#JusticeForMike?!?!😬
Hi, Mike.
100% #JusticeForMike. Been watching for well over a decade at this point, and Mike needs to have more confidence about his skills! He routinely pulls off things that are absolutely creative, high-skill, and just bonkers and has really stopped playing safe in the last few years.
It's pretty clear from the comments that Ben owes Mike a substantial apology. #JusticeForMike
As with most episodes. Even when he wins I scream for justice in his own eyes, man has no self confidence!
Mike always seems to get shafted...#JusticeForMike!
Awwww, poor Mike. They all did great, but doing a baked Alaska in an air fryer is CRAZY. He'd have been my winner.
Most of Barry’s flavours came out of a jar
@@14rs2 Exactly! I've rewatched this thrice now and can't understand what was so impressive about Barry's items that beats an air- fryer Baked Alaska! Came down here to see if anyone else was bugged by Barry using so many items straight out of the jar as major components of his finished items! There was so much technique and culinary skill that went into Jamie and Mike's dish! I feel about as gutted as poor Mike looked. He deserved second place, at least! I'm tired of Barry getting so much leniency.
I'm stunned that Mike and Jamie made each of those items in an air fryer! I'm now thinking about making a mini beef Welly this week! And Mike's amazing baked Alaska!
Absolutely agree.
Ebbers was the judge.Barry would have to really mess the dish up for Ebbers to put the seafood dish in last place.
Kush looking positively knackered and like he hasn't slept in a few days saying "I'm a father now, I've warmed up a bit." is just perfect 😂
As a trained pastry chef, making a Baked Alaska in an air fryer is absolutely insane. The fact that Mike pulled it off is an automatic win in my book. Just saying.
He did both the sugar syrup and sponge in the air fryer and lost to Barry who just slapped jarred sauces on pieces of fish and overcooked the prawns.
Honestly.... all 3 won today.... this was just absolutely impressive and i'm stunned
But Mike deserved first place.
thats exactly how i feel.. all 3 won.
Agreed they all did amazing this challenge was so much fun
@@tigrezangel Disagree, he should have been 2nd, Beef Welly in an AF in an hour is unheard of. It's hard to tell from video alone but Mikes sponge still didn't look completely cooked, that might have been a factor.
Agree - I don’t think they’re normal anymore. Well done lads!
Should have been Mike. Baked Alaska in an air fryer?!?! The idea alone deserves to win.
I think its risk and reward. Maybe the flavours weren't quite there when compared to the beef welly which is equally insane to attempt in an hour let alone in an air fryer. Maybe the Beef welly just tasted better at the end.
Yeah, but still, one of the elements he didnt do himself. If he had done the icecream, for sure he should have won.
I just love how it was typical Mike.
"How did you do it?"
"I don't know!"
"Can you do it again?"
"I don't know!!"
I wouldn't even think of the concept of making a cake in a air fryer, let alone a baked alaska.
@@TheMooseFromTheRoom Jamie didn't make the pastry either. Barry didn't make any of his sauces.
Mike does the most creative thing he can think of, and then loses to quantity and meat. It’s a Sorted tradition.
Right?!?! And then Mike doubts himself sometimes, we all do, and I see this adding to that. He’s amazing and doesn’t get the recognition. I think everyone just expects Barry to do less well and when he does amazing he wins. And Jamie kinda follows his specific path, he does an awesome job, no shade, I just don’t think he is quite as creative as the others most of the time
Its in the playbook as a specialty
Mikes wasn’t very creative. Pretty basic dish, just different. Jamie’s was actually a new take on a classic
@@Smithy250 But this is a challenge about pushing the limits of the air fryer. In those terms, a baked alaska is nearly unfathomable. Meat, pastry, mushroom and veg are all air fryer staples.
Ben you are wrong. Mike wins! #JusticeForMike
For an Air Fryer Battle the person that uses the AF the worst, or least creatively, should lose.
