Great review, although I think you missed a few points.... -smart key access (keyless go) is a pretty inexpensive option. -To access the cameras (or anything else you want easy access to) you can add it to your shortcut button (the star) next to the joystick -You don't have to go through menus to mute the nav and still have music playing... when the voice prompt is speaking just hit mute and it will mute the commands.
I do love how MB has positioned the 2.1L diesel as the base engine in North America! Mercedes: "You vill get ze diesels, und you vill like zem!" I test drove the Bluetec E-Class this summer and was impressed. The probem, as you made mention of in the video, is the high price of options and the inability to pick and choose individual options & upgrades without having to buy entire option 'suites' or 'bundles' - which add up quickly. By the time I spec'ed the E-Class with my preferred options, it was north of $70K! Ouch! I also notice you only get the smaller, 16" or 17" (?) alloy wheels for $70K! Even VW does better than that! I would hope for some larger, snazzier wheels w/ lower profile tires at that price! At the end of the day, buying new just didn't make economic sense. You're better off buying a certified, one year-old model.
Thank you for this informative and straight forward review. Also, thanks for mentioning the color transfer from blue jeans to the beige seats. I will definitely get black seating.
I just saw your video for the first time as I was actually seeking out a Yaw Sensor on my '14 E250 4Matic. Here's my feedback so far. I just turned 226,000 miles last week; MB'a synthetic material does not hold up well. I've repaired mine (driver's side) twice. The seat belt strap wears down on the left shoulder area. The second wear point on mine is the right thigh bolster; I put in a used tranny at 220,000 (After warranty expiration. New one @$8,500 - rebuilt @ $5,300-Used @ $3,700; front axel (Warranty) at 175,000 miles. Fuel economy is great. I average 34-35mpg with most steady highway driving getting >42 mpg. Once I achieved >900 miles (>44mpg) on a tank driving cross country. I do have '"Keyless Go" on my car. Caveat Emptor- Anyone owning this model knows the hard way when you replace your tires and get a four-wheel alignment that the DEF & Fuel Tanks must be lowered to affect the rear geometry of the suspension to calibrate the alignment. Ouch!
Wow you still work for Roadfly? I know ive asked on facebook before. I forgot Roadfly was still around and this video was clearly shot half a year ago. Please tell me you have another job on the side because Roadfly has basically died here on youtube. Roadfly is easily better than the lame Edmunds channel videos but at least they put out one or two videos per week!
Yay you're back!!! Glad to see Ross didn't jump ship An AWD burnout would've been nice to see though. Yeah I know you said it's not made for that, but burnouts are still fun and all that torque is just begging for it :D
Right on. I've made similar trips as you twice. Stowe to Boynton Beach and Burlington to Key West. I broke 800 miles per tank frequently when I used Nokian Tires. I just put my fourth set of tires on in August. This time, Goodyear Comfort Treads. Oh, the car is quiet and handles nicely BUT I gave back fuel economy....
I drive a 15 E250, never even thought about the mute button/stop the music. A big surprise was 46-7 mpg on the highway! My big concerns were the run flat tires (not a real issue now), added service with Minnesota diesel blends, and figuring out the option list/features can be confusing during the purchase. All the MB names sound alike.
I do like you guys, but would it be that difficult to have some review the video before it gets published to make sure the correct numbers are on the screen and that they match what the presenter is saying? I know I have seen many Roadfly videos where the MPG or HP/TQ numbers were off. Just saying. Hope there are some more reviews on the way.
Sir. You are incorrect. I own a 2008 S-550 AMG 4-Matic. Regarding the Comand system. When I press the power button everything turns off Comand, Navigation, Audio, everything. However, when I press the "Mute button" my CD, MP3 audio pauses however, when in radio or Sat radio mode the system just mutes the sounds. Regarding the color transfer I agree. However, I would not get a lightly colored leather or leathette material in any make or model other than black
For a $50k E-Class there is no excuse for not having real leather. Sort of drives home the point that the older Benzes of the 80s and 90s had better craftsmanship.
***** : I agree with you but on the other hand, I have a 1985 300D with MB textile and it looks like new ! Not the case for leather seats that age ! :-)
Thats Unboxed " Volkswagen owns Audi " Yes and that should tell a lot about Audi. "and dont be so stereotypical that Volkswagens are shit" Speaking facts does not make one stereotypical but objective,

***** Well, considering the fact that I am the one with an uncle who worked for MB (in the main plant in Stuttgart Germany) and who is European and drove European cars pretty much more than half of his life. Perhaps you may get your head out of your biased ass, and stop badge mongering. Instead of going by your preconceived ideas due to rumors and gossip, you should learn to rely on facts that rely on statistical information. Then perhaps, you may have an idea about what you are talking about.
Meinen Esel weg lachen !!

