This gym has left so many in Seymour and Jackson County memories of a place in time that no one past or future will ever see again. From the basketball sectionals of the 1950's and 60's to the 100-100 overtime game between Seymour and Scottsburg in 1969 which I consider the most exciting and thrilling game that I ever saw as a 13 year old who loved to go and watch his heroes like Baron Hill and Rick Mousa win against so many great teams and individual players. By the way Scottsburg led by legendary player Billy James won that game 110-104 so you can see some of nostalgia that is meshed in this wonderful old gym. I can only say and believe me when I say this. If I were wealthy there would be no more discussion, this building would have already been completely restored and my dream of watching the Owls play there again if only once would become reality. Yes I know this may sound crazy to some but don't we all have a field of dreams. I just wish we could try.

Wow, that place brings back memories. Before consolidation, the Cortland, Clearspring, Tampico, Medora games in the sectionals. Kids playing their hearts out. I remember regular season games when Seymour played great Indiana schools. Yes I have worked for Sam Emily to clean the gym after ball games. My junior year I sold popcorn to the yelling fans. I wouldn't trade my experiences in that gym for anything.

The gym and property would take a lot to restore, we can only hope for donations or restoration funds to save it. But it could be an amazing YMCA or community center/park.

Fix it or tear it down. I get it that it’s nostalgic but like she said it just sits there and that’s all it does. It’s an eyesore cause it’s so ran down.

living your life miserable in southern Indiana 😂 you guys don’t know how to have any fun clearly. its not your community anyways. if you watch the video dude literally talks about how important it is in the community. and it’s def not an eyesore it’s literally beautiful. my mother used to say don’t speak unless you have something nice to say… so stop commenting if you have nothing nice to say.
