Resident evil 4 is my all time favorite game. I played it over a 1000 hours ( probably a lot more ) and still i am not bored. Thanks for this upload👌😎 it gives a great perspective how it really feels to play=)
It was a good choice to include the Dark Souls character creation music in this video. I hold that tune in the same regard as Serenity when it comes to triggering gaming nostalgia.
Corrections: Realized after uploading that I was a moron at 47:14 lol. The map in the background clearly shows which defense measures lies at each path - I somehow didn't notice before! Also, turns out you actually can heal up during the Del Lago fight!
Dude you are my favorite youtuber, that is all I want to say. I've been watching you for a while now and always come back to this video and your Demon's Souls.
20:18 Bro I'm so glad you mentioned that stupid statue, I played this game on the Switch on professional difficulty and this section was literally impossible, I tried so many times and I think I may have even broken my controller but it wasn't even close. I eventually gave in and bought a turbo controller that would automatically spam any button I wanted at ludicrous speed and only that worked.
Before I even start this vid I know it's gonna be a banger, RE4 is one of my most beloved childhood games. Even played professional mode as a child on the ps2 but got stuck at the regenerators, took until the pc HD port for me to beat pro and 100% the gamr
I got RE4 for GameCube for $5 from a Blockbuster that was going out of business and wow, it is what got me back into gaming as a young adult and quickly became my favorite game of all time. Fast forward to 2017 or 2018, I bought Dark Souls III from a Redbox for $5, which led me to Dark Souls 1 which surpassed RE4 and still holds that distinction.
I loved this game when it came out and still do. I first played it on my friend's GameCube, he had borrowed it from one of or mutual friends but was too scared to play it by himself so he asked me to play the village section for him. It HOOKED me. From then on I became obsessed with getting it for my own PS2. Then I found the steel book edition in CEX for a steal. Not only that but it was in perfect condition complete with the mini guide for Chapter 1! From then on my friend who also owned it for the Wii and my other friend who owned the GameCube version would talk about our favourite weapons and sections of the game and eventually even started talking about the minor differences between our versions. This game was everything in High School. As a final point, you said at the start that playing through it 50 times would be absolutely mental. Adding together how many times I played through the game on each difficulty and the few times I would complete the game on the GameCube and Wii with my other friends back in the day, I definitely must be mental. 🤣🤣🤣 Excellent video dude, enjoyed from start to finish.
I just know this video is going to be quality as fuck, before I've even had a chance to watch it. Found your channel a few weeks ago and been loving it ever since.
I started another play through of RE4 on Christmas and man I mustve pleased the chicken god cause I picked up 1 golden egg, 4 brown eggs, and 3 white eggs. I was the Egg Man lol
What a video, actually it was the first vid I watched of yours, but it made me watch all the other videos and i can say for sure that now you are one of my favorite youtubers! Keep up the good work my friend and hopefully you’ll do the same style of the video but for the remake 🫡.
Great review. I remember back in 2005, I thought I'd never play RE4 cuz it changed the gameplay of the classic series. In hindsight, the formula needed to grow and change (especially since people who'd been playing since 1996 also grew and changed as a part of aging). Anyways; nowadays I think it's one of the strongest games in the series (definitely a "comfort game" for me). P.S. Post your favorite (base game) loadouts :) Handgun: Blacktail Shotgun: Riot Gun Rifle: Semi-Auto Rifle Custom TMP (sometimes) Mine Thrower (sometimes) Flash/Explosion Grenade (I used to always sell the Incendiary Grenades, but I've warmed to them in recent years). P.S.S. Mine Thrower was great in RE3 classic, and it's even better in RE4.
Couple of things: there is a free rocket launcher in the castle not too long before the Verdugo fight. I’ve always assumed it was meant to be used on him. Also, Killer7 was directed by Suda51, not Shinji Mikami. I also think you can always get 2 blue eyes from destroying the hive. Great video. RE4 is my all time favorite game.
