The day I run out of your Sherlock readings will be abominable! I’m 15 and it’s not exactly popular for someone my age to listen to these but gosh they’ve got me through a lot! I just thought I’d comment to thank you because I struggle with anxiety and eating disorders but these audiobooks are where I come back to anytime I feel stressed. No one, I believe, reads them better than you Greg- the expression and consistency is amazing! Thank you so much 😊 Also thank you to all the comments it means a lot ❤️
Anxiety is a nightmare and from one Greg fan and anxiety sufferer to another .. Things get better . Very brave to write that comment at your age. Well done , I hope you will feel better soon .. it can ease with age . In the meantime know you are not alone 💞
I was a fan of the Jeremy Brett's shows when I was your age. (I'm 48 now) They got me through some tough times too. Things will get better for you, I assure you. In the meantime, Sherlock Holmes mysteries are always great viewing and listening.
My favourite reading of Mr Wagland is the Sherlock Holmes story - The Sign Of Four - I must have listened to that one maybe 15 times? I can't listen to anyone else reading Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle, because nobody brings the characters to life as Greg Wagland can. I listen to him when I'm in bed and if I fall asleep, I just rewind to where I remember and continue. Don't worry about what is popular Grace, you do you and don’t worry about what people think 😊
Thank you Mr. Wagland. I thought we had already run out of Sherlock stories! I wish they would never end. Your performances of Sherlock and Watson are just perfect.
Your The Best Reader, I think Nigel Bruce Played Dr. Watson quite too Bumbling! I still Loved Him and of course the Portrayal of Sherlock Holmes by Basil Rathbone, I seek no other Holmes & Watson on the Screen as favorite!
It takes alot of painful vocal effort,an immense ability to imitate, concentration and genuine passion to entertain the audio book fans.Your episodes 've become a fixed routine at my weekends.Thank you so much for this magnificent performance.Depression and anxiety patients could find a real therapy here.
"Depression and anxiety patients could find a real therapy here." Believe me, we do, we do.. This can be seen in the hundreds of comments, to all these stories, that thank Greg for how much he has helped them. Greg successfully helps with insomnia and chronic pain as well. He has done so much for so many of us. We owe him much.
I own the complete Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur in one volume. It's one of my most cherished books. It's such a pleasure to sit back and listen to these marvelous stories. Absolutely top notch narration. 🔍
With a narrator of many voices and accents such as Mr Wagland, who needs more than one narrator? Thank you, Mr Wagland, for keeping us entertained, especially during the COVID times and also for continuing to keep us entertained. This podcast never fails to teleport me into the late 19th and early 20th century Britain.
We were so thrilled to see a new upload from Greg Wagland who is the ultimate voice of Sherlock Holmes. We have listened over and over again. We have been listening to Greg for a few years now and love when a new one appears in the feed.
@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio I think it's good for creators to know they are appreciated and their listeners enjoy their content and know the work that goes into making quality content
These recordings are absolutegold and Greg your voice acting is just the best for Sherlock . I just wish this never ends. Thanks a lot Mr.Wagland for this amazing adventure and a lot more to come for sure.
I enjoy science fiction stories from the 1930s and 40s for a variety of reasons, not least of which is that they are often unintentionally very funny all these years later. In this sense, it was those "aspects of the plot and dialogue which might perhaps jar with the modern listener" that I enjoyed here. When I heard the line about "holding off the Jews" I had to pause the video until I stopped laughing. Thank you for this most excellent recording!
I’ve listened to all of your Sherlock Holmes narrations multiple times through, to the point where I’ve memorized the endings to each case, so I’m always so excited to see you’ve been able to upload a new one!
Cheers Greg, Another top tier reading and recording! Very much obliged my dear fellow, for these audios I am a perfect fiend. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Mr. Conan Doyle, Dr. Watson, Mr. Holmes, and of course Mr. Wagland ❤️
