Thank you so much for your review. I am tempted to buy it not because of the Utawarerumono-franchise which I never heard of ... man, I tried to pronounce the name in Japanese from the Google-Translate »listen to«-function (うたわれるもの) ... ... anyway but I like Muso-games. Most prominent of course the series »Dynasty Warriors«. But there's an other important aspect to that type of game: the upcoming (who knows when) »Persona 5 Scramble« seems also to be a Muso-game. And since I personally feel »Persona 5« is (one of the) the best JRPG(s) I've ever played (arguable) I of course will play »S« ... and I need to get into the mood of Muso-games again. Again: Thanks for the review! :-)
Eh I bought it last night seeing it on sale for $20 US dollars. 40 if you want all the content ( which I normally do ) I love musou games and lots of characters so I’m enjoying it but when it come to hack n slash I’m not That hard to please 😏. Good Review here!
Man, this is a tough one. The two Utawarerumono games I've played (Deception and Truth) are all-time classics in my opinion, and it would be cool just to spend some more time in that world. However this game is so completely different, and with the butchered story I'm worried it might be more annoying than enjoyable.
Never heard of this franchise but this looks like something I'd get a real kick out of. Shame it sounds like it's not very newbie friendly and had something of a narrative massacre. Oh, and Jar Jar Binks IS hilarious.
I suggest not to, as the anime changes several parts from the source material, especially the ending. This will contradict a lot of things in Mask of Truth.
Ougi was an absolute beast to learn and play as in mask of truth and deception, hearing he's as hard to use here as there both attracts and repels me. I'm not too big a fan of musou games, but i do want to check this out once i get the funds. I like that they still implement the scrolls in this game, as it made the original game really fun to utilize. ...Also, your butchering of the names both amuses me, and makes me rage. Good review though. I was wondering if i should pick this up, so i suppose i'll wait for a bit of a price drop.
I just finished Mask of Deception, which I enjoyed despite the poor pacing and grating 'comedy'. Seeing the same story as a musou kinda hurts my head. Given that I found the best part of MoD was the SRPG sections and the pretty good combat system, I doubt replacing those sections would work well.
JazzGB the best part of MoD was the story bro, please play the Mask of Truth hopefully you’ll enjoy that more because the story is more fleshed out. I agree though some of the comedy is sub par at best, but treat MoD more as the character development and world building and try out MoT with that in mind
The thing that everyone should be excited for is the remake of the original game coming next year. That game has by far the better story, not that I disliked the two new ones. But the first one has much better pacing and if I remember correctly less fanservice just for the sake of fanservice. Which is weird cause the original game was a hentai game haha. I think the remake is due around the same time as FF7 remake which is a horrible release time but what can you do!
@@tatsualbert5266 Yep, from what I remember about the first one though it actually paced the game play and the story better.I am not 100% certain though its been awhile.
Martino Magic I honestly miss and wish I played them a bit slower because I want something similar or as good but the bar has been raised to high with these games 😂
I really hope my love for the "Utawarerumono" franchise manages to get me to overcome my disdain for Tamsoft. I really want to just enjoy this game but the ever-looming Tamsoft label hovering over everything is just such a slap in the face. Oh well, I still want to support Aquaplus and this series, even if their latest ventures have been rather iffy. But yeah, I figured the game wouldn't be that newcomer-friendly. I kind of got that impression when the first trailer the game got opens by outright spoiling the ending to "Mask of Deception". So I'm not really surprised it ended up being a rather haphazardly done retelling of that entry. Though one thing that's been on my mind is why they didn't instead do the first "Utawarerumono" or "Utawarerumono 2" as a whole. Or even just mixed both of them together so all the favorites would be here. Budgetary reasons aside, it's possible that Aquaplus is testing the waters to see how well something like this would do by only covering the safest entry to the series. But that's just baseless speculation at this point.
Reviewing Japanese games, you might as well learn to pronounce the language. 🤷♀️ Speaking the language is hard, learning to pronounce it isn't. Just kind of disrespectful to continue to mispronounce it. Might learn something new and interesting along the way? 🤔
If you say so. I wouldn't be so quick to assume everybody shares the same struggle or lack of struggles you do though dude. I've tried to get this word, and have had people parse it out phonetically for me and I often struggle to even make sense of where my pronunciation is wrong, but if you want to try and correct it, by all means, I'm open as I have been to learning, but I can't guarantee its something I'll be able to grasp as well as execute saying in a sentence.
Underwater Ray Romano
Great review!
I'm new to the series but I'm into this kind of musou gameplay. I'll give this game a try.
a really good musou game for fans of musou but really a pity for not local coop but in this days its to be expected :(
thanks for the review, I think I'm gonna get it, I love musou ^^
wow the demo just came out!

“Sometimes I think Jar Jar Binks is hilarious”
I’m rolling, great review
You're kinda saying it right, it's basically pronounced like it's written
ned993 Americans have a hard time pronouncing easy words too so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he doesn't say it perfectly.

There used to be SRPG spinoffs to games. I guess over time, that got replaced with Warriors spinoffs.
Ghad, I need a pc port so bad
What game is your PS4 theme?
Labyrinth of refrain.

Who play musou game with block?
The block and counter mechanics in senran kagura burst renewal added a lot to the gameplay, especially when dealing with meatier enemies.
Another informative review!

I agree on how they ruined the story, it's like someone is only telling/spoiling it to a friend that doesn't want to play it..
This game looks amazing. Definitely going to have to buy it. Especially for those adorable loli twins.
To solve the story problem people could watch the anime to fill in the blanks.

Martino Magic plus it’ll be back to the original style of the game which is all story and not as much gameplay but ngl that’s why I loved MoD and MoT

Martino Magic looking forward to the remake of the 2003 game or the original anime
Lol, that ending cutscene

shadowmaksim what are your issues with Tamsoft?