I remember getting this game for Christmas when I was 16, I got it because a classmate of mine in biology class was telling me all about how good of a game it was, initially I didn't care for it because it had no zombies in it, my first experience being RE2 which I was also stuck on the puzzles, which was why I skipped code Veronica and outbreak, but he sold me on the chainsaw ganado, which according to him killed him right in the village, I was sold, considering I was a horror fan and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake was coming out at the time, so I asked my mom to get me the game for Christmas, normally that was a hassle but thats a whole other story but I got the game on Christmas day along with Ghost in the Shell the movie on DVD, so lo and behold, I hated it at first because there were no zombies, just Leon shooting a bunch of villagers, the chainsaw guy was of course good, but by the time I got to Del Lago and not too far long later, when the Las Plagas emerge from the necks of Ganados starting in chapter 2-1 I was hooked, I would have played this game a lot more back in the day but it went missing a few months later after I moved to Texas to be with my dad but that's another story as well, to put the story short, the game starts off slow but holds off the best bits for later, a great game im my book 5/5 I still gotta play the remake so I'll probably give my opinion on that later when I beat it
I could be wrong, but I believe the reason why Leon thinks of a big, juicy steak when he sees the rotting meat on the island is due to the parasite. The villagers had extremely disgusting food around as well, maybe it warps their perception of palatable food
1:26:05 I can confirm that this scene was in the German version, too. The main campaign was the same in every region. The Mercenaries mode and Assignment Ada were cut in the German version, though. The odd reason for this was that Leon always acts out of self denfense in the main campaign but in the Mercenaries you kill enemies because due to the ranking system you are motivated to do so. By the way: Great video!
Wish I would have watched this video before I sold all my flash granades. I have never really played any R.E. games. I played the original directors cut back in the day but that's about it. I decided to give R.E. 4 a try and I must say it's very good so far. I'm glad I decided to finally try it. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed watching it.
Oh boy can't wait to hear what you have to say about this I love both the original and the remake. That dog has always been in that area of the village though it typically stays in the area where the cows are. The TMP is the most OP weapon in the game and is why I stopped using it in my playthroughs to give the other weapons more love. Also, just realized something while watching this, this game is like a cross between Devil May Cry and Resident Evil which makes sense because iirc this game was originally going to be DMC but then turned into this game instead. I believe it is left, then down to open the door (I don't remember exactly as it has been a year or two since I did that puzzle). The quick time actions can only be spammed on PC because on any other version if you do that you will die and have to actually press the correct version or at least on the PS2 version you have to. You can heal during the Del Lago fight, just open your inventory and heal, the game doesn't prevent you. Trust me I have had to heal plenty of times on the Del Lago fight. I love the music in the Novistador room as it is reminiscent of the mansion basement in the original and director's cut of Resident Evil. Get rid of TMP and believe in Mine Thrower supremacy. I always use the free rocket launcher for Verdugo because Salazar is easy to take down. As for the double El Gigante fight I beleive you can dodge the grab if you keep running by the open lava pit though it may be random if you get grabbed or not. The swinging ball only has collision on the initial swing as I was unfortunate to learn that when I died when I accidently ran in front of it at the wrong time. I love using the combo of Broken Butterfly and Knife to make the fight a cakewalk. Mine Thrower + BB destroys the Saddler fight and make the Rocket Laucher (Special) irrelevant. As for Seprate Ways it was a nice mini-scenario seeing Ada's side of the events and can't wait to see what the do with it in the remake. Also, the mercenaries is the so good only super ceded by either RE4R's and RE5's. Lastly, strange you didn't want to talk about the remake as it imo it takes about everything great in this game and makes it better for the most part (except the knife parry).
Ah, weird, I tried opening my inventory during the Del Lago fight but it didn't work; I must have pressed the button at the wrong time. I'll add that correction to my pinned comment. Btw, cheers for becoming a Patron! I'm assuming it was you cos of the name Colton, but if it wasn't just ignore me lmao
Just finished the hollow knight video was really put together! And now you just released a video on one of my favorites!! Just got your self a new sub keep up the amazing work !!
Great video as always and it was nice to hear someone talk passionately about a game they love for a change, not a checklist of everything they hate about whatever game they're covering. I'm excited to see what you talk about next! Keep it up man!
It’s Halloween season so I decided to go back and play a few runs of Re 4 remake I haven’t done like S+ professional mode and the new separate ways. After watching this, I’m thinking I’m gonna have to play the old version again too. It’s just so fun.
