I have to say Mortismal, if you are ever lacking for content creation ideas, you could do LOADS of Pathfinder builds and we would all enjoy them. I asked before you and you gave me a quick comment but a Wolverine/Shifter type build would be amazing.
Barbarian 2/Shifter 18(Wolverine/Dinosaur/Spider? it's been a bit since I ran it) that goes Demon -> Gold Dragon makes the Gold Dragon form really nasty in combat while still giving a thematic playthrough. The gist is that with Wolverine Shifter and Barb lvls stack for the purposes of selecting Rage Powers to grant pounce while in GD form and makes the most of Demon Forms/Demon Rage until you get to GD.

I would cheerfully sell my soul for you to start doing build videos. I know they're all over, but everyone else is always so focused on 'numbers go up'. We need more people who can help us get lost in a great *class fantasy* build! Edit: Also, you're so good at explaing the HOW. Other build videos just assume the viewer has an encyclopedic knowledge of all interacting mechanics. The breakdown is so helful! Entertaining too.
I don't even play this game but I listen and like anyway. Keep growing the channel. I really appreciate how you break things down and enjoy your reviews (many on games i do play).
Love this! I used your original build as the basis of my most recent MC and I had a blast. I went Trickster into Legend mythic paths to push all the numbers into bonkers territory, but your O.G. will always be the coolest one to me. Thanks for sticking with the coverage on this game. It’s become my favorite of all time too, and it really means a lot that you choose to spend your time with this title when I’m sure you could push bigger view counts by covering more popular titles.
I know you said you are basically done outside a few other things, but would love for you to break down the hows of these builds. Just about every person that covers or reviews this or kingmaker mentions the steep learning curve of the game, and the feat tax of a lot of classes, but outside of specific builds, no one seems to go over why you take the feats for a gish, 2h, caster etc. game is so feat based and the stacking of feats is insanely important, as these builds suggest but it'd be nice to understand why and not just how to build.
I agree with this very much. Like some of the feat progression stuff makes automatic sense: I use bow, I get the bow specific feats like precise shot for example. It is even recommended by the game. But being aware that dodge is required for crane style, which is used to increase AC, is way too specific and "out there". What are good AC values to aim for? What other stats are important, which ones aren't? I know that some of this is build specific, but it feels like I am playing with half-the deck uncovered.
@@lamename2010 yep, a ton of mechanics are hidden in feats or dips, and taking the wrong feat or ignoring the next step to make that feat truly useful can destroy your build.
I’m glad you uploaded this I’ve been wanting a sword saint aeon build because it’s my favorite class and I want to do an aeon play through. The only one I was able to think of was combining it with trickster for the crit bonuses. Will definitely try this when I finish my current playthrough.
So funny. Just when I needed this video the most, here it is! I just started Wrath of the Righteous two days ago and I’ve been referencing the old Sword Saint build. Thanks!
As someone who is currently playing Kingmaker as a Sword Saint, and just not fully understanding how things work with the class, this video helped me A LOT! Thank you very much.
Currently doing a playthrough following this build! Honestly I made some mistakes early on thinking I knew what I was doing so just making it a pure Sword Saint now but still coming back here for advice on good feats to pick, thank you for the guidance.
Hi Mortym, i just wanted to say that your videos are the reason i decided to play Pathfinder WotR, and thanks to your specific build videos, i was finally able to beat option paralysis in character creation. I’m about 10 hours into the game and so far I’m greatly enjoying it, I’m playing it turn based taking my time to learn the system, as i feel real time with pause its a little bit to hectic for me right now.
Once again, after watching your videos, I will start a new run. This time I'll probably disable/toy box the crusade management. That is probably the thing that was tiring me. Thank you Mortym.
In act 1 once you complet woljif and unlock is black market store, you can buy from him the estoc of purity wich is a +1 cold iron whit a 1d3 of positve damage
This is a little off topic from this video but I wanted to say that you have inspired me to get my first crpg in Pillars of Eternity 1. It was on sale today and I'd been looking to get into the genre since I started watching your channel maybe a year or so back and as someone who has been significantly anticipating Avowed I figured I'd stick to that universe and familiarize myself with the world building and lore. Hoping the way you portray the genre holds true, and if it does I'll be playing both of the Pillars of Eternity games for quite a while (at least until Avowed my beloved releases)
This is nearly the exact build I’ve been playing on my most recent playthrough - with the lich mythic path’s awesome melee buffs like vampiric blade and some pretty nice touch spells.
