I have all of the ingredients in the fridge/pantry. I know what I'm having for dinner. Except I'm gonna use wild rice as it is what I prefer and always have on hand
Amazing! Wild rice sounds like a great idea
Gabrielle Omalley I
Farmed rice is just as good and slain humanely.
How many rice fields need to be hunted before you pick a more ethical ingredient?
SORTEDfood just wanted to let you know dinner was a major hit, even with my pickiest eater, and there wasn't anything left over. This is definitely going to become a family staple!!!
Gabrielle Omalley, seriously just wild rice? To me it is always just too fibrous on it's own, as well as crazy expensive!
BTW, wild rice is not actually rice, it's a grass seed.
Perhaps you are thinking of brown rice.
There are lots of Korean dishes that can be veganized for Jamie's vegan month. Japchae noodles is fantastic....use Gochujang....it is delish!
Could you do Scandinavian inspired food !!!
Swedish surstrøming and icelandic shark
maybe something Danish or Nordic kitchen because I loved those videos !!!!
Don't forget Finland! 🇫🇮
Finland isn’t part of Scandinavia. It’s only Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
Linnéa Jaspersson I know that, I just meant it as a part of the Nordic countries 😅
Really loved that bit where Ben popped out from behind Jamie to wave! Thank you, camera person, perfect visual comedy.
I just recently found your channel and have probably watched half of your videos already. I have also made several of your recipes and they all came out amazing! I love food shows and am declaring SortedFood is the best cooking show out there! Entertaining and amazing food! I make your recipes a few times a week and its always a hit with my family! Thank you for your show!
I love how Sorted has been expanding over to more Korean dishes in the recent years 👍
I'm genuinely grateful for this channel because I feel like I've learned so much about international cuisines through watching your videos for about 5+ years. Being Korean, I want to help other viewers, even if in the slightest way, expand their knowledge about Korean food - the food I know best!😊 That's why I can't help but feel passionate every time you guys post Korean-inspired recipes 😉
Is there a "Hack it like a chef" playlist? This rocks! Adding ingredients to grocery list now.
Ben thank you for your teaching skills! I love the way you explain what and why you are doing something!
First time I tried Korean fried chicken, I was an instant fan! Need to try some more Korean goodies though! 🍜🍚
Korean pork should definitely be next on your list!
Adams Eats Korean army stew. Unhealthy but absolutely mind-blowing.
I don't know if you guys done it before, but can you try to do Molecular Gastronomy theme or week perhaps? :)
yess Heston
Just had this deliciousness for lunch! That sauce is amazing! 😋we paired it with Carrot red onion and garlic straight out of the wok
Thanks guys :)
I literally adore when Ben and Jamie do a video together. I love the rest of the boys but their chemistry is just so nice and refreshing.
Glad Sorted is back, missed y’all! 😘😘😘😘
I will have to try this. I'll be cooking slices of garlic alongside the pork, adding kimchi, hot pepper, and a fried egg on top :)
I think you guys should cook African food, you've never done that before, I think it's the only continent you haven't done, lol.
Fair point! Any ideas on what we should be cooking?
Maybe explore different regions, because there are 50 countries with a whole variety, you could split it into north, east, south, and west and visit expert cooks who can teach the sorted team how to cook classic dishes.
uniquelady1234 yeah i think that's a very good idea
uniquelady1234 or just use the amazing tool that is the internet
I've beeeeeen saying this! Pap, samp and beans, tomato bredie, anything with a langsous, Cape Malay style cooking from South Africa etc.
Love this and how you can just add whatever you have in the kitchen. Yummers!
I think an interesting video would be for Ben to make something but he has to 'guess' everything.
No scales so estimate weight
No measuring jug so estimate volume
No clock/watch so estimate time
Label on oven covered over so estimate temperature
etc.
But that is how asians cook.😂😂
Ask any asian how to cook ...a fist of this a pinch of that
That's... easy?! Most people who cook often don't weigh or measure stuff - no one in my family ever weighs anything, if it's not the first (or maybe second) time we make it. It's an art, not a science.
I bet Ben also mostly only does measure ingredients to put the written receipes together.
I like the idea but it can't be just any recipe, I'd say either something he has never heard of before and was only given a rapid/ vague description by James of or something that you really need to take measurements for/ of like a souflé.
It’s a great idea
Yas! Love Sorted and Korean food. Perfect 💜
So like is this supposed to be a Bibimbab recipe? Because as a Korean living in Seoul this ain’t our street food and it ain’t the usual Korean style Bibimbab but damn that looks good.
