I need to thank God for my Father. He always said he doesn't have property to leave behind but he all give us the best of education to be able to take care of ourselves. In fact, he raised all his daughters Lil 'men'. Capable of taking care of ourselves.
He gave us the mindset to never tolerate 'trash' from any man.

It's not an awkward mindset. Biblically, marriage was to be a forum for the perfection of the will of God. This is the only institution where people should offer their body and soul to each other, confide in one another and become prayer partners. Bitterness and divorce is so rampant because many do not first of all know what marriage is all about. Let's go back to the Holy Scriptures.

My take on the issues of marriage and divorce, is that the law should strengthen the women and children bargaining power when it comes to the issue divorce. We as men,sometimes put up selfish claims and allegations in order to walk out of marriage.

My father kept us away from our mother after they separated just to spite her. knowing the anguish she would be going through not seeing her children.
In his quest, he didn't care how it affected his own children. Our mom bought us toys one time and he gave them out but he never bought us a single toy till he passed 2007. I feel hurt just talking about this incident and it's over 20 years. She earned better but we couldn't receive anything from her nor see her until I went off to boarding school.
We had a better life, food, and housing when my mom came home after he passed on.
I know I'm still affected by this, I'm thinking of getting counseling.
Its a pity that innocent children always suffer for the sins of their irresponsible parents.

Even though all this divorce whala scares me but then I still want to get married but not to be a full house wife. Both parties need to work. I can't imagine myself buying foodstuffs and waiting for hubby to come back home to pay everytime. Any decent work, beacuse love isn't enough and we can't tell who will change first, man or woman.
The justice court is my latest series program. I stumbled into it over a week ago and since been watching. Judge Funmi is indeed a judge. Divorcing is cheap in this part of the world and I see it strengthening irresponsible men. Once he knows he can pay N7,500/month, he walks away and leave the woman with the troubles! The court should make it more expensive. Make divorce seekers pay through their noses. Only when they are willing to pay in excess, would we realize they truly seek separation for what it is worth!

When a man easily accepts signs of infidelity from his wife, he's acknowledging he did something bad enough to push his wife into someone else's arms. I'm guessing he did some horrible things making her confident enough to acknowledge stepping out. Many of you condemning the man...... what can a man with a take home salary of #30k p/m do for 2 kids and a wife? The man was honest and said he could not afford to pay for private school. The woman was caught based on telephone chat talking romance with another man......the whole problems is due to economic hardish in the country. If the man earns a good and the wife also take home good money, things will be different. Above all, family is the responsibility of both parties to care for the children. The pressures of finance has sent many young men to the grave. A wise woman will support her partner in all areas to make their home a better place for kids. We Africans are coping marriage systems that we don't understand. Marriage is contract.... check with any European.

That's why I said as Africans we copy wrong systems from the West. If our nation is functioning like in the time of Awolowo, you don't have to pay school fees for kids up to secondary school. My father withdrew me from private school in early 80's when he couldn't afford it anymore with distance problems. Guess, if this guy pass on tomorrow due to stress, that's when the woman will appreciate his little effort while alive. The dynamic in present day required woman to contribute in the house when you know the one you married is not very good financially.
