35:10 I love this moment so much. It almost makes me cry every time. It shows how much Watson is important for Holmes, how much he really cares and worries about him. It is so moving, I can't
Well and if reading or listening like here, to ACDs version... Sherlock is very much human and in fact has a great dry and fun sense of humor and a certain protective element towards women and people in general, he is cold na calculating in a professional way and in the way his brain works. He can be a bit haughty etc but someone of great intelligence is, because they is not through intentional malicious ❤
@@MsMtheoryIt, in another side of the same coin sort of thing, it also reminds me of that episode of inspector Morse where that evil dude has set fire to Morse's house and he just barely has gotten out and he's sitting in the back of the ambulance, clearly terrified, and calling "Lewis, Lewis, I want Lewis" . As much as we usually see Morse being a bit derisive of, and sometimes downright rude to Lewis, we see in that moment, the extent to which Morse relies on him and trusts and actually has come to need him.
I have never been known to cry from a great read, but that moment of clarity which Watson finally saw of Holmes... Well let's just say that I truly am a Greg Wagland FAN....
I listen to a lot of audio books and stories, and I really like how Greg Wagland performs these classics. There's never any doubt which character is speaking, yet Mr. Wagland never strays into exaggerated caricatures in order to differentiate his speakers. I don't know much about the various British dialects, but it's clear that different characters come from different regions, educational backgrounds, and social classes. I especially appreciate Mr. Wagland's portrayal of female characters. I wince when I hear some male voice actors try to sound like their idea of a woman's voice - prissy, or shrill, or just downright stupid. Mr. Wagland manages to convey a feminine tone without sounding like a Monty Python player in drag. Thanks so much for the stories - I look forward to more!
Sierraseven Gregg Waglands vocal repertoire is awesome. I can confirm that his British regional accents are as good as it gets. He says ' I just read 'em '. We know he does much more than that don't we !
Gosh! I was thrilled to see this today! I needed a lift with all the anxiety and depression that has come with this pandemic and the hell it has caused. Thank you Mr. Greg, this was a welcomed peaceful retreat for me😍
EAZY GAMER89 i couldn't agree more! holmes to me is perfectly illustrated with Mr. Greg's voice, the best part to demonstrate that is at "the hound of the baskerville" where Dr. Watson found his hiding place in one of the Neolitic house on the moor.
In my opinion, Mr. Wagland has joined the ranks of the great Holmes voices: Basil Rathbone in the classic movies, Jeremy Brett in the terrific BBC TV series, Greg Wagland in audio narrative.
First I read all the stories, then I listed to Greg Wagland reciting them, then I watched Jeremy Brett's interpretation. I know almost all of these stories now. Greg's voice has brought them to life for me.
Like the old time radio shows, I find I enjoy listening to these stories more than watching them acted out. Thank you for your wonderful contributions.
I’m delighted to say I have just started listening to these stories and when I think I have come to the end of them more appear . Thank you so much Greg. Your narration is excellent thank you .
Oh, what a relief to once again listen to your new recording! This is another great story and performed so well, as usual. I love how you say "Kansas" in your American accent...sounds so authentic! 👍 For me, Holmes and Watson are the best partners ever in the history of fictional characters. In many different settings, each one had shown care for the other one. And we saw it in this story once again. I love their friendship! Cheers, Greg... thank you and stay safe!🤩
We hear Greg's voice in our heads whenever reading Sherlock Holmes it's like he is Sherlock Holmes for us now. He brings the characters to life so well and we thoroughly enjoy his talented narration.
I can enjoy your story telling with ease even though English is not my mother tongue. I appreciate your initiative Mr. Greg W., your presentation is simple and that's the beauty. Keep it up, Sir.
One of my favourites. Once read never forgotten. Clever story and a glimpse of Holmes's love for Watson. Love the 19th century male bonding concept. Faultless delivery as always from Mr.G.W. Cheers !
My favorite story is this! For it gives the clearest glimpse into the true nature of Holmes and Dr. Wason's relationship, you are such a lovely reader cheers.
I realized today that I have enjoyed your reading via audible for a few years. I have purchased a number of your performances including London Large, and Joseph Conrad and E Benson’s works.
I love how for the first time the usually cool Holmes showed human emotions and was distraught and angry over Watson’s injury 😊even Watson said his injury was worth it seeing “a cold mask come off” he is so happy 😀 thanks again Greg for your fantastic reading to make the whole scene come alive❤️
I absolutely love your narrations. Any Sherlock tale, the beetle . and Become and Hude.... And really loved A Christmas Carol!!. You remain my favorite readee.
I love these readings; I also love any Agatha Christie, Hancock's Half Hour (brilliant characters, comedy and pathos) and the Love Letter to Nature 'The Wind In The Willows' - which is full of laughs too! 😃🙂
Thank you Mary. W I t W has been in my sights for a long time. Haven’t done it for the same reasons I can’t with equanimity watch It’s a Wonderful Life more than once a decade, even alone. 🥲 Cheers
Thank you for this! The audio is amazing and now my standards for great reading is set by Greg Waglands. I hope i can read like him in the future for my channel. Excited to learn more
I think the Holmes/Watson ship just sailed, guys. Wonderful narration! Your Holmes has become the archetype of the character's voice for me, just as Rathbone is the character's image.
red-headed league? similar advertisement for someone with a peculiar quality (red hair) to rob a bank. i think the three garridebs is a slightly more serious plot
I' ve enjoyed in this story throughly! The way you've read it and interpret it was sublime. I'm always looking forward to the new stories from you, Mr. Greg ❤️

@@milkknife no, there Lestrad too! He goes over for dinner and cigars. 😊
And eat boiled fish, too.
I find it so sweet how Sherlock worries about Watson, and how he describes it is heartwarming

This is the best thing to come my way in isolation so far. Can't wait to listen to this before bed. Thank you as always Greg, you absolute star.
Cheers Ellie. Hope you enjoy it. Finished it this afternoon!

Any day with a new Sherlock Holmes story from this channel is a great day
The Hurels family would disagree. Earl died April 29th 2020😢
Thank you Mr Wagland. Honestly I missed your stories, Holmes, your voice. Much appreciated and best regards.
I've listened to every single Sherlock Holmes story on this channel over the past month!!! A new story is refreshing and needed. Thank you, sir!!
It's easy to just go through them like a tube of Pringles, isn't it? :)
I was about to comment the same thing! So grateful.
Thank you for uploading these, my mother just loves to listen to them before she goes to bed.
35:04 The moment that we love the most in this Holmes-Watson bromance story.
The only Brit other than Hugh Laurie and Mark Shepard who can do an American accent that doesn't make me cringe! Excellent, as always-
Nice of you to say so, Scout!
What about Jude Law? Also, Eastwood is secretly a member of English ducal family.
Thank you😊 you are the best sherlock Holmes narrator.
I am absolutely addicted to these tales. Nothing quite like them from our present day.

Conan Doyle’s mastery of slang is astounding.
I think the knighthood that Holmes turned down should be given to Greg!
Yes, for services to people suffering in lockdown!
Preach!
Yes!
Something to cheer for in this horrible year. Thank you Sir.
Actually, Mr. Wagland should get a soup-plate sized medal for reading us another Sherlock Holmes story!
