I noticed you didn't run you d log footage through the dji transcoding program? Is there a reason for this? My video looks absolutely awful if I don't run it through the transcoding before grading. I'd love to be able to skip that step though as it's extremely time consuming. Thanks!
You are so talented with this. I'm still stuck with iMovie for now. Thinking about FCPX, but I need a faster computer first. You're doing a great job Brian.
Buongiorno complimenti x i suoi video tutorial ben fatti e molto intuitivi ...vorrei un informazione ho un dji osmo la prima serie ecco vorrei sapere il time lapse in full HD è possibile oppure soltanto Sd 1280x720?
Nice video! The Osmo D-LOG looks like it can handle a lot of grading and still hold together? The D-LOG looks similar to my JVC LS-300 J-LOG as in that it’s a minor Log and easily manipulated in spite of it being 8 bit and fairly compressed. I may have to get a Osmo + Z Axis to work together with my JVC LS300 shooting J-LOG. Do you have ungraded D-Log files to download to grade on my own system to see how much I can push Osmo video files? Thank you.
When I click on the wheel icon, I don't get the same settings as you do on this video. It doesn't give me an option for 4K. When I click on the camera icon, it gives me an option for 4K bu doesn't allow me to select it. What's different?
Hello i used 50 Fps with Full HD why do you say i can only use 30 Fps with my Mavic Air i use 50 Fps too so i thought when i combine a movie of the two i use the same Fps for both.
Hi Bryan, thanks for your review, i already got one. But there is something may be you can help me with, when i used my iPhone 6, with the dji go app, the orientation can be change whether its portrait or landscape, but when i switched to my iPad, the orientation stays at landscape, even though the orientation button is unlock. may be you can help. thanks.
love it! Anything about white balance settings? I film mostly in homes and lighting is a hit or miss depending on interior lights and time of day. Any suggestions? I got the LUT for final cut pro which I think will help a ton!!!
Ok so I get you point at shooting in NTSC so that I get 4K at 30fps. So what are the negatives. Note Im in UK. My limited understanding is the PAL and NTSC are TV settings. Does this mean I won't be able to play video on home TV??? Love your videos watched them all now and now going for a rewatch as my Osmo arrives tomorrow!
Thanks ! To be honest, I use either NTSC and PAL in the UK and can play either on my TV (Samsung) and seems to have no visible change to youtube videos we upload. As long as you obey the shutter speed = 1/twice the frame rate (or multiples thereof) you'll be fine.
I've noticed NEW values now for contrast (maybe there was a fw update?) now they seem to be a number between 0 and 255? what should the equivalent setting be (-3) thanks.
No worries Graham, Yes , it appears this scale changed with one of the fw updates. All you need to do is dial the contrast all the way down to 253 or as low as it'll go. Just keep tapping the - button. We don't really need the Osmo to apply any contrast as the LUTs and post production color grading will have a far greater control when applying contrast and give us more creative flexibility.
can you help me I was using canon 5D and Osmo, how to balance color osmo and 5D? coz I wanna make them both collor close enough do you have pictures stye recomendation thanks
There is no magic bullet solution to match the colors from 2 or more different colors and I often find the only way is to match the colors by direct trial and error either starting with a LUT or using some other color grading effects. You just eyeball the comparison and try and get them as close as possible.
+Siegfried Brosch I'm not sure about Pinnacle Studio 18 and above. Does anybody know if a .cube color grading LUT will work with Pinnacle Studio 18? Please leave us an answer below. thanks in advance!
+alessandro basilico This all depends on the stylistic look you’re after and the general rule is that if you set a fast shutter speed, this tends to freeze action and may result in jittery looking footage whereas if the shutter speed is slow, it can create an effect called “motion blur”, where moving objects appear blurred along the direction of the motion. Experimenting with either extreme is always the best recommendation anyone can give you.
Thanks man. The track is called "Uplifting Dubstep" and I got it off audiojungle.net but last time i checked, the composer had pulled it off but there are similar tracks if you love and search for a bit of dubstep!
+Charles “Powers” Adiukwu Thanks! On this occasion, I used the DJI Inspire 1 ND8 filter from Polar Pro, which passes through 1/8 of the incoming light. This is equal to a 3-stop filter strength.