Getting second for "Good ingredients" with simple pairings might have made sense in a generic challenge, but the Alaska was a much more impressive use of the AF.
100% agree with you on this!! Its not best food, it should be for best use of AIR-FRYER!!!
Worst part is just pairing pre-bought ingredients and so call flavor bombs lol!!
@vatsan2483 didn't Mike also use premade ingredients?
Most of what Barry had with flavour came out of a jar as well
@@userhjajajaj-pf3ov The Ice Cream? Sure, but the "Alaskan AF" impressiveness wasn't "Ice Cream goes well with Sponge", it was "you cooked a bloody Alaskan in an AF?"
@@userhjajajaj-pf3ov Yeah but Mike utilized some really impressive cooking techniques. Barry basically threw some expensive ingredients together.
Mike’s creativity is outstanding! I could never imagine you could do that in the air fryer
Apart from Jamie Oliver did one in an airfryer a few weeks ago on his Channel 4 airfryer series!
@@willcad we don't have channel 4 in Ukraine :)
I would have gone Mike, Jamie, and then Barry. What Mike accomplished was nothing short of a miracle, only closely rivaled by Jamie.
Brief:- _Create something wonderful and magical with the air-fryer._ Baked Alaska in an AIR-FRYER?!! is as wonderful and magical as it gets. Mike was robbed.
Come on guys! Mike made the most unlikely dish, beautifully. And in an air fryer. All three were good dishes but Mike made the most out there dish in an air fryer!
As much as I respect Ben in our industry I do not agree here. Barry's seafood tapas really was just using an air fryer as an air fryer to cook things. The other two boys went the extra mile. Both are very technical dishes that had a lot of moving parts. A baked Alaska that survives hot studio lights, pictures, and then still being ready for service is no mean feat. Mike should be proud as that is a victory on its own. For that it should be first place. The wellie was a little under done for my liking. I saw no real border on the meat as it was very rare. Very good effort but second place.
A welli is usually seared and done in an oven. An airfrier is an oven. The searing part was not so great but covered by the pastry. Barry did the searing part on the tuna (and maybe the scampies) too, but had nothing to cover it. Mikes dish is also mostly made in an oven. The tricky part was the browning of the mirange, and its lucky it worked out. But Barry making 7 dishes at once outdid himself. The dishes were also quite diverse snd used different technics (frieing in oil, cooking in sauce, searing, baking). The creative part alone, thinking of 7 dishes and fitting it into a narrow timeslot and airfrier.
Yeah the other dishes were great, but you are not doing Barry justice. Thats cheff level.
Gotta give props to Mike for having the most absolutely screaming mad idea out of the bunch.
But then again, getting a wellie to a perfect medium using only an air fryer is crazy impressive.
Getting a wellie to perfect medium is impressive, doing it in an air fryer without having rested the beef before cooking to bring the centre up to room is crazy, doing it all in an hour is damn near miraculous.
And what is getting sugar to the perfect temperature for the Italian meringue or baking a sponge cake using only an air fryer if not crazy impressive?
@@YaaLFH I mean, the air fryer does have a temperature setting and I believe Mike was using a probe.
@@darthplagueis13 Well exactly the same can be said about Jamie and his beef, that's one.
Second, the temperature on the air fryer does not mean the contents will be heated to that exact temperature in a few minutes.
@@YaaLFH u sound bitter becos op praised Jamie for something u think is not impressive
like pls, let this person appreciate without questioning . like write a separate comment if u like Mike's more.
This was such an impressive performance by all the Normals, but Mike really, truly should have taken the win on this one.
Most creative use of an air fryer is definitely Mike. Most bang for the hour, Barry by far. Most fusion, Jamie. All three were super impressive! It's so much fun watching long-time friends fiercely competing against each other, excelling & being supportive of each other. I hope my sons have friends like you all.