400 Torques and 0 to 60 in over 8 seconds. Yaah sorry torque is a new trend that really hardly matters, HP is whats really relivant. Most people dont even know what torque is
I was referring to the fact that you don't think torque is important. Horsepower isn't the only thing that matters. In racing, sure, HP is helpful when you're always in the top end. But for many people torque is more applicable in everyday life.
Torrey B No, the European engine is a Bluetec too. But I have noticed that compared to Europe, exactly the same engines have a lower HP rating in America. Why is that?
Igor Vyshnyanchyn Wow, really? I honestly didn't know. So why is US fuel worse for HP? and is that part of the reason is significantly cheaper than in the EU?
Protector of the Republic Probably that, too. Regular pump gas in the US is 91 octane, plus - 93, premium - 95, while standart european gas - 95 octane.
oscar trujillo To the contrary. If you buy used car and you still can drive it without problems then it is a good car otherwise it is a junk, and all European cars are junk.
Fussinated The only thing that's "all junk" are your idiotic, biased, bigoted comments. Of course there are good and bad automobiles from all continents. I've owned a 1995 BMW 318iC, and had 200,000+ trouble-free miles from our when I sold it, and currently own a tremendously impressive and capable 2011 BMW 335d, which is stupid quick, corners like it's on rails, and consistently returns 40+ mpg on long highway trips. Haters gonna hate, though, I guess.

the last outstanding car review from roadfly tv before everything went down for roadflytv

Just sealed the deal and bought a 2016 with 120k km here in Toronto! Haha seeing your comment is 8 years old
Your issue with the navigation is wrong. If you press mute while the music is playing it will stop but navigation will continue
23 MPG?! what did you do?! sit in traffic for two days?
Thank you for this informative and straight forward review. Also, thanks for mentioning the color transfer from blue jeans to the beige seats. I will definitely get black seating.
TheLanard: don’t worry, the blue wipes off easily with a lightly dampened microfiber towel.

Whaaaat?? Roadflytv is alive?
Jeez, when was this shot in, January?
hi Ross, good to see you back
Wow you still work for Roadfly? I know ive asked on facebook before. I forgot Roadfly was still around and this video was clearly shot half a year ago. Please tell me you have another job on the side because Roadfly has basically died here on youtube. Roadfly is easily better than the lame Edmunds channel videos but at least they put out one or two videos per week!
Roadfly still exists?
that was a long break.
Welcome back Roadfly!
Yay you're back!!! Glad to see Ross didn't jump ship
An AWD burnout would've been nice to see though. Yeah I know you said it's not made for that, but burnouts are still fun and all that torque is just begging for it :D
Best car I have ever owned. Except for when it breaks down. 800 miles per tank @ $45. Ft. Lauderdale to Killington and back $170.
Right on. I've made similar trips as you twice. Stowe to Boynton Beach and Burlington to Key West. I broke 800 miles per tank frequently when I used Nokian Tires. I just put my fourth set of tires on in August. This time, Goodyear Comfort Treads. Oh, the car is quiet and handles nicely BUT I gave back fuel economy....
what happened to you guys? Ross was a great reviewer
Great review, but has Roadfly hit some speed bumps? At least explain to the viewers why you have been absent for such a long time.
I drive a 15 E250, never even thought about the mute button/stop the music. A big surprise was 46-7 mpg on the highway! Roadfly! It lives!!
is this near Philadelphia where you filmed it ?
Unique take on the E250! I want to see you review the new Hyundai Genesis...

No smart key access? Oh shit, well I guess I'll have to tap a button then stick the key in the ignition.
I noticed Emme Hall's name in the credits. Did she leave TFL to come back to Roadfly or is she doing both?
She also had a road fly tv sticker on her miata, which was shown on TFL. Just saying.
it’s 2,2 liter...
Ross where have you been? You do a great job. Keep them coming.
Good review
Great balanced review.
4400 pounds E250?
Bold review
Yay You're BACK! now review the BRZ blue series! the WRX and WRX STI! thanks Road FLY
no they upload like 1 car every 7 months
Lol one every 7 months lol
A little late to the game, aren't we?
For a $50k E-Class there is no excuse for not having real leather. Sort of drives home the point that the older Benzes of the 80s and 90s had better craftsmanship.
They all still came with MB-Tex, and whoever wanted real leather could buy that option :)
***** : I agree with you but on the other hand, I have a 1985 300D with MB textile and it looks like new ! Not the case for leather seats that age ! :-)
Wish the Golf TDI had those HP and TQ numbers!
Golf GTD has 184HP
brain96969 Not even on the same level, 258ftlb of torque, this merc engine destroys there so called fast diesel
If you are gonna wish VW leave US Market. What a piece of junk.
Fussinated Volkswagen owns Audi and dont be so stereotypical that Volkswagens are shit
Thats Unboxed
" Volkswagen owns Audi "
Yes and that should tell a lot about Audi.

Speaking facts does not make one stereotypical but objective,
396 f/lb or 369 f/lb? He said one thing but showed another on the screen.
NIGHTFOX: either is ample, but it is 369.
No mention about engine smoothness or lack thereof , ride quality / gear shifts etc.
Because they don't exist ... it is a Mercedes.

23 mpg??? I'm looking at diesels for mpg. Try to maximize it. We're not looking at this car to smash the throttle.
Where u been at roadfly???? What happened to that blonde chick? She left, went to motortrend and never c her so im assuming she left them too.
I meant the other blonde
I totally forgot about this channel, and that makes me sad...
+radudeATL I know right, for a while I thought they went under like My Ride.

Next time take the time and the effort to learn about the car before a review. The car is great. Your presentation not so much.
65 g's. I rather get a bimmer or Audi diesel for a little more money. Way more HP, better performance, and better fuel econmy.
You guys are back and actually losing subscribers

You've obviously never driven a BMW 335d. I own one, and can testify that it's nice having 425 lb ft of torque on a car that averages 34mpg.
It is obvious that ross is a Litter bug. (old video.)
as the song says ,,sometimes it snows down in june ,,
It has 204 HP not 195.
...no its 195. 204 is the European non-blutec engine. Quite interesting that you'd get that wrong Mr America. ;)

Hate Mercedes. Had a lot of probs after owning it for 2 months.
