This podcast is severely underrated
Let’s keep it that way so it stays underrated.
Best podcast rn imho.
Shhhhhh let's keep it that way
it's not "underrated" it's rated incredibly highly by most who see it, it's just "unpopular" which is what we all seem to be truly appreciating, because i also share that, but it isn't underrated.
@@artixah oh ok
One of the best Rick. Thank you so much.
Thanks for having Woody on, he’s one of those souls which have reached celebratory status who continues like he is exactly who he is. Doesn’t seem to be any real darkness or narcissistic ego underneath a film-able & seemingly lovable façade. I really look forward to hanging out with them at some point, hopefully he really is one of the truly benevolent ones of our mankind. And definitely a damn fine actor!
I love the intimacy of this podcast and the treasure trove of guests. This is like an elite and exclusive experience, I'm sort of mindblown that these videos don't get 100k views. I guess it's like anything else... sometimes very special things only resonate with a small number of people. Then again, it hasn't really been advertised that much, has it? Not sure. Regardless, I'm glad things are the way they are.

Jim Carrey next 🙏🏼

Wow he's got quite a singing voice, can't believe I've never heard him sing like that before. Thanks for this Rick!
I can't believe he mentioned Victoria. Incredible movie! I'd never heard of Lost In London either, definitely on my watch list now. Awesome
Thank you so much!
Interesting to learn more about Larry. Remember his Hustler store downtown Cincinnati.
This one was stellar. Made my drive on the 405 bearable....
Woody is down to earth, interesting and not boring and Rick interview style is calm and concise and does not need to talk about himself.
❤❤❤

Hi Rick,
I would much love to hear novelists and story writers in general on the podcast
In particular i'd be interested in hearing the point of view of long-time children's story writers. You've said in a podcast before, to Joe Rogan, that you never let your thoughts about what other people think change the art you make. Those of us who make art and stories for children are beholden to a massive number of constraints, one of which Ursula Le Guin stated as adults must not frighten a child except for VERY good reason. There is also the fact that each family, each parent and each child are different, and whatever form you give what you want children to see is constrained by the values and culture of the child's caretakers.
I'm finding that giving the ideas that spring forth a child-appropriate form is extremely challenging, and directly incompatible with your stance of not changing the work for the taste of others. Ursula Le Guin did say once that writing for children is a different form, and I believe that the huge number of constraints and the huge responsibility of how to be when a child gives you their attention are what make this so.
Other reasons that interviewing people who make art for children would be interesting are the ethics of youtube content creators who hyperstimulate children and get them hooked on their content. Online services and content creators predate on children's attention. There are psychological predators aplenty I think, and the very serious question of 'How is it worthwhile for a child to be helplessly stuck on a content loop of my creations good for them?' is not something that many of these people think about in terms of the opportunity cost that this kind of content causes to the child's growth.
Thanks for the podcast and sharing good things on the internet