Can't believe Mike didn't win this one, even more stunned that he came last??! Behind pre made jars of stuff dumped on fish??? The guy successfully made a baked Alaska in a freaking air fryer, that's incredible!! #justiceformike
I feel Mike was hard done by here. Jamie and Mike put the AF beyond what many thought you could do. Yes, Barry's flavours were good, but his recipes were simple and didn't really test the Air Fryer in any way. The one thing he did use was to sear the tuna and that wasn't very good. In terms of expectations of the recipes in the air fryer and results, Barry was the least creative.
Ben constantly judges Mike super harshly, genuinely seems like he doesn't like him while at the same time Ben is constantly propping Barry up on a pedestal.
Agree, Jamie and Mike really tested the range of an air fryer. Barry was able to turn out seven dishes because they're simple. The fact that he only needed one air fryer to complete all seven speaks volumes, in my opinion. Mike should've gotten the W, I hope he sees the comment section cheering for him!
Justice for Mike! he was clearly the winner. making a baked Alaska in an air fryer?! That is bloody impressive and something one would not easily think of easily. Second is Jamie because that too was very impressive. Last place goes to Berry, not for lack of effort or anything, but simply in comparison to those incredible achievements of the other two.
Ben's the "loser".
Mike made a baked alaska in an air fryer!!! Little harshs to call him the "loser"... kinda feels petty on Bens part.
I'm ok with Jaimie as the winner or even a 2nd place, but there's no way Barrys 'dump pre-made sauces on seafood and warm them up' approach should've been in 2nd place.
I always respect the hell out of Mike in these battles because he always does something crazy and bold, regardless of his confidence levels
Mike is my winner hands down. A baked Alaska is difficult in a traditional oven, but in an air fryer? What a feat! He was technically impressive.
Jamie's was also really impressive and so was Baz's, but I could see all that working? Mike was creative and definitely won the air fryer battle.
I'm impressed by Mike. A Baked Alaska is the last thing i would expect someone being able to do in an air fryer.
Justice for Mike! Not just this time, either. He challenges himself to think outside the box and tries new dishes and ways of doing them. He keeps to the task and brief at hand. And he nails them.
JUSTICE FOR MIKE
Mike should’ve won that and Jaime in second this was a tough one to call but the baked Alaska was too impressive to lose tbh
I can understand giving Jamie the win, but Mike being last is untenable. Barry did things that are simple to do in an air fryer. Yes, he did 7 of them. However, Mike did something incredible with the Italian meringue and the sponge.
I’m sorry Mike should have won that, while simple dishes with great flavour would work for most battles this was about the equipment and what you can do with an air fryer and Mike did that the best. Barry just used the air fryer to warm things up, Mike said what’s the most challenging thing to cook in air fryer and went for it.
id have given a tie to Mike and Jamie. Both were equally impressive in different ways and really pushed the limits on what an air fryer can do. The spread Barry put together was impressive, but I don't think really pushed the air fryer out of what most people would be comfortable doing with it.
The fact that even Barry and Jamie were shocked Mike came last... Mike you did amazing the desserts always seem to get the short stick
Mike decided to become an alchemist by the look of the last few challenge dishes.
I think Mike was the most impressive here. Who honestly sees an air fryer and thinks baked alaska? And pulls it off? Incredible work. They honestly all did incredible in this challenge.
So impressed with Mike,it’s incredible what he accomplished
A baked Alaska isn’t easy flat out but the fact he did it in an air fryer is one of the most impressive things I’ve seen
Mike #1!!!!! How could a SUCCESSFUL air fried Baked Alaska lose?! Creative and brave to begin with as an idea, then a crazy skilful accomplishment as a result 👏👏
"I might be colourblind but it won't be blue" well there goes my drink😂
Mike was my winner because attempting a baked alaska in an air fryer is one thing, but to actually succeed... wow. Jamie's Wellington looked exceptional though. He really is the king of doing one thing very very well
No!! Baked Alaska in the air fryer should have won. Crazy impressive!