What are the ingredients of a more authentic Korean bibimbab? Now I'm curious (and hungry). :)
Not sure it's intended to be bibimbap! They have a seperate recipe for that :D
kahux ah! The inevitable “guys you got this wrong comment”
Bibimbap is delicious but they did introduce the video to say this was a Korean inspired dish.
I AM HUNGRY
Already made this. This is an absolutely killer recipe!
looks Amazing!
I love when Ben and Jamie work together. As silly as Jamie gets most of the time, you can really see the respect he has for Ben in these videos. And Ben's respect for Jamie. The Sorted Family are a bunch of very lucky and talented people.
I mean isn’t Jamie always hungry...
Yea. My daily dose of sorted ❤️❤️❤️
More korean inspired dishes ! Definately gonna try this out!
7:10 Jamie went full Adam Hills comedy bit scrunchy face for a second or two. XD
So excited to make this recipe! I think I'll add a dash of samjatang to the sauce since it compliments the other Korean flavors so well!
Made these for my packed lunches for the next few days and oh my goodness gracious is this pork good! Make sure you get proper gochujang. So tasty and because it's fermented it's good for your gut ecosystem too!
I love Korean foods, and this looks so good. I try it :)
I've been Korean for 27years and I've never been cooking this way, but worth to try but seems really difficult as a Korean! It is a very simple process to make that bowl actually.
Yay for jumping on the korean train!! If you have the chance, you should collab with Maangchi, she's my favourite inspiration all Korean food related!
This food looks so goooooood! I want to try it so badly!
So simple but looks amazing
Jamie did a good job ⭐️ !!!
would love more recipes like this that can be scaled down for a single person, or up when you have people around. So many recipes have too many different elements/ingredients to bother with when you live alone!
Oh my looks super fresh and delicious
U guys nailed it again! Love it. Course i will substitute with firm tofu. Cheers!
This looks AMAZING! Thanks Sorted :D
Could you do east African (Kenyan) inspired food.
I wouldn't be mad if you had a whole episode of just James 😍😍
This does look fantastic and I will try it soon. I have a question, though. The gochu jang that I get here in the US is a bright red but it looked like the paste you used was brownish. Do you know the difference and if there are adjustments we should make here, or was it just the lighting?
Yes! A video about korean food!
Can't wait to give this a try. It's easily veganized and because it's few ingredients, its perfect for a student like myself.
One thing that I find hilarious is that Ben always says "paaahwk" instead of just 'pork'. My dad is English and I have never heard him enunciate 'pork' that way. Funny.
Hahaha, wow, I just read a older comment on how you guys should do some korean food, this is amazing!
As an inspired geography teacher, Ben, you should check your geography knowledge. Japan, China, and Korea are East Asia. Southeast Asia is Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Phillipines, Indonesia, Timor-Leste. This looks good though. Will try it this midweek.
I made it here within the hour.... I have impressed myself lol
When Jamie eats delicious food his eyebrows look kind of like an 'Angry Bird's'... 7:10 hehehe
Ok I made this IMMEDIATELY. I used chicken because I don't have pork atm, and unfortunately I had to use rice seasoning instead of rice wine vinegar but it still came out delicious. I used chipotle honey in addition to the chili sauce in the sauce and it's amazing. My only problem is I can't eat it yet, I cooked it for work lunches over the next couple days!
I always watch your videos even if I am not interested in the food because you guys are always interesting. :) - Heidi
Love Korean street food ❤️ and sorted food 😂😂😂
So do we! What other Korean street food would you recommend?
SORTEDfood please do kimchi ramen!! Idk if its authentically korean but I have it a lot (i live in Singapore) and would love to know how to make it at home
Yesss! Great twist on korean food ;)
Looks really good, I can't wait to try it out!
Let us know how it goes!
Great little recipe and ideal for using up any fresh veg you have. I'm giving veganuary a go and will definitely try this later in the week fort my 1st shot at cooking tofu as I think this glaze will work really well. Sorted.
This looks great. Will try it, just with tofu instead. Thanks!
Never stop uploading
I’d love to see your take on the traditional Dutch kale mash thing we eat. Stamppot Boerenkool met Worst.
Yum !My fav rice bowl has to be chicken manchurian ! An Indo-Pak Chinese dish which has NIL Chinese roots :P It's ketchupy, tangy, sweet chicken. Delish !
When Ben said gochujang, I died a little inside😂 It's go(o kinda like in "dock")-choo-shung (except the sh sound needs to be softer, like a French j would sound). Kinda hard to explain, the o as in "dock" isn't quite right as well, but idk if that o sound (the correct one) does even exist in English😅
So...this is Bibimpap? Level it up by adding a sunnyside up fried egg 👍. Wait, I just had breakfast...why am I hungry again? SORTEDfood I blame u for this 🤣
Oh man, I would have gotten a lot more gochujang in there. Can't get enough of that spicy paste.
always so nice to see you faces, boys!
can i request a Filipino food challenge for future episodes? hahaha much love from the Philippines!