The game does indicate the expected difficulty for each class at character creation, and magus is rated hardest. So lots of micromanagement and lots of game knowledge required, but it gives you a lot versatility on unfair difficulty.
I’m just now picking up this game on ps5. Great video by the way! Am i missing something? There isn’t a choice when I”m creating this character to pick a personal weapon? Was that taken out?
This is amazing and I love the depth. I would dig more build spotlights. I am currently trying to make a unarmed build but because of a lot of what you fight its kinda difficult to get any good mileage out of it.
I still remember when the game came out and I saw the words "Sword Saint", I got super excited to be able to play a samurai. Imagine my disappointment. Lol Awesome build.
Very Good build! I had already started a Aeon Sword Saint character. It was at lvl 10-11 when this video dropped so just had to respec. Some the stars align. 😂
I think cool build ideas would be something like taking a subclass that's generally regarded as bad, and making it good. Like the heavy armor barbarian or something.
I’m not very strong in English, so please clarify one important point: did I understand correctly that we need to first increase intelligence to 30 points (for defense bonuses), and only after that start increasing agility? Or should I immediately put all my points into agility?
It isn't really worth it. The Magus spell list just doesn't have enough DC spells to justify that investment as you still need Dex for AC and initiative. Arcane Rider is the only one that can really make it work as the Mount carries until you get the Bardiche in late Act 3 without respecing.
Due to nerfs on Zippy and the fact this isn't forcing any saves, probably not. Incredible Might + Ring of Triumphant Advance + Believe In Yourself would basically eliminate any miss chance and add at ton of damage though.
@pyrflie Dammit, I have been thinking about playing a pure magus with azata path, and the magic superpowers seemed a tempting thing to try. I will have to give it a try. Thanks for the info!
So will there be a companion leveling guide for doing Unfair? At least for the main cast since some of the optional companions aren't that viable for an Unfair run.
Midnight Isles, Last of the Sarkorans, and Dance of Masks add a lot. Minimum I would say you need Sarkorans. Shifter and Ulbrig are really big additions.
Hey Mortum, long time viewer here. I remember coming across your channel while looking for Pathfinder content and still hoping for a console release before my wife bought me a PC as a gift. I appreciate you man and I am wondering how you feel about the future of crpgs? BG3 has changed things we’re not such a niche community anymore. I see both good and bad in it how about you?
Any chance of getting a full, updated kineticist build video similar to this one? Your "So You Want To Play A Kineticist" video is 2 years old and there's obviously been a lot of content released since then. I realize you released the Kinetic Sharpshooter vid to cover the newest class, but you also mentioned it doesn't really come online until level 15. Additionally, that archetype is a bit of a black sheep for kineticists in general. Was hoping you might consider a video that outlined your thoughts on maybe the best overall kineticist build, and maybe the builds you feel are more/most viable early game (without necessarily sacrificing a ton of late game potential).
I'm trying this build on a companion merc and was wondering, is it possible to get a 1 lvl dip in magic deceiver for magic fusion and get a fused touch spell instead of the vivi dip? I'm not sure if there's a reason it wouldn't work or not be a good idea and I don't have rerolls so probs won't be trying right now. But some sort of magus/magic deceiver mix sounds like it could be fun haha
I know that for a Heavy one handed Weapon we need a feat called Slashing Grace to add our dexterity to damage rolls. After taking this treat, do you think that the build would work with, for example, a longsword? Cheers.
Being new to the game I'm trying to learn through trying builds. And I'm just lost at lvl 3. Do you have a part where you just explain the actual build as if I'm an idiot? Because I am.

An estoc has a high crit range like a rapier but also gets the 1.5 strength bonus when wielded with two hands. Estocs also deal 2d4 damage versus a rapier's 1d8, which generally results in slightly higher average damage (which also affects crits, which this build loves). Just mowing the lawn. Anyone know if there's a build that can do something similar here?