I have no doubt in my mind, my vote goes to Mike. Out of the box, challenging, brave and with a perfect result.
I love Ben, but he is nuts. Barry's was so simple; Mike pulled off a miracle with nary a Huttlestorm in sight. Justice for Mike!
I think Mike should have gotten that. Baked Alaska is one of the hardest dishes to make, and he made it in an AIR FRYER. That is some serious skills!
Mike is always the desert guy and usually they turn out fab. I love that he is pushing the limits of well, everything in this, even science. Deep down he's a mad scientist waiting for the opportunity. Mike, everything is your opportunity and I'm happy to see you rise to the occasion even if your cake did not. I'm always rooting for you, Mister!
That win was stolen from Mike! A baked Alaska is a UNEXPECTED dish from an air fryer. The guys should have a dessert air fryer battle that Mike gets to judge.
It should have been Mike for the win today, thinking completely outside the box and nailing it.
Justice for Mike!!!!
Nooo. Mike was robbed with that one. They were all Wonderful and impressive but Mike HAD to have won that.
Getting something that shouldnt be possible is way better than getting a lot of simple dishes IMO
Kudos to Mike for the idea and execution, loved Jaime’s beef as well
Definitely Mike with his baked Alaska. Who would have thought that possible in and AF.
They're all winners, in my eyes, but Mike and Jamie really nailed this one. Baz needs to start earning that apron. 😂😂😂
Mike should have won. I've been using air fryers for years and would never have imagined you could make a Baked Alaska in one. Barry did an amazing job doing so many dishes in an hour and Jamie's was the sort of dish you would expect to be able to do in an air fryer.
I tell you what, Mike has been smashing it of late
He really has!!
@@SortedFood So .......how did he lose to a couple of store-bought sauces and a chef who used a toaster oven?
"Lemons and capers, those British ingredients that definitely grow on our shores." Classic.
My mum has lemon and yuzu trees that I bought her, and she gets yields from both, and capers aren't hard to grow either.
Yes, we get a single yuzu per year, it still counts.
But you can do it, and I imagine Ben could too.
And still got second place. 🤷🏽♀️
Great air fryer battle , I have an idea for you, a series of battles where they have a chalkboard with a list of things they CANT make. Like Jamie can't use beef, or make a pickle. Force them out of their comfort zones on purpose. Sometimes that happens with limited ingredient battles, but give them unlimited pantry, but a "can't make" list. Great work, everuone.
Mike was robbed!! The absolute madman made a baked alaska in an air fryer!
With dishes of that quality, i dont think we can call anyone a "normal". Great job boys!
Yeah! I remember the first Sorted Foods video I watched had Mike in it and I thought "Oh he's a normal home cook like me!". All of the normals have waaaaay more food knowledge than I do. 😂
We need a spinoff channel "unsorted food" for a new group of normals.
Well done to all three but Mike got it to me. No one believed his would work and he pulled it off!
kush very quickly dropping by to let rveryone know of the slight thaw on his icy heart was an unexpected highlight
Seems like Mike loses a lot. Personally, I love his creativity and willingness to step outside his comfort zone.
Anyone can do a beef Wellington in an oven, but Baked Alaska is a challenge even in a regular oven.
Keep going Mike.
all the boys exceeded expectations for the challenge by FAR. this is probably the strongest competition with no clear loser or winner in a long time. i will say that imo Mike's dish was more impressive than Barry's and should have gotten at least 2nd. Barry's dish probably tasted good and it was obviously impressive that he did 7 things but 7 simple dishes doesn't outweigh 1 dish that we thought had no chance of working
Mike deserved that win for doing something that is difficult anyway & doing well in an air fryer
They've all been absolutely killing it lately. I am always impressed by Mike's creativity
Mike was the clear winner! His was such a unique idea and so well presented!
First really should have been Mike, to pull that off was wizardry.