I am Korean and love this video 😘
I never had korean food , but I will definitely try this out this weekend.
Would chicken go with the dish instead of pork ?
Yep... or a meaty white fish. Both compliment the flavours of the fermented chilli paste, honey, soy and vinegar.
Thanks :D I will try it out
I mean... I don't know if it's Korean street food nor a Korean dish but it is kind of Korean inspired? with some of the seasonings that Korean people love to use on a daily basis like gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and rice wine vinegar; some of the cabinet essentials. Lettuce, bean sprout, and cucumber are also a very likely choice to top a Korean dish because it has a very easy access but radish I find to be quite rare here. Maybe an addition of carrot be more common and add a touch of color. I think what parts this recipe from "traditional" Korean meal is the different type of cut with the pork and the radish and that's about it!
Ben is like the kid in school that will feel super proud of himself when he answers a question correctly 😂😂
Are you guys planning on bringing the SORTEDfood app onto the play store for android devices?
I had Porchetta and Coleslaw for lunch, I kinda want this now too.
Please make more brazilian food!!
I’m brazilian but I need help learning how to cook it hahah
Can you use any other kind of meat such as chicken or beef ? And what part would you recommend buying for this such as chicken breast or thigh etc...
I was skeptical when you at first basically steamed the pork, but I think I may try this
Hi! I'm vegeterian and I was wondering if I could substitute pork with tofu? Or maybe something else?
Mmmm that looks so tasty x
If you want this to taste REALLY Korean, add 2 or 3 cloves of diced garlic (to taste) and like 2 or table spoon of ginger or enough to taste. And don't skip on gochujang. If you want to it taste Korean at all get some gochujang. It's good to have in your cupboard to spice anything up
YES the garlic and ginger combo is so important
To all the people complaining about this not being authentic Korean, you clearly didn’t listen to the first 20 seconds. Jamie said “...Korean INSPIRED...”, as in, inspired by, not a copy of. Jeez, settle down and eat a snack!
looks delicious and easy
So very much similar to Japanese donburi? BTW if you were to check out shokugeki no soma/ food wars: make their plum sauce with dried, sliced and fried plums/peaches.
I feel like it's really unnecessary for non Korean people to be really offended that this isn't "authentic" Korean food lol. I can see some Korean inspiration, although I can see how people are confused as to what exact Korean street food this was inspired by. I've never seen anything like it, lol. But it looks great, and I see the Korean inspiration in there. Good job. :)
What is the minimum chilli paste you could use? Cause I'd definitely like to try this, but my family doesn't like spicy foods
Would this work with tofu? Trying to eat less meat this year! Looks so yummy :D !!
Looks delicious and for sure will fit my student budget !
Brilliant! You could even get all your friends to chip in and scale up the recipe as needed
SORTEDfood I'm on it!
Tasty, regadless of authenticity. Heat that bowl to keep your dinner warm right to the end.
This looks delicious! 🤤🤤 Id love to see some type of buddah bowls created x
As a Korean, I approve this meal
Looks really good and an easy access version of bibimbap!
I am always in for more pork recipes
Check out www.lovepork.co.uk they have LOADS!
One question. What dish was this inspired by? Because I'm native Korean but I have no idea where this came from.
Exactly my thought I can't think of any Korean dish that even similar to what they are making neither this is a Korean street food
1:08 am @ Philippines. I AM SOOOOOOO HUNGRY HUHUHUUHU!!!!
Could you use this with different protein? Like shrimp or tofu?
Jamie : if you come to Baltimore please hit me up. We need to have a photo together (every time I comment on the Sortedfood videos everyone says we look alike) and indulge in a delicious bourbon and obviously tacos.
Wishing you and yours the very best,
Benjamin McGinty - one of y'alls biggest fans!
Wonderful Korean flavors. You should colab with Mangchi.
I can see Jamie's face went "Oh GOD enough with the UMAMI, Ben."
Would you be able to do this but with tofu instead? If so, would the recipe be followed exactly or are there parts that need to be changed?
Chelsea Rachel Medina I would coat the firm tofu in a bit of flour before cooking to be able to create a crust to hold the sauce.
I just had an impulse to start studying plumbing so I can work with you guys... (and maybe eat your leftovers)
Do some Scottish food. I got your back James my man. Barry's my favourite though.
Ben was especially cute in this episode 😮😍
You should check the subtitles at the beginning. "Hello, we're salty food" definitely should be the new greeting, though.
Love it
Does it have to be a non-stick pan for the soy/lime?