This was, as usual, good stuff. Between your channel name + great taste in games, if you ever want a break between these delicious long bangers, you're someone who could put out a series of Shorts or shorter videos or tier lists/bergs etc exclusively on sky-boxes & I'd be SO into it.
The dog is aways at the farm passed the village. He's normally by the cows. Also, you can heal during Del Lago, just pull up the inventory and heal. Idk why you'd think otherwise.
Hey pal, love the video. One comment I'd like to make and I'm not sure how you'd 'fix' this so take it with a pinch of salt. But I'd appreciate it in your retrospectives if you kept somewhat spoiler-free of newer games. For instance, early on you talk about the trial by fire method and say how it apears at the beginning of Resi8. I've literally just bought it and have avoided everything I can on the game until I play it, but now I know there's a weird wolf monster and a trial by fire early on 😂
The reason why people "dislike" the island is because it's fuckin hard😂it's a real test of abilities & I love it lol haven't played the remake but it's hard to believe anything could top this masterpiece of a game.
Resident Evil 6 is underrated. I'd recommend hopping around between the different campaigns rather than playing them each in turn. I have a recommended play order somewhere
Yep, you totally skip the Hedge Maze on easy mode! If I remember correctly, the door where you insert both halves of the Moonstone is just open for you to walk through on Easy mode.
Resident evil 4 is my all time favorite game. I played it over a 1000 hours ( probably a lot more ) and still i am not bored.
Thanks for this upload👌😎 it gives a great perspective how it really feels to play=)
CANDLE Type 1a. Still my favorite RUclipsr of 2023. Enjoyable content. Perfect length. You are really on a roll and you don't need legs.
Thanks so much, that really means a lot!
"perfect length"
🤨

Haven't had the time to watch it yet but really looking forward to it, keep at it friend!
Aw man, what a kind soul haha. Thanks so much buddy; you're generous as hell!

This is by far one of the best re4 retrospectives I've found. Phenomenal job brother.
I started another play through of RE4 on Christmas and man I mustve pleased the chicken god cause I picked up 1 golden egg, 4 brown eggs, and 3 white eggs. I was the Egg Man lol
Well watched every minute of this. Great video. Also great choices in background music!
great video, was cool hearing all those damage stats and other little details like that you mixed in.
Your vids are the perfect mix comedy and great analysis. You have great taste in games too

Nice touch with the FFX soundtrack playing in the background. Both amazing games from my childhood
I could be wrong, but I believe the reason why Leon thinks of a big, juicy steak when he sees the rotting meat on the island is due to the parasite. The villagers had extremely disgusting food around as well, maybe it warps their perception of palatable food
Damn didn't think about that
I think beating the game 30 times is def mental haha. Thanks for your retro. Looking forward to the next one!

Stranger stranger now that's a weapon.
The first rifle you get if fully upgraded I believe you get 2x power. Its an absolute monster.
I can’t believe Obi wan Kanobi is a resi fan, I didn’t think they’d even have ps2’s in a galaxy far far away.
The reason why people "dislike" the island is because it's fuckin hard😂it's a real test of abilities & I love it lol haven't played the remake but it's hard to believe anything could top this masterpiece of a game.
The island isn't hard, it drags more than anything.
In my opinion anyways. I know its different from person to person
Resident Evil 6 is underrated. I'd recommend hopping around between the different campaigns rather than playing them each in turn. I have a recommended play order somewhere
The only weapon ive never gotten in this game is the prl gun that you get for beating it on pro
Play a Zelda game, please.
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Big delicious aaaaaarm
1:19:00 thats creepy as hell! hes saying "I want his head. bring me the girl. die die die"
Jesus, that is creepy! Had no idea that's what it translated to haha
Played the shit outta the remake. Great game
great video is it ok if I ask you a question
Sure!
You absolutely can heal during the lago fight
I know, hence why I pinned a comment a month ago correcting this error.
I see what you did there
Wait so if you have it on east the hedge maze do t exist?!?
Yep, you totally skip the Hedge Maze on easy mode! If I remember correctly, the door where you insert both halves of the Moonstone is just open for you to walk through on Easy mode.