No losers today! Very creative use of the appliance.
Ebbers is the loser for not saying to hell with the format this time, excellent work everyone, like a sane person would.
Of course there's a loser: Make deserved better. He made a baked Alaska, A BAKED ALASKA from scratch using an air fryer.
Mike was robbed AGAIN! He should have won for successfully doing something that's not trivial even in normal circumstances.
Jamie just did his usual big chunk of meat and a quick pickle.
Barry was using the easiest oven style air fryer, all his flavours came from jars and he still managed to under/overcook some.
#justiceForMike
I think that Mike is the winner 🏆 today!! Barry and Jamie dish were really impressive but to make a Baked Alaska in an air fryer…🤯.
That was such a clear W for Mike , plain robbery
I would say everyone's a winer today but Mike had to be the last one.
It's just that the effort other put into their dishes is not comparable. Everyone talking about a great achievement of making baked Alaska in air fryer, yes well done. However all he did was make a sponge in in and then finish up the frosting in it. And it took him an hour to the boot.
It was a dessert and it wasn’t a skills challenge. Plus, it was a dessert sugars a crutch.
Ben just doesn't like Mike. You can see it on his face every time Mike speaks.
@@johnjungkook2721 Yup. Been going on for years.
@@qiblik What effort took it to slap contents of a few jars on fish? Because that's all that Barry did.
Meanwhile Mike made sugar syrup and baked a cake.
Mike looked close to tears, I'd be too after a robbery like that 😭 Mike deserved that 100%
Barry did 7 but none of them were particularly inventive or spectacular. Mike's baked Alaska is SPECTACULAR.
"I'll leave the vodka for my thoughts" KILLED ME, relatable king
Mike killed it. I never thought an air fryer could do that!
I think Mike’s the winner with doing something so different.
Tie between Spaff and Mike on first.
Barry's 7 is great but these were far simpler applications.
Mike and Jamie pushed the boundary further. #JusticeForMike
Mike should have won the sous chef apron TBH. Creativity that is (surprisingly) well thought out, plus big risk taking!
An idea for a video is have a hiding competition. The boys pick one ingredient to hide as much of it in as many dishes such as carrots or a fruit... You lose if the chef guesses the ingredient... and the winner is one that hides the most of the ingredient in weight in their 3/5 course meal! Which means they have to use vegetables in sweet dishes and fruit in savoury dishes. There is a risk that if you use it too obviously you might get caught out!
While a laugh to see the boys trying to hide stuff in food and being creative but the real life application would be great knowledge for using up ingredients/sneaking fruit and vegetables in children's food as well as cost saving! Such as putting carrots etc in ragus to bulk it out!
Excellent video as always! :D
Commenting since this is actually an interesting idea and people notice.
+
Alternately, it might be fun if they did something like this but had to hide vegetables and other "healthy" things in foods that were then judged by some kids. I seem to remember them doing something vaguely similar in the early days, but it's been many years.
That's a very old-school, medieval court chef type of challenge, and I am *fully* behind it.
I made a chocolate sponge with beetroot earlier this year. It took six friends about 10 minutes to guess after I told them it contained a vegetable. If you knew then you could detect it, but it was quite subtle (but did help the texture).
Mike has been killing it lately! Well done!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Mike should have won! It’s amazing to see how much he had changed in just this year alone.
Good job all around🎉
Mike is definitely the winner in my book. Especially after just watching Try Guys phoning it in yesterday and Jonny and Ryans Baked Alaska abomination 😅
I'm in the Justice for Mike camp on this one - based on the brief of an air fryer challenge, his use of the air fryer (and pure creativity with it) is out of this world. And it isn't just "oh, great concept" - it WORKED. Everything you expect a baked alaska to be, this delivered.
My vote actually would go to Mike. He pulled off something quite unimaginable!
Also, anyone else feeling James withdrawal symptoms?…
100%, seriously impressive AF to imagine a indulgent desert with AIR-FRYER!!
