There are two types of people: Ones, obsessed with getting likes and recognition by the easy way and the minimum effort copying ideas or videos that always end up sounding the same. BUT, thanks god there are still people like you that are not afraid or lazy to leave their comfort zone, deal with the unknown and share it with others. This type of people that prefers to be the tail of a lion to the head of a mouse, and that really invest time to find new things, (not so obvious things). Thank you so much for pushing us to discover new things and go beyond the basics. Thank you so much for being this kind of people.
i want to add, after listening more i really feel the Beads is doing something to the sound. there is some slight artefacts. really lush can it save some samples as a preset ? cheers
Killing it with these videos. Clear, well paced demos with great musical ideas but most of all just capturing the sheer fun of playing around with this stuff. Beads wasn’t on my list until I watched this, now I’m trying to figure out how I might be able to make room for one :)
Really love this! Beautiful sounds, and you make it look so effortless. That final jam is just sublime. I don’t have Beads but did pick up Monsoon/Clouds recently so going to see if I can do the same sort of thing. Thanks for another pure belter! 😀
@@noahtottenI just spent a very happy half an hour playing around with it! :) You can definitely do *kinda* similar things but the main difference is the maximum grain size is much shorter on Clouds/Monsoon - it's 1 second on Clouds vs 4 seconds on Beads, I think. So it's fine for short stabby chords but you're a wee bit limited when it comes to longer pads. You can get some lovely sounds by whacking the Density and Texture right up to sow lots of 'smeared' grains - it's a different sort of effect but can sound very cool, especially when you throw in a bit of subtle modulation and bathe it in a bit of reverb...
@@TheUnperson I did! See my reply to Noah above - the max grain size is the main difference, so it's not quite the same but still pretty cool. It does work pretty well for the rave stab vibes though :)
Splendid! Thanks a lot for this, cannot wait to have the Beads in my rack. Wasn't happy with the Clouds at all, but Beads seems so much better. Btw you are a very good teacher!
Hey - I'm not really sure why your Beads is acting that way. You should be getting sound every time the seed input is triggered. Do you have the microbrute gate out going into seed? Also what is the sound source that you are freezing?
Great video, thank you 🙏 I wonder if you can sample multiple shorter samples this way and use the time control when beads is frozen to scrub through the buffer and select your sample
Lovely as always mate! You make me wanna get Beads even more instead of Data Bender haha :D did you ever try to get glitchy sounds from Beads? Do you think you can maybe compare those with Data Bender? Would be so cool! Cheers :)
I've got some decently data bender-y sounds from beads, but It required a couple sequencer channels (would also work with negatively offset gates) for octave and forward/backward switching. So doable, but it will take some patching.
@@goblinpiper Hey man! Thanks for the reply! Sounds very nice :) do you happen to have an example? Or some more in depth patch notes? Would be very glad about them :D
@@r1p413 yea I'm doing something glitchy with beads in my 'looptober day 8' video. Patch notes might be not too useful because I'm using teletype to generate precise voltages, but generally, I have CV quickly, randomly jumping between -3 and 3v patched into 'size' and also fast random CV jumping between -1, 0 and 1v patched to pitch. Then I am triggering grains using the seed input using a random trigger. Shape is all the way CCW for maximum glitch. This way I get grains of my original audio playing randomly forwards or backwards, an octave up or down.

Thank you man! This is my favourite comment :D!
really excellent, you're doing Beads justice
I love how distracted you got by the dance plucks. that's what modular is about haha
Cheers man... that's why i love modular!!
its proper movie score vibes, amazing

My heart skipped a beat at 14:35 with the downtuning of that pad. My god it's beautiful
Thanks for your Beads videos. There’s a lot of inspiration in them for me!
One of my favorite You Tube channels!! Awesome vid.
So inspiring! Can't wait to try a similar patch, as I just received my Beads today.
Beautyfull :)
Really happy I found your channel!
Happy to hear it! ☺️

cheers man! And sorry for adding Beads to your GAS list lol
I've been struggling with Beads but this video gives me the ideas to make some progress. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers man. When I first got beads I really struggled getting anything good from it ~ I’m liking it a lot more these days
Wow, that was really really REALLY good.
haha thank you! :D

Have you tried it yet? I have a monsoon too but haven’t played with the buffer freeze much
Cheers man!! Did you give it a go with Monsoon/Clouds?

that was beautiful and very helpful. thank you!
thank you! :)
beads seems to be one of the highest value modules. So much functionality when iut comes to soundshaping in one module
Agreed - and I still feel like I'm only scratching the surface!
Great video! Thank you and please keep doing them.
Thank you! :D
Man, you're good at it. Great sounds, insights, vibes. Inspirational, thanks and bravo !
Thank you! :)
Excellent
Incredibly sounds and great explanation. I will be attempting something like this soon.
cheers man, glad you enjoyed it! :D
Great demo!
Just picked up a Beads for £150 really looking forwards to trying this, it’s lovely!
Really nice and clear demo!

Not happy w clouds? Hmm 🤔. I don’t think
It’s clouds tho.
from Ghost in the shell to Patlabor vibes, that was sweet sweets to my ears ! :)
I've never heard of Patlabor before - might watch it tonight!
@@TheUnperson ;)
Love the piece at the end. Sounds awesome.
Its quite a remarkable video. Such beautiful sounds.
I can make it work with the gate but not the first part :)

Great video and sounds, enjoyable watch.

Yes!
great video, thanks a lot!
yes! loved this. Quality sounds and no fuss. Bravo!
Chees man! Big fan of your music here :D
Can I ask about the module between the Pico and the Z5000, and its role here?
Intellijel uVCF - in the video it's a low pass filter.
@@marcbsounds Thank you
Love this !!! 💕👏… A Veritable sonic mutation station !!👍👏
Cheers man!!
top tip!
This was interesting, thanks for sharing your experiences.
CHeers!
Excellent - thanks for this
cheers!
how comes you have polyphony?
Well this was great but your tea’s gone cold mate.
Great video, thank you 🙏 I wonder if you can sample multiple shorter samples this way and use the time control when beads is frozen to scrub through the buffer and select your sample
I've actually been messing about with a similar thing recently. Might do a video about it next since I'm on the beads discovery path atm!

I can confirm that Beads can absolutely do glitchy! Beads glitch vid coming soon :D
@@TheUnperson thanks man, love it! Will probably become my first module (apart from input/output) :D
Nice! Can you do this with Mojave?
Do you have another modular system?
I did have a bigger Doepfer case in the past but sold it for a smaller set-up
Fun One
cheers!
Hyper Light Driftin
Absolutely! :D
