack, i dont remember the names of the people who did the majority of the OST but i thought you should know :)
Oh damn. Thanks for the heads up!
Chipper Hammond, Tim Stoney and Nikola Jeremic (Gribblesnap) were the musical geniuses behind this game. They've definitely outdone themselves.
@@7Csfx Nikola Jeremic is not Gribblesnap, none of his work is on the official OST for some reason

Just PC for now, there's no word yet on when the console releases are coming. I'm curious how they turn out.

10:00 Of course it has a bullet-time mode, every first person shooter should have one. ⏳👍