Yeah, this is maybe the hardest battle to judge ever. Those all looked amazing and were actually pretty ambitious dishes. Poor Mike though, that would've won probably any other battle but Barry and Jamie really nailed equally challenging and ambitious concepts.
I literally love the show but always feel gutted for Mike, he is freaking amazing doing such out of the box / world stuff. Kudos Barry for using the air fryer well but I could have made 7 different flavours of popcorn or fries and ben would be gaga over it. Mike needs to be fairly judged
I love how Mike dreams big and then tries to make it happen, and he has had some absolutely stunning creations from these challenges.
Imagine making a Baked Alaska actually work in an air fryer and getting last place 😂😭 Poor Mike, but clearly all 3 of them nailed this one!
Mike's my winner. I could be influenced by watching the try guys attempt to make baked Alaska last night 😂
My wife says no one should be called a loser - you're all winners. But Mike, my man, you thought the most out of the box. You're our #1.
Had Mike as my winner, the others I can totally imagine in an air fryer.
100% man.. its got to be about pushing limits of air-fryer, not making the best dish with AIR-FRYER..
Hmmm, I'm not sure a loser is necessary. They all created spectacular dishes considering the brief. Maybe it shouldn't be win or lose. But similar to PIO, pass or fail. They all triumphantly passed in my eyes. Great job, gents!
Naa, we’ve been friends for too long… we need to know who the loser is every time 😂
@@SortedFood Hahahaha, alright!
Honestly one of the best showings from all the normals. So impressive how far the skills have come over the years. Well done!
Honestly, I think Mike should have won. Barry and Jaime did something that while difficult (for amount of dishes and general technique respectively) Mike was very outside of the box with what the air fryer could do.
I met my 1st cousin for the first time yesterday and she was talking about how amazing air fryers are. She is in her 80's and was so excited about finding air fryers and how versatile and amazing they are. She had just made cupcakes in them before we arrived. I love my air fryer too, as a disabled person, it makes life so much easier and theyre much safer compared to ovens for me too as a wheelie.
also much more eco-friendly (if you don't have a convection oven) as no gas is burned and much less energy is used... that's always a nice little bonus
@@LoFiAxolotl also more energy efficient over full-sized electric ovens
They're really just small countertop electric convection ovens (not as a point against them, they're amazing tools and pieces of engineering) with more convection due to the smaller size. The big positive of that is that they can basically do anything a full-size oven can do, just scaled down and sometimes a bit faster (you can do "air frying" in an oven, but it is just way less efficient), plus the accessibility benefits as you mentioned. The negative is mostly the capacity, of course.
@@Zelmel Though if you're mostly just cooking for one or two people, the smaller capacity can be a positive.
@@HumbleWooper Oh, for sure! In that case the issue ends up being adjusting recipes, especially if you're doing stuff like making bread.
12:09 Mike discovers light feature 💡💡💡
You're the Best ebbers! What would these guys do without you?
"OH YES IT DOES!" 😆
having to pick a first second third is so tricky. Id give it to mike, then jamie and then barry WITH the caveat that all 3 are unbelievably impressive. This is reafirming my opinions on air fryers
Mike for the win. Baked Alaska in an air fryer is gutsy.
The quick pickle strikes again!😂
Nicely done Mike, you could have drizzled Kahlua from the freezer over to help cool the sponge some more. But impressive result.
Mike ROBBED dhjfgdh
I can't remember the last time Ben gave Mike a win. I say that what Ben fancies is not as important as the specific stipulations of this challenge and the dish Mike pulled off within them, which Ben couldn't even say anything bad about.
This is a great point. 🙌
I was re-watching some older videos, and I realized I exaggerated a fair bit with the first sentence of my previous comment, or even misspoke. It's more like Mike has lost in cases where there's nothing wrong with his dish, more often than the other normals have.
