    What kind of substrate is this

    • @theevolvingtank
      @theevolvingtank  7 месяцев назад

      The substrate I use in the aquarium is Black Diamond Blasting Sand - Medium. It comes in 50 lb bags for a pretty low price. Thanks for the question!

    Love Congo tetras. I would Love to keep them if i had such a big tank. Make sure your corys dont starve. With rainbow sharks and guppies etc, they might get underweight. Just make sure👍

      A great tip! So many of the other fish get a turn at the food before it ever hits the bottom for the Cory’s to have their turn. I’ll make sure to keep a close eye of them like you said. I generally do try to watch them.

      Some new life spectrum sinking pellets would be a great addition to their diet!

      I actually use that exact food lol. In addition to some Hikari sinking wafers

    Beautiful fish, but it's risky to add new fish with quarantining them before adding them to a 400-gallon aquarium. treating the whole tank could get expensive.

    Love my congos but they’re predatory instincts come out with little fish. Found out the hard way 😬

      “If it fits in their mouth they’ll eat it” definitely holds true for them. My fish have definitely been breeding but not a single one has made it lol. Thank you for the comment!

      I believe you may be talking about the peacock gudgeons. If you can give me a timestamp you see the fish at I can confirm. Thank you for the question!

    I'm sooo jealous of your beautiful tank! I can't wait to have my own one day. Have any of the fish you've added been through quarantine first? Or did you just add them straight in?

      @theevolvingtank  Год назад

      Thank you! If you don’t mind me asking how would you stock yours? And quarantine is actually relevant to my next video!

      @The Evolving Tank most of what you've already added is what I would add myself if I had a tank of your size. I would definitely increase the school of the sterbai corys to 12 or more, and then also add the same amount of either bronze or albino corys. Personally, I like rainbow fish more than Congo tetras, but at the same time in my experience congos are more docile and a better peaceful community fish. For a show piece fish, I would also do a school of pearl gouramis. Again this is just my personal preference and experience, but I've found them to also be more docile and exceptionally friendly towards other fish over anglefish. Also the colors on a full grown male gourami are superb! Lastly, I would add more live bearers either mollies or platys, or both! Just to add some more variety and life to the tank. I'm more particular to a variety of little fish vs a small amount of bigger fish. Oh I almost forgot, red eye monk tetras are also another great peaceful schooling fish! I can't wait for the future videos about your tank and the journey it's on! Keep them videos coming! 🎉

      That sounds like a wonderful tank! I prefer the variety of little fish as well. And I’ve considered adding some of the larger livebearers as well but I’d worry about the shrimp. I have to do more research on that. If you do ever put a tank like that together hopefully you can share some pictures
