Thought so. That special attack you can do in the animal forms looks mostly similar to Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler's Mutant Power attack.
Plus similar effects for the boss foes when their health is nearly out, they'll flash and the flashing will speed up till they're beaten.

@Kev Walthall Keep in mind that most of the money goes into the intro so the rest of the cartton looks shoddy in comparison. (Think MegaMan!)

I wonder if this game was at all inspired by the myths surrounding Anunnaki and Atlantis. The vaguely Grecian looking God like beings combining humans with animals to make creatures that look like something out of greek, possibly celtic and japanese mythology, as not only hybrids but a sort of controlled lycanthropy.
The giant human looking Gods can turn out to be something different...in the end, the major boss's true form was basically the Kaiju/gargoyle influenced look of one of the winged Reptilians that David Icke talks about. Powerful shapeshifters and interdimensional entities, associated behind religion, royalty, and the ancient technology that could emulate magic or create such creatures as minotaurs or werewolves through advanced genetic eengineering.
The sinking of the Empire reminds me of not only Atlantis, who apparently sunk into the ocean because society was brought down by creating half human mutants to be slaves, but also was brought down due to other decadences, a theme reflected in the Biblical take on the great flood, which wiped out not only a morally corrupt humanity, but non human creatures known as Nephilim. Many conspiracy theorists link the Nephilim of the Bible with giants and demigods of other mythologies, which then can be linked to the alien Anunnaki of new age conspiracism. Same thing with such half human beings like minotaurs, centaurs, and satyrs, being genetic experiments to be used as slaves, soldiers, sex, and perhaps even food.
There's the idea that Anunnaki Empire was made primarily of 3 races-Reptilians, Giant (usually Nordic looking) humanoids, and Tall Grays. They came to mine gold from earth and used humans as slave labor. Although there are differing accounts to the specifics, some say the Anunnaki are all reptilians, while others say they are simply on the same side because they have similar mindsets and goals, while other say it could be some of both-some are one and the same, some just think a like, and some Anunnaki are very distantly related to reptilians.

Have you checked the MAME emulator? It handles a lot of the Konami chipsets.
Can you please link me to a Mame that isn't finnicky? I have tried so many different builds that let some games work and not others. Especially the X-Men game, none I got could make that one work

It kind of seems like people took the concept of Altered Beast and Bloody Roar, perhaps Thundercats, and tried to apply to a game with, vaguely, the style, story, and gameplay of battle toads and TMNT arcade.
Ya know, since everybody in the 80s and then 90s was trying to do their version of TMNT, X-men, and/or Power Rangers....although the whole Greek mythology angle makes me think of MLP, Pit, and Altered Beast.
The Bull/Minotaur looked a little silly when he was trampling his enemy. Where as the other guys just punch really quickly, he either looks like he's tripping on a banana peel, freaking out like he saw a spider ("eek, a spider" *stomp stomp*) or was throwing a temper tantrum ("Wah! Only half health? It's gonna take forever to beat this boss! Wah haaaaa!").
That being said, the game had voice acting, and although not good or in depth, is something you don't see in arcade games at this time.

No, it is not the US version. It does not have the boss rush on Stage 5.
@@littleblueriolu9093 Yep, this is the European version, which is in the middle of difficulty between the 3 versions(JAP, EU, US). Japanese version has traditional health bar, lives and no boss rush, European version has health draining, 1 life per credit and no stage 5 boss rush and US version has health draining, 1 life per credit and the stage 5 boss rush.