Great video, good information for me seeing as I just bought the Osmo. Question- can you apply LUTs or do any of the tweaking you showed us in premiere elements? If so, how? Thanks!
I think you gave some bad advice when you suggested that all users should set their Osmo to the NTSC standard. It is important to use PAL when in a PAL region (that's most of the world except USA, Canada & Japan). Firstly, videos shot under artificial lights will have a pronounced flicker owing to the 10Hz difference in mains frequencies. Secondly, if their Osmo footage is to be used with video shot with other cameras in PAL regions, then it will play jerkily. Finally, if the video is to be edited, then most users will be better off using Full HD at 50p.
If you want maximum flexibility to color grade then using d -log and these settings is recommended . If you don't have the time to tweak the colours and make them "your own" then stick to the presets.
My friend i´m your big fan, and i´m videomaker from brazil , i will film a music clip , wich will have scenes at rock on the beach with good hight natural light : the sun , i will user the golden hour ( sunrise or sunset) and im very lost wit the better camera settings for the moviments with inspire one x5 and osmo x5 ..... what y suggest me my friend ? The 2 takes > the girl will be doing yoga on the rock, with the sea on your background. The drone will make a take walking straight up and against her, and will go over her head, revealing the ocean. another take, the osmo accompany her walking down the trail until you reach the stone. ie the model is in motion and sun daylight, THks my friend for your kindness and generosity
I like 24 fps myself. The lower the frame rate the more control you have over the overall camera setting. Shutter, iso etc. Most people don't realize then Hollywood movies are all filmed at 24 fps. Still to this day. Your image quality is much sharper at a higher frame rate but sharper image is not always the best image. However it is better when shooting in slow motion. You lose so much image quality shooting in slow motion which is why it's always best you use a higher frame rate. But as I said the lower the frame rate gives you the most control of your image. 24 fps is better with a better camera. On a phantom camera there is not a whole lot of difference in 24 and 30 fps.
+Double D really good points here! thanks for sharing. Safe to say it will also come down to personal preference between 24 or 30 fps, although 30fps gives you a little bit more information (6 extra fps) to work with, in color grading. Both are really good 4K frame rates for such a small camera.
+Osmo Tips indeed they are. But honestly at the end of the day the difference between 24 and 30 nobody can tell a difference. Not on these types of cameras. When you move to a larger camera with an extremely larger frame rate option. More ISO range then you start to see the difference. Atleast for people in the industry. And yes it is a preference. If you prefer 30 then shoot at 30. Nobody will notice. Great videos. I still enjoy seeing what folks are doing with their osmo. Just wish there was another camera option that's a little cheaper then the x5 but yet better then the x3. The x3 is still capable of great footage if you know how to control it and in the right lighting. Thanks for the video. :)
Thank you so much. We are overdosing on your content before we head out for our next trip. Great work!
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately my Osmo is having a black screen issue.
DJI Osmo Does it support vertical (portrait) video? Greetings from Chile

Hi! I've subscribe a lot of channels that give tips of Osmo. But yours is one of the best! Thank you for your good mood!

I have not seen this app work in portrait mode. always landscape which kind of makes sense as the video aspect ratio is landscape?

Is it possible to use the Royal Punch LUT with Pinnacle Studio 18 and above? If yes, how is it activated?

Hi, great tutorial, thanks for the freebie LUT. Can I ask a question right off subject, what track did you use in this video, love it!

How to get gud output i. Indoor , do we need to use additional lighting
additional light always helps as you can keep your ISO to a low value
Hi! How did you fix the blurry video?
how to install this Royalpunch lut to sony vegas pro 13 thanks

Parabéns pela sua dica amei, achei que tinha feito um péssimo negócio ufa
Great Video ! Lots of useful tips !
Why changing contrast, saturation and sharpness. When filming in dlog, we don't care. Am i wrong ?

Thank you

Shooting in 30 FPS doesn't increase the resolution, comparing to 24 FPS.
noted thanks
higher framerate less motion blur => increased motion resolution so he was somehow right
