If you like snorkeling, please try Surin and Similan islands. I like Surin as there is an old community of local people call Morgan tribe there. Koh Racha and Koh Kradarn are not known by foreigners. These two are quite calm. Kao Sok national park is a must for man-made lake.

Tarutao island once is used to be the prison for Thai political prisoners. They had been treated badly so I didn't doubt where the curse is from.
