This world is a wonderful place. I faced this situation 37 years ago. I was deceit by a man for marriage, A whole diplomat, he never wanted me to further my education, he got me pregnant, defiled all the education promises. I.left with 8 month pregnancy, After giving birth to my son ,I went back to school acquired my certificates, had a good job. After 7 years, I got married to someone, who say he was adopting my son. When my son was taking 1st position in class, he started mistreatment, To cut the long story short ,I left with my so. Today he is 37 years, certified engineer. Australia citizen. All the X are fighting for recognition. My X husband has given him a piece of land in Cameroon. The father is telling me his own stuff. So never back down for your child. God will always do a new thing, whether sick or healthy. Keep on.

That man is totally disinterested... I'm not sure marriage counseling will get him to care... for all we know he may have started another family wherever it is he's always traveling to. Sickle cell care is a lifelong care, but of emergency right now is this bone complication...more likely oesteomyelitis... and it needs to be handled properly once and for all so it doesn't end up in amputation. Diet is an important integral part of the care of the stickler, as well as routine check-ups in a standard Sickle Cell care clinic.
Women abandon their children bcos of poverty mostly...Not Marriage. Even this mother, she has no where and no resources to go anywhere. She basically came to ask the court to beg her husband not to throw her and her son out of the house.

I am very sure that wound is Osteomyelitis (Ulcer of the bone). That wound is not healing because the bone is decayed. I will advice you see an orthopedist. I am a sickle cell patient and I had same wound and I was dressing it for 2 years. It did not heal until I had a surgery to remove the decayed bone in my leg. Go to an orthopedist, they will tell you to do an X-ray and the root cause will be revealed, followed by a solution. Delay is dangerous o to avoid amputation. Also, please check if he is diabetic. That may also hinder the healing of the wound. Take good care of yourself.
I had same treated it for over 4yrs but finally healed through the help of GOD with a very strong antibiotic. But it really costs a whole lot and needs to hero away from germs
Someone that should be in jail, we're sending to marriage counseling. Beating someone till they faint is a criminal offense. We need to start addressing these criminal acts and stop excusing bad behaviour!
Am so proud of her for standing up to her son unlike some others who in the guise of protecting their marriage turn a blind eye to their kid's maltreatment.

Most step parents are not caring to kids who are sick only direct parents can sacrifice and do what it takes to care for sickly kids. Sickle cell complications are very expensive to treat, my husband had this type of sore as a result of SS complication 2 years ago,and he dresses it everyday.Nothing is cheap about the disease.My heart goes out to this woman, may the Lord send her help.
My dear, your husband’s body is lacking magnesium that is why the body isn’t healing. If he can get some from the chemist to consume, it would help him greatly. And if he can get some in liquid form to spray on the affected area. I will speed up the healing process greatly. Sending heath and healing to your household.
How is his leg now? Leg ulcer may take some time to heal. Good diet, lots of fruit intake, less stress on the leg and proper dressing of the leg by burns and plastic specialists among others help speedy healing of the wound. May God heal everyone with such wounds in Jesus name, Amen. 🤗🥰

The last time tears rolled my eyes was when my uncle died. I mean, he was the closet of all my relatives, so I felt the pain of his departure to the extent that I shed tears........... But after watching this case, I wasn't able to control myself than to cry. I cried watching especially after the few seconds pause of the judge while holding her jaw and immediately left for a short break. I knew she was trying to control her emotions. The man actually doesn't sound/look like someone who wouldn't have cared. Taking care of a Sickle Cell Child is very expensive. Even well to do Families feel the strain let alone a House where one of the parents have to hawk to earn money. I'm not justifying the man's action but He obviously has he hands tied and so, he's frustrated.

It is so sad that the husband couldn't acknowledge his step son's illness "sickle cell" neither the leg injury he also sustained.. My sincere sympathy for this lady for being alone in all these despite even being married...very sad indeed!!!!

As a haematologist i understand what sickle cell families go through. I see this everyday. Judge Funmi's judgment on the matter was spot on. Those of you saying she was wrong don't seem to understand what that family is passing through. Sometimes the hate comes from one parent and I have seen a case where the Child hates the parents so much because she blames them for all that she is going through. That family is passing through a lot. Jail is not going to solve anything. Thumps up to judge Funmi for your approach to the case you have really given the law a human face.
Sickle cell leg ulcer or osteomyelitis is very difficult to treat. He needs to go to the teaching hospital where he can receive multidisciplinary attention. How can we donate? This got me really tearing . God bless all mothers. This woman is a strong woman.

If it were my child, I would never abandon him no matter how old he was.

This made me soo teary and heart broken. I believe help has finally located the Mum and Son. He's got leg ulcer which is a side complication of having the Sickle cell Anemia disorder. Sickle cell is hard on the patient, siblings and parents. The husband is just frustrated as well, and the financial incapability worsens the case and hence transfer of aggression. I'm actually so proud of the Mum for standing Strong "Abiamo Tooto" and thanks to Justice Funmi, May God continually enrich your purse ma. And to the boy, he seems very brilliant and believe he's got a good future ahead.
I had to watch this in the toilet at the office because I needed to let out the tears 😭😭😭 This woman is a heroine and I pray this guy will live a healthy and happy life and grow old to reward his mother's labour and love.

The last time tears rolled my eyes was when my uncle died. I mean, he was the closet of all my relatives, so I felt the pain of his departure to the extent that I shed tears........... But after watching this case, I wasn't able to control myself than to cry. I cried watching especially after the few seconds pause of the judge while holding her jaw and immediately left for a short break. I knew she was trying to control her emotions. She is not just a good judge but a mother too. thank you, Madam Fumi.

Taking care of a Sickle Cell Child is very expensive.
Even well to do Families feel the strain let alone a House where one of the parents have to hawk to earn money.

We also heard from the woman's narration that the man wasn't a bad husband prior to the Boy coming to live with them.
It is so sad that the husband couldn't acknowledge his step son's illness "sickle cell" neither the leg injury he also sustained.. My sincere sympathy for this lady for being alone in all these despite even being married...very sad indeed!!!!

As a haematologist i understand what sickle cell families go through. I see this everyday. Judge Funmi's judgment on the matter was spot on. Those of you saying she was wrong don't seem to understand what that family is passing through. Sometimes the hate comes from one parent and I have seen a case where the Child hates the parents so much because she blames them for all that she is going through. That family is passing through a lot. Jail is not going to solve anything. Thumps up to judge Funmi for your approach to the case you have really given the law a human face.
Sickle cell leg ulcer or osteomyelitis is very difficult to treat. He needs to go to the teaching hospital where he can receive multidisciplinary attention. How can we donate? This got me really tearing . God bless all mothers. This woman is a strong woman.

The boy is sick…where is his human compassion and empathy?!! “With a national median life expectancy of 42-47 years, people with sickle cell disease (SCD) face many challenges, including severe pain episodes, stroke, and organ damage.” So sad indeed. If it were my child, I would never abandon him no matter how old he was.

This made me soo teary and heart broken. I believe help has finally located the Mum and Son. He's got leg ulcer which is a side complication of having the Sickle cell Anemia disorder. Sickle cell is hard on the patient, siblings and parents. The husband is just frustrated as well, and the financial incapability worsens the case and hence transfer of aggression. I'm actually so proud of the Mum for standing Strong "Abiamo Tooto" and thanks to Justice Funmi, May God continually enrich your purse ma. And to the boy, he seems very brilliant and believe he's got a good future ahead.