Dear Mr.Wagland , listening to your perfect british accent helps me alot in learing English more than any other means.. Once a notification of a new story of your great channel pops up on my phone I enjoy listening to your magnificent narration... please keep uploading more of Mr. Doyles thrilling stories.. thank you very much
Woot! One of my favorite stories from this particular Holmes collection. Much appreciated, and stellar narration as always. I especially liked John Mason's voice.
What a happy surprise. Never expected to hear a new (to me) Sherlock story. Thanking you with great appreciation. You are the very best narrator of these stories and many others. Sincerely wishing you a terrific new year!
These audio books are marvelous. I've listened to Study in scarlet and the hound of the Baskervilles many times. Greg brings all the characters to life.
I immediately thought of you, Mr. Wagland, when I heard that the last of the SH stories had entered the public domain. Trivial, but when Holmes asks Watson early on if he knows anything about horse racing, it would appear that the two of them (and Doyle somehow?) have forgotten about Silver Blaze. Thanks for the upload, sir...!
Happy New Year, dear Mr. Wagland. Many thanks for this story and for reminding listeners that it behooves us to remember the historical period in which ACD was writing. I enjoyed the pacing of your narration, Greg, and as always, it was superlative.❤️
Hi Greg! Was saving this but can’t wait any longer! ☺️ as always it is joy to hear you bring my beloved characters to life! Hope all is well for you & yours across pond. Happy New Year 2023🎉
I saved this one too, for a long time!! It was my final piece before earning the stripes of "I've completed the entire SH canon." I held out for so long because that would mean there are officially no new stories for me to hear. But then I decided I can't wait forever! Gotta wrap it up at some point! So now it's all done. Now it's re-listens and re-reads and discovering new angles, but alas no new stories!
Oh, your voice is truly the tops of my list for that confident feeling of assurance to be lead on a literary journey, which no matter the depths, the soul will triumph through in tact & with a gaining of self knowledge. If this, in part, is due to the accomplished work that you have chosen to read, it must justly be a reflection of yourself. I certainly feel that by listening to these excellent adventures, that I have expanded my vocabulary, as well as attained an exceptional exposure to the working craft of the story. A confined creative spirit, with otherworldly exceptionality in circling through the Author’s worlds…
Greg, happy new year and hope all is wonderful so far of 2023. I'm excited about this reading. Greg now yet again another reason you help me so. Within a fort night I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I never felt alone while listening to you.i love critters. Take care Greg👽
I tell you old fellow, I can no longer read these stories without hearing your sublime narration and unequaled rendition of them. I've recently been watching the Jeremy Brett Sherlock series, thinking I'd give them a go. They're very good and I enjoy them. Brett does a skilled and conscientious portrayal. Still, I find his Holmes to be a bit too abrasive. Barks too much. I've heard the same lines, in the same context exact as said by Holmes, by you both. Yet somehow when your Holmes says them, even when it's supposed to be rude, harsh, abrupt, or all of the above. He still remains charming and sympathetic and likeable. These really are masterfully done.
This came out just in time, considering I just finished listening to all the other Holmes stories on your channel, with the exception of the Lupin one. I tried to finish that one but the fact that they Nerfed Holmes so hard just made me give up on the whole story
I love the dog angle to the story. Had Holmes notified the police immediately the Baronette would have lost the horse bets. The race was still three weeks away.
Thank You!...Another great presentation...I have scoured around and have yet to find an acceptable, to my ears, a read of "Murders in the Rue Morgue"...Have you ever considered doing that one?...It would be great and fitting edition to your channel...Happy 2023.
Can you please record "Sherlock Holmes: The Unauthorized Biography" by Nick Rennison. Thanks for upploading. it is great. Thanks again. Please try to record it soon. Thanks

Your comment has inspired me to try and get my 15-year-old niece into Holmes.

This is the first Sherlock Holmes story I have heard with your narration. You do it justice. I could imagine you voicing a Dr.Who radio drama.
Healthy Happy 2023 All and a big thank you to Greg. Such a treat to find a new story. You've made my day 😀😀 xx

True for me too

Maybe. Majority of works still in copyright!
